Volume 2 Chapter 9 - The Wings of Ascension
The dungeon core shattered in a burst of emerald light.
Cindy stood at its center, breathing hard, her blade of condensed wind humming in her grip. The last of the monsters — a towering crystal golem — fell apart behind her, breaking into shards of fading mana.
Puff lowered his staff-spear beside her, panting but smiling. "That's... the third one, right? We actually cleared three dungeons in one week."
Cindy exhaled slowly, wiping sweat from her brow. "Yeah... three intermediate dungeons. Elderroot Cavern, Frostveil Den, and Crystal Hollows. That should push us close to the next threshold."
Then, as if responding to her words, a faint chime echoed in her mind.

Cindy blinked, her heart racing. The letters pulsed softly, almost alive — as though the wind itself was whispering her destiny.
Puff looked up at her with wide, expectant eyes. "You've done it again, Cindy. Another evolution."
She looked down at her hands — faint green and silver light rippling across her skin. She could feel it deep in her soul this time. Not just power — but connection. The wind around her knew her name now. It sang with her heartbeat.
"Which one should I choose?" she murmured softly.
Puff tilted his head. "Both sound incredible. But... what do you want to be?"
Cindy thought for a moment — her eyes reflecting the swirling mana around them. She remembered the first time she woke in this world as a fragile butterfly, terrified and weak. She remembered hiding under leaves, fearing monsters, and clinging to survival.
Now she stood in the heart of a dungeon — strong, confident, and alive.
She smiled. "I want to protect, to guide... and to stand with the spirits, not just as one of them — but as their ally."
Then she made her choice.

The Transformation
The air thickened — the wind itself began to dance around her, swirling faster and faster until the chamber became a vortex of light and motion.
Puff stepped back, shielding his eyes as a radiant glow enveloped Cindy's body.
The dungeon trembled. Crystals shattered. Magic surged through the air like a storm reborn.
Cindy felt her consciousness expand — her heartbeat merging with the rhythm of the air, the whispers of the breeze, the echo of ancient winds that once shaped mountains.
[Evolution in Progress...]
Her form shifted — her wings spread wide, becoming translucent and magnificent, etched with lines of silver and blue light. Her hair flowed longer, tinted faintly with soft turquoise. The faint butterfly pattern on her back pulsed like a living sigil.
When the light finally dimmed, she stood at the center of a gentle whirlwind — no longer merely humanoid, but ethereal. A being born between spirit and mortal.

Cindy slowly opened her eyes. Her irises shimmered faintly like morning dew on glass. The entire dungeon seemed to breathe in rhythm with her presence.
Puff's jaw dropped. "You look... like a goddess."
Cindy blinked, looking at her hands in awe. "I feel... everything. The air outside, the birds flying miles away, even the shift of the wind beyond the mountains."
The system chimed again softly.

A Moment of Stillness
Cindy lifted her gaze toward the faint hole in the ceiling where sunlight filtered through.
The wind played with her hair, gentle and reverent.
She smiled faintly. "I never thought I'd come this far."
Puff nodded, still staring up at her. "And I never thought I'd be your royal guard. But hey, life's full of surprises."
She laughed softly. "Royal guard, huh? I like that."
Puff grinned. "So what now, Queen Cindy?"
Cindy looked toward the exit — where beyond those stone walls, a crimson glow still waited in the west.
"Now," she said, her voice calm but resolute, "we prepare for the next Spirit. The fire one... it's stirring, and we'll be ready."
The wind stirred again — gentle, yet full of promise.
