Chapter 10 #2

Got it. I’ll deal with it. Don’t worry.

Me

Thanks.

Giving them one last look of disgust, I take my coffee and decide to go visit Lexi, and see how the new mama is doing.

“You have got to be fucking kidding me!” I hiss, watching the same fucking truck I saw the assholes driving the other day drive by my house.

I know for a fact that Syrus escorted them out of town and told them not to come back. So why the fuck are they here?

Starting the bike up, I peel out of my driveway.

I was already on my way to see Atlas, but I think I’m going to take a little detour.

Keeping my distance, I follow them back into Ridley’s Hawk. They pull into one of the motels along the highway.

They get out of the truck, angrily shouting at each other.

“If you don’t watch yourself, you’re going to get us in trouble,” the brunette hisses.

“Me?” he scoffs. “You’re the one who can’t keep his hands to himself. Wait until we bring her to the hotel room next time. That way if she screams we can cover her mouth.”

I’m sorry, what the fuck!

“Fuck this. I’m going for a drink.”

The guy with the black hair takes off down the street.

I’m not sure what they’re talking about, or where this guy is going. But I know for a fact that they need to be taken care of.

Because whatever they have planned, why they’re here in town, it’s not anything good.

“What are you doing tonight?” I ask Atlas as I burst into his office twenty minutes later.

“Well hello to you too, Little Rose,” he chuckles, looking up from his computer.

“Hi.” I rush over, leaning down to press a kiss to his lips. “What are you doing tonight?”

He licks his lips and leans back in his chair, patting his leg.

Bitting my lower lip, I give in and staddle his lap.

His large hands run up my thighs, landing on my ass, giving it a squeeze. “Wanna slow down and tell me what's going on before I agree to help you bury a body?” he chuckles jokingly.

I blink at him, watching as his smile drops. “Shit,” he hisses. “Where did you leave it?”

“He’s not dead… yet. That's where you come in.”

He raises a brow. “Okay?”

“Those two assholes from the club, you know how I saw them in Widows Peak and Syrus kicked them out, right?”

“Yes,” he nods.

“Well, as I was getting ready to come here to see you, I saw the truck drive by my house, so I followed them. The way they were talking, it’s not going to lead to anything good. They’re bad men, Atlas. They need to go. Permanently.”

“Little Rose.” His voice is a low growl. “That was very reckless of you.”

“I adore you, Atlas, I do, but I’ve been killing grown men for a lot longer than I’ve known you. I can handle myself. But, now I know I don’t have to do it alone, and I’m coming here to you. So, wanna kill some guys tonight?”

“Fuck,” he sighs, letting his head fall backwards, eyes closed. “You know I can’t say no to you.”

“Yay!” I squeal with excitement. “Okay, come on. I heard one guy say something about going for a drink. There's a bar just down the street from the motel they’re staying at, let’s check there first.”

There's an odd, giddy excitement as we pull into the back alley behind the bar. I’m practically bouncing out of my seat.

“Someone is excited to spill some blood,” Atlas chuckles as he cuts the engine.

“Duh,” I grin. “It’s been too long. And we get to do it together. I wanna see you in action, big guy. Show me how those muscles work.” I wiggle my brows.

He tosses his head back and laughs. “Never in a million years did I think I’d find myself a partner who would consider murdering someone as quality time.”

“Guess that means I’m one in a million.”

He leans it, grasping my chin between his fingers. “You are.” Then he kisses me, making me swoon.

The words ‘I love you’ are on the tip of my tongue, but I know right now isn’t the right time to say it. I know I love him, and I know I’m falling for Jude and Willow too. But until we’re on the same page, I can’t say anything. Not yet.

“You know we’re going to have to tell them,” I murmur against his lips.

“I know,” he nods.

“Sooner rather than later. I hate keeping this from them.”

“We will set something up, okay?”

“Okay,” I nod.

“But right now, we have a creep to kill,” Atlas grins.

“Let’s do it!”

He chuckles at my excitement, getting out to make his way around the truck to open my door.

“Such a gentleman,” I tease as he helps me out.

“After you, m’lady,” he bows.

Giggling, I wait until he grabs his axe from the back.

“Ready?”

“Yup,” I grin.

Atlas waits in the alley while I head into the club. There's no cameras here, but even if there was, the owner of the place is friends with Atlas, and most people don’t fuck with me or my friends. So if we ask to keep something quiet, they will.

The club is loud and packed when I get inside. Shit. This might not be so easy.

I get to work looking around the crowd, the bar, the bathroom, the dance floor. Everywhere. But it’s too dark and I can’t see anyone's faces really well.

Shit, what if he left already and is back at the motel?

Feeling disoriented, I leave the club after doing another walk through and head out to tell Atlas we should check the motel when a girl comes running past me sobbing.

“Are you okay?” I ask her as she passes, concern putting me on high alert.

She doesn’t answer me as she keeps running.

What the fuck was that?

I break into a jog towards where Atlas is waiting, wondering if he saw the girl and can tell me what happened.
