Chapter 35

. . .

Vesper

“Damn, girl. Stanton looks like it was made for you.” Marley smooths a palm across the name stamped across my back. “It almost makes me want a hockey boyfriend.” She winks at me, one hand toying with the tip of her long ponytail.

Marley is your classic catalog girl and totally stunning. I have no doubt that she’d be able to snap up a hockey guy in seconds. Any guy, to be honest.

I raise a brow at her as the players skate back onto the ice for the second period.

They’re two to one, up against Orlando, and I’ve been staring at Silas the whole time.

He’s playing so well and giving a big middle finger to the fans who called for him to be benched.

I’m happy—and relieved—that Coach Callaghan and the owners eventually saw sense and kept him on the roster.

“I think your boyfriend would have something to say about you getting with a hockey guy.”

She clicks her tongue, leans back in her seat, and crosses her ankles. Sitting in the family box means we can actually have a conversation during games, but there’s just something about being ice level.

“Honestly, Ves, I’m getting to the point where I’m not all that sure he’d be bothered.”

I sit forward, and Marley’s eyes fall to my growing bump.

“Did you guys break up?”

From where she’s standing a few feet away, Drew’s head darts to us, eyes wide with shock. I guess I did shriek pretty loud.

Marley doesn’t really react—or at least not in the way I’d expect a girl who was supposed to be in love to react to a question like that. If someone asked whether Silas and I had split, I’d put that shit straight in a heartbeat.

“No, we didn’t break up … but other than that, I don’t really know what to say.”

Drew comes to sit next to me just as her fiancé puts the Rogues another goal ahead. Despite what her younger sister just said, I see pride for her man as it flashes in her eyes. I imagine that’s what mine look like each time Silas gets the puck.

“I don’t understand, Marl,” Drew says. “You moved to Vancouver to be with him, and you even talked about how you hoped Greg would propose one day.”

I can sense the anguish inside Marley, but more than that, I’ve seen that kind of look on a girl’s face before—one I used to wear all too often when I looked in the mirror and tried to convince myself that my relationship with Kane wasn’t all wrong and he wasn’t sucking the goddamn life from me.

It’s been two weeks since he talked to the press, and I personally believe my boyfriend’s representatives have handled my toxic ex perfectly. Making a short statement to assert our innocence and then giving all the bullshit noise exactly what it deserves—silence.

Best believe Kane will never hear another word from me. Back in October, I was done with our back-and-forth relationship, and now he’s dead to me too.

“I …” Marley’s voice cracks a fraction, and I take her hand in mine.

She swallows and starts again. “I thought he loved me, Drew, but then I started spending more time with you and Will and now Vesper and Silas, and I’m starting to see the cracks in our relationship.

Greg never travels to Seattle with me.” She throws up a hand.

“Hell, he won’t even come out to a club or suggest we head out for a date night.

” She shakes her head, chewing once on her bottom lip.

“I want more than that. I want excitement like Mom and Dad still have and like every other girl sitting around me clearly has.”

“Take it from me, Marley.” Out of nowhere, June appears and hands her a glass of wine. “Love is overrated. A few dates and a casual fuck are where it’s at.”

Drew’s jaw pops open, and June just shrugs as she takes a seat opposite us.

“Take tonight, for example. After the game, I’m meeting a guy for dinner.

It’s been several weeks since I last hooked up with anyone, and I plan to take full advantage of his hospitality.

” She crosses her jean-covered legs and rests an elbow on one knee.

“Does this guy want more? Who knows?! But believe me he won’t be getting more than one night with me if anything is below average.

” She wiggles her brows suggestively. “If you catch my drift.”

I bark out a laugh and point at June. “There’s a lot of sense in there, Marl. And take it from me—you do not want to waste your early twenties on a guy who won’t treat you right.”

Marley picks up her wineglass and takes a sip, setting it down on a small table beside her. “But we started off so well, you know? And now he’s spending most nights on the couch.”

Drew rears back. “What?”

Marley flushes pink. “With all my school projects and social work training, I end up going to bed really early, so I guess I—”

I hold up a hand. “No. Whatever is about to leave your mouth next, the answer is no. Your man should understand and support the hard work you’re putting in.

And if you need to go to bed early, then he should be following you to spend some quality time together.

” I squeeze her hand and look Marley straight in the eyes.

“Don’t make excuses for him because he’s good enough at doing that for himself.

If it doesn’t feel right, then get out. Now. ”

She holds my gaze for a moment before her eyes move to the rink below. Rhys Sharpe has his back to us as he guards the crease.

“Rhys is fun to talk to,” she says in a small voice. “He was really interested in my hopes of becoming a qualified social worker since he was raised in the system.”

Drew’s eyes soften at that. Rhys hasn’t made a secret about his time as a child in foster care and has a foundation to support children without families. Silas and I are attending one of its fundraisers next month.

“Well, my vote is for you to break it off with Greg, move back to Seattle, and bang the Rogues goalie,” June suggests.

Marley half laughs, half scoffs. “Rhys has a girlfriend. He recently started dating her.”

I pull back. “Wait, so you’re saying that you would consider June’s plan if Rhys were single?”

