“I couldn’t help but realize that the two of you haven’t been married all that long.
To see you two together, it looks like you’ve been together for decades instead of only a few weeks.
That’s the way I see it anyway.” Tucker told Lisa that he felt that way, too, like he’d been waiting for his little dragon for all his life.
“I’m told that Kaida means little dragon.
Is that what you plan on calling her for the rest of your lives together? ”
“It is. I love that she’s my little dragon, and I was lucky in that she never took me to task all that much when we first met.
I wasn’t what anyone would call romantic.
” Kaida laughed and said he’d gotten that right.
“I’m sorry to say that I wasn’t even a nice person simply because she was human.
I’d written them all off as monsters until meeting her, and didn’t want to have anything to do with any of them.
But she wore me down and made me see her for what she is.

“I might have thought that was sappy a few weeks ago. Even a couple of days ago, but since I feel the same way about Brenin, I can relate to what you’re saying.

” Tucker and Kaida agreed with her, and she sat up higher in her seat.
“I love you guys, too. Meeting all of you has been like a dream come true for me. Having great friends is something that I’ve never had before now.

They talked about the weather too while waiting for dinner to be called.
Even Davy joined in on the conversation at times, and she was proud of him for being so polite and a good boy.
It was Kaida who asked about Mrs. Manchester, and she told her that she was in jail for now but didn’t know how much longer.
“I’m sorry, I thought that I told you. She’s going to be in jail for the next three months.
At least that long, I’m happy to say.” She asked Brenin what charges she was being held on.
“Mostly it’s to do with her wanting to kill you.
She did threaten the judge, too, but I’m not sure he put that in her requirement for being in jail.
Janice wants you under her control, and if you don’t do what you’re supposed to do, then she’s going to kill you and take Davy anyway.
I’m glad that you’re immortal. There is no telling what she’d do if you were to be anywhere around her if not.
She wants to control you and have Davy raised the way that she feels good about.
I’m assuming that she’s talking about how she raised David, her son. ”
“He didn’t much care for his mom. I was surprised when he told me that she wanted us all to live with her and he was considering it.
I told him that it wasn’t going to happen, and he was all right with that.
However, I think she was wearing him down.
I swear that she could beat a poor horse to death when she got something in her head.
It’s like she has a one-track mind where things are to go her way or she’s going to kill someone.
” Lisa shivered slightly and told them all that she made her nervous.
“If she gets out anytime soon, she’s going to make my life a living hell until she does something stupid.
I hope that it doesn’t come to that, but with her it’s hard to know what she’ll do. ”
“She’ll do something stupid and end up on the wrong side of our dragons. We are all here to protect you, love.” She nodded to Tucker and thanked him. “No need for that. We’re all family right now, and we protect what’s ours. You and Davy have come to mean a great deal to us all, too.”
“Thank you again. The two of us have had a wonderful life with you all in it and I think I can say this for us both when I say I’ve never had such good friends before.
” Tucker nodded and his cheeks turned a bright red.
