Volume 2 Chapter 10 - Whispers of the Wind

The gentle hum of the morning breeze filled the air.

Cindy and Puff stood on a grassy hill outside the capital, overlooking the rolling plains below. The sun was just rising — gold and soft, painting the clouds in pink.

After days inside dungeons and endless battles, this quiet morning felt like a gift.

Puff sat cross-legged on a rock, watching Cindy curiously. "So," he said, ears twitching, "you're really going to try out that spirit summon thing?"

Cindy smiled, adjusting the silver ribbons that now tied her longer hair.

Her wings shimmered faintly under the sunlight, translucent like morning mist. "Yes.

I want to see what kind of spirits answer now that I've evolved.

The system said I can summon lesser Sylphs — but it didn't explain how many or what they're like. "

She closed her eyes and let the wind flow through her.

The connection was different now — deeper, more alive. It wasn't just the sound of air; it was voices, faint whispers dancing all around her.

She spread her hand gently.

[Skill Activated: Spirit Summon – Lesser Sylphs]

The world shimmered — ripples of light forming in the air around her. The grass swayed, and small motes of silver drifted upward, gathering at her fingertips.

Then, one by one, shapes began to form.

?

The Birth of the Sylphs

Tiny beings, each no larger than a sparrow, fluttered into existence. Their bodies glowed faintly with green and blue light, and their wings shimmered like spun glass.

They looked like miniature versions of Cindy — delicate, luminous, and joyful. Their laughter echoed like bells carried by the breeze.

"By the Spirits..." Puff murmured, eyes wide. "They're... adorable."

Cindy smiled, heart swelling with warmth. "Hello there."

The little Sylphs circled her happily, a swirl of color and song. Some landed on her shoulders, others twirled around Puff's ears, giggling.

One of them — slightly larger than the rest — hovered before Cindy's face, bowing with tiny grace.

"Queen of the Skies," it said in a soft, musical tone. "We have answered your call."

Cindy blinked, surprised. "You can talk?"

The Sylph tilted its head. "Only when the wind is calm. You've awakened the bond — the old melody between spirits and air."

Puff grinned. "So, you're like her tiny army?"

The little spirit laughed. "Not an army. We are her whispers."

Testing Their Strength

Cindy stepped back, feeling the pulse of mana between them. "Let's see what you can do."

The Sylphs spread out instantly, forming a shimmering circle. At her mental command, they began to dance — twisting in spirals of wind, drawing energy into the air.

Generates localized air currents. Increases projectile speed and mana recovery for allies within range.

The grass around them rippled as if caught in a small storm. Cindy felt lighter, faster, her mana flowing effortlessly.

Puff lifted his staff, eyes sparkling. "Whoa! My magic channels smoother now — like the wind itself is helping me!"

Cindy laughed softly, joy in her chest. "They respond to both of us. That means they recognize you, too, Puff."

The Sylphs giggled, swirling around the two of them. Their soft voices blended with the sound of the wind:

"The Earth and Wind walk together again..."

Then, at Cindy's gesture, they dispersed — fading into faint motes of light that danced back into the breeze.

Cindy sighed in satisfaction. "They're gentle... but strong. I think they can act as scouts or even shields when needed."

Puff nodded approvingly. "They like you. Guess being a queen has its perks."

Cindy smiled at him teasingly. "And as my 'royal guard,' it's your job to keep up."

He smirked. "Your Majesty, I'll try not to disappoint."

A Quiet Promise

The morning wind carried a calm warmth. Cindy sat down on the grass beside Puff, her wings folding gently.

She looked at the horizon — at the faint, distant shimmer of sand glowing under the rising sun. The western desert.

"I think the next Spirit is calling," she murmured.

Puff followed her gaze. "Fire..."

Cindy nodded. "We'll head there soon. But first... I want to master this power completely. If another spirit needs help, I'll be ready this time."

The wind stirred softly, brushing past them as if in agreement.

The tiny Sylphs' laughter echoed faintly, vanishing into the morning air — a promise whispered to the sky.