Marley pulls her hand from mine and slaps it across her mouth, realization in her pretty eyes. “Oh my God!”

June raises her wineglass to us all. “Girls, I rest my case.”

Two hours later, I’m no longer wearing my boyfriend’s jersey. He just peeled it from my body.

“What if someone walks in?” I whisper between the kisses Silas peppers down my neck.

“I don’t actually give a fuck,” he grinds out, dropping to his knees in front of me.

In the near total darkness of a back room just off the players’ lounge, I’m sitting on a table with my feet on his shoulders, and, holy shit, Silas’s eyes are feral with lust.

He looks so hot with freshly showered hair and a white dress shirt with a few buttons open at the collar.

Rolling his sleeves up to the elbows, he smirks up at me. “While I was on the ice, all I could think about was getting you alone after the game.”

I reach down and tip his chin up with my forefinger. I revel in how dominant the move makes me feel, and I love even more that Silas is man enough to deal with it. Actually, he thrives on it.

“What are you doing?” I whisper when his lips caress my swollen stomach.

He hums against my skin, his gravelly voice firing off sparks throughout my needy body. “Hey, baby.” He kisses my flesh. “Do you know how beautiful your mama is? Your daddy counts his blessings every day that she gave him a chance to love her.”

Silas stands and unloops his belt, hungry eyes eating me alive.

I spread my thighs, hitch up my skirt, and pull my panties to the side. “Are you going to fuck me now?”

His pants and boxer briefs hit the floor, and a second later, I’m suspended midair and impaled on his dick. I wrap my legs around his waist, and he holds me in place with one arm and toys with my slick asshole.

I’m so freaking wet, so damn full of him.

“I’m curious, Knockout,” he pants, “do you care if anyone walks in now?”

I shake my head, eyes dropping to watch his dick as it slides inside me.

Silas walks us across the room and presses my back into the door leading to the players’ lounge, where all our friends are gathered.

“Chant my name, Vesper. Say it so they can hear what I’m doing to you.”

My eyes grow wide. “What if your coach or that cocky owner is there?”

He just grins and thrusts into me harder. “I don’t give a fuck what anyone thinks. All I care about is them knowing that you’re mine to keep. Forever.”

My boyfriend slows his pace until he’s no longer fucking my body, but making love to it.

“Silas,” I moan, letting my head fall back against the wooden door.

At this point, I’m just handing myself over to him to do as he pleases.

That’s the kind of trust and respect I have for this man.

“Give yourself to me like a good fucking girl,” he croons, freeing one of my breasts from the lacy black bra I wore on purpose.

My nipples are larger and pinker than ever before, and I watch the way his eyes sparkle in the faint lighting creeping under the door.

“Have these been leaking yet?”

I feel my pussy spasm around his cock. “Yeah a little bit. I should probably start wearing breast pads.”

He groans and lowers his mouth to my nipple, carefully sucking it between his lips.

I’ll be the first to admit that a lactation kink was not something I thought about before I met Silas. I didn’t even know it was a thing until now.

Regardless, my thighs clench around his waist, like my body has been hiding this secret fantasy my whole life.

He pops off and circles his tongue around my nipple. “I didn’t hurt you, did I? I know I need to be careful. I don’t want my mouth to spark spontaneous contractions.” He winks at me. “Well, not in that area anyway.”

My pussy grows wetter, almost like it knows he’s referring to it gripping his cock when he inevitably makes me come. “No. The opposite, Daddy. I loved it.”

Reaching behind my back, he unclasps my bra with one hand, and it falls into my lap right as he starts suckling on my other breast.

The sensation is my undoing. The feelings, emotions. Knowing that I’m carrying this man’s child and he cannot get enough of us. He’s never been able to quench his thirst for me, and tonight, he’s physically proving that.

“How many babies are we going to have?” The question tumbles from my lips and he pulls off, swallowing down my release.

“How many do you want me to give you?”

I don’t know why I act all coy because I’ve been anything but tonight. “Well, we both already said that we want a big family.”

Silas grinds his hips into me, and my orgasm crests.

“Move in with me, and I’ll give you all the babies. I’ll put them inside you whenever you fucking want. You’ll be so full of my cum that you’ll be able to taste it.”

I come so hard that I actually see stars. Silas draws out my pleasure with his mouth around my left nipple, approving growls vibrating against my full breast.

When my high subsides and I’m a satiated mess with mascara no doubt down my cheeks, I hold his handsome face in my hands.

He hasn’t shaved for a day or so, and I love the rough feel of his stubble.

The sensation grounds me, reminding me that this life is real, that I’ve finally found the happiness I was convinced would never come.

“Are you asking me to move in with you now?”

He presses his palm into the door above my head as he comes hard inside me, squeezing his eyes shut.

After a beat, he opens his eyes, nothing but pure adoration evident.

“I want you near me all the time, Vesper. When I get home from training or after a game. When you finish a long shift and need to collapse with a pizza in bed. I want you to fall asleep in my arms, with a coloring book balanced in your lap. I want to carry you to bed when you’re exhausted and wake up in the middle of the night to care for our babies.

I’ve waited so fucking long for this, and I’ve got time to make up.

” He brushes a kiss across my lips. “So, yeah, I want you to move in with me—now.”
