Chapter 9 #2

"You know being the king of the criminals isn't something to be proud of? Just thought I'd educate you a bit."

"And do you know that you have a smart mouth that I have a solution for? Keep saying smart ass things and see if I don't gag you."

"Temper, temper, you so need anger management." In one swift motion, Zak had Mariyah beneath him, he kissed her hard. She enjoyed the brutality of his kiss. When he pulled away she was staring at him with awe at his talent

"That's another way of shutting you up." Mariyah did care for him. He could be so sweet sometimes, he found a way into her heart and she was in big trouble.

***

Mariyah searched everywhere for a property that matched his criteria.

She decided to look online and narrowed it down to five houses or more like mansions.

In her wildest dreams, she never thought she would see the inside to these houses.

The real estate agent didn't seem to think she was serious when she told him about the properties she wanted to inspect.

He looked at her clothes and assumed she couldn't afford it.

.. He was right of course, no way in the universe was she ever able to afford that and it dampened her mood.

The houses were amazing, each property was more beautiful than the next, Mariyah couldn't decide. She took the information and pictures of each property and would let Zak decide. It would be his after all.

So the next visit with Zak she showed him the houses and explained about each location, the prices were like in the millions, she never thought he would agree but he didn't even blink when he saw the price. "Which was your favorite?"

"I can't answer that, it's your house you need to decide."

"Mariyah for fucks sake, which did you like best?" She pointed to the property she liked. "Okay good."

"Please don't make me see that real estate guy again, I felt like an idiot.

He knew I couldn't afford it so he was sort of ignoring me and giving these other couples all of his time.

I was just there for the ride, he was answering all their questions and I was invisible.

I mean he was right, there is no way in hell I could afford a place like that.

" She laughed at herself. "I sound so pathetic.

" Zak didn't comment, he continued to look at the property she chose. Yet he remained dead silent.

Her next task was to return to the agent and collect the keys, apparently when you are Zak Michaels you don't need to wait for a cooling off period.

Zak told her to photocopy her license so he could fax it over to them that she would be collecting the key.

Not only was she supposed to move in, he wanted her to furnish the entire house.

Mariyah was overwhelmed, she hadn't even started on an escape plan, he was taking up all her time.

Caleb wasn't happy at all with the way Zak was working Mariyah.

He claimed that Zak always had an agenda.

Mariyah didn't know what to believe anymore.

Her feelings for Zak were just too strong.

She wanted to run from him but something about the way he held her made her truly believe he felt something for her. Maybe even love... Maybe.

Mariyah went to the task of having the mansion ready for Zak, she was taken by the beauty of the property.

It was awesome the view was immaculate, the best part of the whole experience was when she went to pick up the keys the agent had no idea she would be the one collecting the keys.

His eyes dropped when he saw her. His whole face changed and he wasn't quick to ignore her then.

"Zak I don't know where to start with the cleaning, the old owners left quite a bit of mess and dust, what is it with the rich being dirty?" She said to him while sitting in the room she swore she'd never return to.

"Hire somebody to clean it?"

"Hire who? Gees Zak it would cost a fortune to have somebody clean it all. It's massive."

"Mariyah you’re not going to clean the place.

You can stand on top of whoever is cleaning and make sure they do a proper job, hire a company.

Also I need you to hire a full time housekeeper, one that is willing to live there and a cook.

If we need a gardener you need to get on that too. " Mariah’s head was spinning.

"Zak, I can't be responsible for all of this, I start my job again on Monday, my leave is over. I need to get myself sorted out. I can't keep expecting Caleb to support me."

"I don't want you working anymore, so go ahead and quit." Mariah’s eyes opened wide. This was one of those visits where it was going to get ugly, she felt it.

"I'm not giving up my life Zak, I need to earn money to support myself." He shook his head looking like he wanted to smack her.

"Mariyah, I just told you to quit your job. What should your reply be?" She rolled her eyes at him.

"Yes master, as you wish master... What cave did you crawl out from? Gees"

"Okay smart mouth, how bout this, do as your told else you get a smack."

"Go to hell, I'm not going to let you run my entire life. I am capable of making my own decisions."

"You just don't fucking get it. Okay Mariyah have it your way, stay at your job, honey I’ll have you fired within the week, now if I recall, it's better for you to quit, that way if you ever need to apply for another job, it won't look so bad on your resume.

" Now Mariyah understood why she should be planning her escape.

This guy wanted to control every aspect of her life.

"Fine Zak you win, as always you win. I don't know why I bother." She was going to escape him. It was the only way she would have any chance of a normal life.

"Good girl. Now come and give daddy a kiss, I need to touch you.

" Mariyah moved over to him and sat herself on his lap.

She kissed him, she kissed him like she was never going to kiss him again.

She truly did love him and that itself was the hardest thing about leaving him.

It had to be done, he wasn't going to change.

"Why are you crying?" He asked when she pulled away. Mariyah was unaware of her tears.

"It's all just too much, I'm so scared that you’re making me do all this and it's not going to work out with us.

Zak I want you think about what you are doing carefully.

I'm happy to help you sort out your life but you can't keep me like I'm merely an object to you.

" Trying to reason with him one last time

"You’re right Mariyah if it doesn't work out I’ll simply kill you that way you won't be fucking anybody else and I can have piece of mind.

I swear to God sometimes I feel like you deliberately try and piss me off.

" He shoved her off him. "You don't want to be with me?

Fine kid but know this, you will never be with anybody else.

Don't fuck with me babe, you will not like the outcome. "

"Why do you get so worked up for? It's normal for me to have these insecurities, I'm giving up everything and you won't try and help me through it. Zak, you are expecting me to believe in your word but I know nothing at all about you. Can't you see where I'm coming from?"

"I'll be out in a few weeks, so I'm not going to bother sorting you out now, just know this, when I'm out you have nowhere to run.

Nowhere where I can't find you. Everything you are doing now will not go unpunished.

I'm limited to what I can do to you in here with you but trust me kid, it's a whole different ball game when I'm out.

" That was it, Zak had just made up her mind.

She was leaving, today she would tell Caleb that they needed to leave as soon as possible.

No more holding off, no matter how much she loved Zak Michaels, he was not going to change.
