Chapter 7 #3

“I have some news on Tommy Benson. He’s the bully who has beaten up other kids at the school.

He’s been sent to military school for the duration.

I don’t think his parents were given a choice in whether or not he went.

It was there or jail.” She asked what they were going to do about the hospital bill for young Toby.

“They’re picking up the tab on it and anything else he has to have done while recuperating, too.

I’ve heard that he’s going to need more surgeries to put his face back together.

” Davy started crying then, and Tucker said he was sorry.

“He took the beating for me. He told me that I was littler than him, so he could take it. It might have killed me had it been me, and I’m so happy that he’s my friend.

” Brenin held onto Davy while he cried. “I wish I could see him again. He’s my bestest friend in the world, and I hate that he got hurt like he did. ”

“As soon as his mom says it’s all right, we’ll go and see him.

She will be the one who decides if he’s well enough to have visitors.

It’s really important that we keep him in our thoughts for now and make sure that we keep away until he’s better enough to enjoy our company.

Right now, they have to be afraid of germs, too.

You don’t want to take him something like a cold right now.

We want him to get better, don’t we?” Davy said that he missed him.

“I tell you what. Tomorrow we’ll go and get him a card that you can send to him.

And some flowers for his mom. She must be missing everyone, too, with her being in the hospital all the time with her only child. ”

“I’d like that very much.” After they were called to dinner, Davy said that he was starving.

He’d not had any after-school snack tonight as they headed right over to Tucker’s home for dinner.

She was going to have to be more careful of that in the future.

She didn’t want him to starve when it came to eating his meals, she thought with a smile.

“Mr. Tucker, is it all right to call you Uncle Tucker? You’re going to be my uncle for sure once I get adopted.

I’ll be Davy Eugene Savage. Doesn’t that sound good? ”

“It does, buddy. It really does.” Tucker messed with his hair and hugged him. “You should call us all your uncles and the ladies’ aunt. I’m sure they’d enjoy that very much. I know that I would.”

“Good. Then I’ll call them all uncle. Brenin said that I could call him dad when I’m ready.

I never knew my real dad, but for what grandma tells me.

” Davy looked like he was thinking on things before he spoke again.

“I don’t think he was as perfect as she said that he is.

Mom tells me nobody is perfect, but she said that he was.

I’m not going to stay with her anymore until she gets better.

Mom said that she wants to hurt her so that I have to live with her.

I don’t want to do that. I don’t much like her anyway. ”

Brenin helped her son cut up his burger and fries so he could pick them up.

It was a big burger, but she’d bet that he’d have no trouble eating it all.

And it was perfect, just the way that he liked it, with just catsup on it and nothing else.

When he ate the first half, she knew that he was going to finish it all.

He was going through a growth spurt and would eat just about anything that was put in front of him.

After dinner, they went to the living room.

There was a preseason football game on, and they sat around watching it.

While she nor Davy knew that much about football, they enjoyed watching the others enjoying it.

They were loud about some of the calls, but they laughed, too.

While living with Brenin, she knew that she was going to have to learn more about the sport that they all seemed to appreciate watching.

Going home that night, Brenin had to carry Davy into the house. He’d always been a heavy sleeper, and she was glad that someone could carry him still. She couldn’t do it and would end up getting him awake enough to walk inside. He was seven and heavy for her to try to manage on her own.

Once he was in bed and tucked in, she left him to his sleep and went to find Brenin. He was in the office on his computer, looking at some of the stocks that Tucker had told him about.

Apparently, Trevor, son to Kings and Skye, knew a little bit of magic that would allow him to see the futures on some investments, and he wanted to get right on them.

Even though she’d heard that the Savage family had all the money, it made her feel good that he still invested when he wanted to have more money coming in all the time.

She didn’t believe for a moment that they had all the money, but she knew that they had quite a bit of it.

How much? She wasn’t sure, but she was willing to bet that it was several billion dollars.

If it was more than that, she didn’t want to know.

The amount that she had in her head was more than enough zeros for her to think about.

Going up to bed at ten-thirty, she was in bed with the lights off by eleven.

Her body was still sore from making love last night.

She hoped that Brenin would make love to her again tonight and every night for the rest of their lives together.

She loved the way that he was tender to her and loved her so much.

When he came up to bed a little after eleven, she was ready for him.

As soon as he got into bed with her, he made the same kind of love he’d done with her last night.

Her body responded to his like it was made for him, and she loved it.

After coming several times, she was pleasantly exhausted and ready for sleep. Brenin held her throughout the night.

The bed was empty again when she woke. She was getting really bad at sleeping late and thought about setting an alarm so that she’d be up with the men in her life.

Missing Davy before he got off to school was something that she didn’t care for and set her alarm on her phone so that she’d get up in the morning.

He wasn’t going to be seven forever, and she didn’t want to miss a moment of his life.

Brenin was having breakfast when she got to the kitchen.

He told her that they were running behind this morning, and Davy was going to eat at school.

The program was a good one where kids could eat their first meal of the day at the school, and she didn’t mind him doing it.

Once in a while. She thought that he ate better at home and thought that was another reason for her to be getting up with them.

She could make him something to eat if the cook was running behind, too.

“He needed something signed about a permission slip for a trip they’re taking to the art museum in Zanesville.

Since you had it marked on the calendar, I went ahead and signed it.

” She said that was fine; his name was on the paperwork to sign off on things like that.

“I also heard from Ace. My adoption paperwork is on the judge’s desk as we speak, so that we can get the adoption paperwork finished up.

It might be sooner than we think that he’ll be another Savage. ”

“That’s what he wants more than anything. To no longer be a Manchester when everyone around him is a Savage.” He asked her how Janice might react. “I don’t know. I’m not going to tell her until I have to, and I see no reason why she needs to know now. We’ll just keep that between all of us.”

“I hoped that you’d say that. She’ll find out someday, but we don’t have to rub it in her face for now.” She agreed with Brenin. “I love you, Lisa Savage. It’s going to be nice to have Davy Savage in our family too, don’t you think?”

“I think he’s going to love it. He’s already asking me how to spell it.

As you can imagine, that word doesn’t come up on his site words all that often.

” The two of them laughed and got up from the breakfast table.

They both had things to do, and she wanted to get a good start on her paperwork.

So far, she was doing well with grading papers and thought that she could do it for a while yet.

She was glad too that it didn’t take away from her Davy and Brenin time, too.
