Chapter Eight
Finally, after LaDonna’s screeching slowed, Bane slowly shook his head at her. “You will not be calling anyone or getting free, woman. EVER. You need to wake up to that fact right fucking now.”
Sergi nodded “You also know why you will never be free. You will most likely be executed in Russia.”
Her eyes widened. “What? Why? I am a woman and I am disabled too.”
Sergi stared at her and then laughed. “A woman, maybe. But the rest is pretense at its finest.” He rolled his eyes.
“And the why would be that you had stolen Russian weapons and made them into Bioweapons. This warrants more than time served in Siberia, you stupid pretender.” He then turned to look at Aaron as he crossed his arms over his chest. “Since my friend Bane has pointed out the liar part. We will promptly move to the thief part. Let’s talk about the money.
Some days you are Aaron Killian and some days you’re someone altogether different.
Often, you are a man named Frank Ambrose.
Do your brothers know about your alias? Do they know you’re taking money from both sides of your personality?
Some under Aaron and even more under the name Frank Ambrose? ”
His brother, Randall snorted. Then he glared at Aaron. “How much more does he get under the name of Frank?”
Bane shrugged and replied, “I believe he’s gotten fourteen million under his real name and about thirty-two million under Frank. Give or take a few bucks that is.”
Brent growled and his hands tightened into fists. “Why didn’t you ever tell us about this Frank name?”
Aaron shrugged and said, “It never came up.”
“Oh, it never came up?” Randall grumbled. “You strung us along all this time and you were making twice the money we were and it just never came up?”
“Why the name Frank?” Bane asked him gently. “Was it your way to honor the uncle you murdered for no reason?”
Aaron glared at him. “Oh, I had a reason. He betrayed us all. He almost led the cops right to our front door.”
Randall slowly backed away at this point. Fear shone in his eyes and he began to sweat as he stared at his brother’s back.
Bane watched him almost curiously now. “Did he? Did he really or was it someone else that betrayed you all and he just let you believe what he wanted you to believe?”
Aaron scowled and looked around the room. “What the hell does that mean?”
Bane shrugged. “I don’t think your uncle betrayed you at all. I knew him well and he was never the type to lie to save himself. He told me once that family meant everything to him and you don’t turn your back on the people who share your blood.”
Aaron tightened his fists and choked out, “Then who almost brought the cops to our door that night?”
Bane slowly turned his head and looked at Randall.
Randall took another step back while shaking his head. “It wasn’t me. I swear it wasn’t me. I had nothing to do with that.”
“Oh, but you did,” Bane told him. “You were overheard in the bar one night, bragging about the heist the week before. Bragging about the money you found and the jewelry you already sold. Granted, you were drunk but someone there that night taped you bragging. Then you passed the blame on your uncle who had nothing to do with the heist or the bragging.”
Aaron took a step toward his brother and his fists tightened as he got close. “It was you? Not Uncle Frank but you that almost got us caught?”
Randall shook his head. “I didn’t know you would actually kill him. That’s on you, not me. You murdered our uncle, not me.”
“You convinced me that it was him that told the cops where to find us!” Aaron shouted.
“I kept my mouth shut after that didn’t I?” Randall shouted back. “It was too late to save Uncle Frank but I never spoke again about our raids.”
“Tell me something,” Sergi asked the room. “Did your mother even know her son killed her brother?”
Brent’s head snapped over and he glared at the other man. “Does it matter? Frank was already dead and he couldn’t come back.”
Sergi nodded. “Da, he was already dead but I think it would have bothered her a lot to know her son killed him.”
Brent nodded slowly. “Yeah, if you want the truth I think she knew and that hurt her a lot. She disappeared after that and we didn’t know where she was or if she was even alive for a long time after.”
Sergi nodded. “Then I imagine she missed her brother more than she missed her own sons. She knew what you were doing and it just didn’t sit well with her that her sons could kill for money.” He shook his head slowly. “No mother is happy with sons like that.”
“Oh, yeah?” Aaron snarled. “What else were we supposed to do? Get a job and work hard labor ten hours a day? We worked smarter, not harder.”
“With a father like the one you had, I don’t doubt that,” Bane retorted. “You boys never had a decent chance in life but every man makes that decision. Can you boys look in a mirror every day? Do you see anything in your eyes or do you see nothing?”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Brent growled. “I can look into the mirror just fine.”
“Then you are more lost than everyone else,” Bane told him.
“To be a man that hunts down and kills other men, women and children you have to give up your soul completely to death.” Shaking his head he admitted, “We all know Aaron didn’t do his job all by himself.
He trained his own brothers to be killers. What kind of example did he give you?”
Randall sneered as he defended Aaron, “He taught us how to provide for ourselves. We became closer than we’d ever been before. He told us we were a family and we had to stay together.”
“He never gave you a chance,” Bane told them. “He never gave you a choice but you followed him into a hell you’ll never escape from. Even now you don’t know how to make your own choices, your own way in life and now you’ll all die as one family.”
“No one is going to kill us!” Aaron nearly screamed at Bane’s remark. “We haven’t done anything wrong. We might spend some time behind bars but we’re going to grow old together as brothers.”
“Damn boy, you really believe that?”
Bastian nodded in agreement, “Seems they do live in fiction...”
“I have to wonder what they will think of the Russian winter?” Sergi put in his two cents.
Brent scoffed and asked, “Russian winter? We won’t be going to Russia anytime soon.”
Sergi chuckled as he shook his head at their continued denials of the real trouble they were in. “You will be facing the Russian High Council in Russia for your crimes. But not to worry, you’ll stand next to LaDonna Rinc, Oleg Partross and his grandson.”
The entire group stared at him blankly.
“Yes, fiction,” Bastian remarked. “And if this is so. You have to realize that in those fictional stories the bad guys get caught in the end and they are shown justice. In this story...the bad guys would be you all.”
LaDonna kept shaking her head as her face had paled.
The brothers all tried to bluff it.
Aron crossed his arms over his chest. “It won’t happen. You will all see why.
Sergi sighed. “We can see you all will be in denial until you see Moscow.”
Bane glared at Aaron. “Your uncle was the only decent one of you and you ended him. So, I’m more than glad to see the last of the fucking Killians.”
