Volume 1 Chapter 31 - The Call of Soleris
The walls of Aelbourne shimmered in the afternoon light, vast and majestic — tall stone towers laced with silver wards and banners fluttering in the breeze.
Cindy's eyes sparkled with awe. "So that's the capital..."
Puff, sitting on her shoulder, whistled softly. "Finally. Real food, real beds, and no monsters trying to chew on us."
They walked along the dirt road leading to the grand gate where merchants, travelers, and adventurers queued for inspection. The hum of voices filled the air, mixing with the sound of the city beyond.
Cindy smiled faintly. "It feels... alive."
Puff nodded. "Yeah. Feels like the start of something new."
But just as they reached the halfway mark toward the gate—
A sudden gust of wind swirled violently around them.
The ground beneath their feet shimmered, the world tilting, colors bending and twisting.
"Cindy! What's happening?!" Puff shouted, gripping her arm.
"I— I don't know!" she cried. The wind howled, blinding white light engulfing them both.
Then — silence.
?
Back to the Ruins
When the light faded, the city was gone.
They stood once again before the ancient crystal archway — the Ruin of Soleris.
Only this time, the gate was open.
The massive stone doors glowed faintly with flowing patterns of blue energy, and the air thrummed with magic so dense it made Cindy's wings vibrate.
Puff swallowed hard. "Oh no. Not again."
Cindy stared, her heart pounding. "It teleported us back... but why?"
Before she could move, the same whisper echoed in her mind — clearer than before.
"Child of wind... step forward. The seal recognizes your growth."
The wind gathered around her like a living thing, urging her on.
Cindy hesitated. "Do we... go in?"
Puff groaned. "We probably shouldn't. Which means we definitely will."
She smiled faintly. "Yeah."
Together, they stepped into the light.
?
The Core of Soleris
Inside was a vast chamber of crystal pillars and floating lights. The air shimmered with soft blue luminescence, and countless motes drifted like fireflies.
At the center stood a circular platform with a glowing sigil. Cindy approached carefully, and as soon as her foot touched the center — the ground pulsed with energy.

Distributing Residual Mana...
The entire room flared with light.
Energy flooded into her body — warm, powerful, endless.
Cindy gasped, clutching her chest as streams of pure mana swirled around her.

Puff staggered back, shielding his eyes. "Cindy! You're glowing like a star!"
Her wings expanded, radiating colors that painted the entire chamber. The energy of the ruin poured into her like it had been waiting centuries just for this moment.
[System Alert: Evolution Threshold Reached]
Available Evolution Options:
① Butterfly Spirit Queen (enhanced magic nature affinity)
② Humanoid Butterfly Form (human transformation adaptive disguise)
Cindy breathed heavily, feeling the choices pulse within her.
She remembered the elder tree's words, the villagers she'd healed, and her longing to live among humans again — not as a hidden creature, but as someone who could walk beside them.
She smiled softly. "I choose... Humanoid Butterfly Form."
?
Evolution
The light burst around her like a cocoon.
Her body lifted gently into the air, surrounded by threads of glowing wind.
Her wings folded inward, and her small frame began to shift — limbs lengthening, form reshaping. The cocoon cracked open in a shower of light.
When it faded, a young woman stood where the butterfly once was.
Her hair flowed like silver mist, her eyes gleamed like sapphire, and her faintly luminous wings shimmered behind her — elegant and delicate.
She looked around, astonished, then at her reflection on the crystal floor.
She was human again — or almost.

Puff's jaw dropped. "You— you're tall! You look like... twenty!"
Cindy looked at her hands, her face lighting up with awe and disbelief. "It's... me. A new me."
She focused, whispering, "Transformation."
Her wings faded into soft light and vanished.
In their place stood a completely human girl — gentle, graceful, and radiant.
Cindy twirled once, the hem of her new white dress flowing lightly in the wind. "I look... normal."
Puff clapped his tiny hands. "Normal? You look amazing! Like an actual adventurer!"
She laughed, the sound echoing beautifully through the crystal halls.
?
The Voice of Soleris
Then the whisper returned — calm and resonant.
"The seal has chosen its heir. The wind shall carry you forward, child of renewal. When the world trembles again, return here — and the final gate shall open."
The sigil beneath her dimmed, and the archway ahead began to glow once more.
Cindy glanced at Puff. "Looks like it's sending us back."
"Good," Puff muttered, "I've had enough divine experiences for one day."
They stepped into the light together.
?
Return to the Road
In an instant, they were back — standing on the path before Aelbourne's gates.
The queue of travelers hadn't moved an inch, as if no time had passed at all.
Cindy blinked. "It... sent us back exactly where we were."
Puff groaned. "Time magic. My least favorite kind."
Cindy smiled, brushing a lock of silver hair behind her ear. "Come on. Let's enter the city — as our new selves."
She adjusted her cloak, activated her Transformation, and for the first time, stepped toward the capital as a human — no longer just a spirit, but a person ready to walk among them.
