I am sitting here drinking a beer and enjoying the warm weather.

We had decided to have a family cookout since we haven’t had one in a long time.

After Uncle Freak was killed, every one of the retired Patched members changed, and so did the rules of the club.

No one outside of the members of the club were allowed at the clubhouse or on the grounds that surrounded the building.

That meant all the women, children, and any other family members were not welcome.

When I took over as club president, I changed that rule, because what is a club without family?

“You are going to get people killed,” my father hisses, rolling my eyes I take a drink of my beer. He is retired, but his ability to let the club go is nonexistent.

“Everything is under control!” I state, as my mother, steps up next to him. She smiles at me, then looks down at my father.

“You need to give him space to run the club,” she says, I smile at my father. I love when mom gets on his ass.

“Fine!” my father relents as he takes a drink of beer that he was holding.

Back when he was President of the Cajun Gypsies, he was ruthless and feared.

An assassin turned MC President. He always got his man.

When Freak was killed, his personality changed, he became more paranoid, over protective.

He stopped living life on the edge and became shut in, keeping everyone away from the club.

When you’re in an outlaw club, you understand the dangers and consequences that lurk around.

“I’m no stranger to the club father. I’ve watched you my whole life run this club,” I tell him, and he leans forward and places his arms on the table.

“I know you’re not. Always protect your family son,” he replies and I nod. I won’t let anything happen to the members. We don’t need a repeat incident like Freaks.

“Buzz!” I hear, and I look over my shoulder, seeing Kyle, one of the Prospects, running towards us.

“What the fuck do you want?” I ask, and he stops a foot from us, trying to catch his breath.

“There is someone unconscious outside the gates,” he replies, I stand from my seat then follow him across the grass and around the front of the clubhouse.

One of the other Prospects opens the gate, and then I see the body.

Seeing the body lying on the ground, small, fragile looking, causes me to break into a run.

When I get close enough, my suspicions are correct, it’s a woman.

“How long has she been out here?” I ask as Kyle comes up beside me.

“Shift was just changed. You may want to ask Fisher,” he replies and I get down on my knees to check to see if she still has a pulse.

She’s gorgeous with her purple dreads, plump lips, athletic body, and lean legs.

I start checking her for wounds, and I hear a moan.

I look over and I quit breathing. The most beautiful green eyes are staring right at me.

“Where am I?” she asks, trying to sit up, and I try to stop her when I see the wound to her head.

“You are outside the gates of the Cajun Gypsies MC,” I reply as she tries to get up but ends up getting dizzy. I grab her, helping her stand up then lead her through the gates and into the clubhouse.

“Thank you,” she whispers and then hisses grabbing her side as she sits down in a chair.

“You need looked at,” I tell her, and she looks up at me. I grab the chair behind me and take a seat in front of her.

“I’ll be fine,” she tells me before passing out again.

Grabbing her up in my arms and carry her into the hallway where our rooms are.

Opening the door to my room, I carry her over to the bed and gently lay her on top of the covers, then step back, hearing the heavy footfalls of something running down the hall, I know that Tats is coming to find out what needs to be done.

“I need someone to come check her over. She’s in pain and she’s passed out again,” I tell him, and he nods before taking off towards the main room. As I look over at the beauty laying unconscious in my bed, I grit my teeth and vow to find out who did this to her.
