Chapter 10
"Caleb we need to hurry, I don't know how we are going to get away without being noticed. Have you said anything to anybody?"
"Not a soul. I’ve found us a nice place a few hours from here, it's a busy place so we could get lost in the crowd. We need to leave say around four in the morning, I'm sure if you are being followed they won't suspect you to go anywhere at that time." Mariyah nodded her head.
“What about our things?"
"Honey just take what you need, your clothing and anything that's important to you."
"I'm sorry for everything Caleb I swear I'll make it up to you."
"Shhh that's enough, it's going to be fine.
We will get through this okay?" Mariyah nodded her head and went to the task of packing her clothes.
This was really it, she was leaving Zak for good.
Her heart sank, she was going to miss him but more importantly, she was going to be in constant fear now, the thought of Zak finding her.
He would kill her for this but it was a risk she was willing to take.
Zak didn't seem to empathize with anybody, he was so set in his ways.
All Mariyah wanted was a life where she didn't have to worry about every last thing she did.
Zak was easy to get riled up and she was always getting herself into some sort of trouble.
Finally she gathered everything she wanted to take with her.
She felt it necessary to write Zak a letter, explaining why she had to leave.
Hopefully he would forgive her and let her live her life without him.
The letter she wrote was short and sweet, she said what she had to say, ending it with love always Mariyah.
Leaving it on the kitchen bench, if Caleb wanted to say something he didn't. They were ready all they had to do now was make their escape without being noticed.
Caleb hurried packing their belonging in the car.
He was quick and quiet. When he had finished he asked her if she was ready and she nodded, she was as ready as she was ever going to be.
"Okay, let's go." Quietly they made their way to the car which Caleb had wisely parked in the garage.
They entered the garage through the back and opened the front with the remote once they were set and ready.
Caleb drove slowly not wanting to draw any attention to them.
It seemed like it was going well, nothing out of the ordinary and nobody seemed to be following them.
They continued to drive along the road in the dead of night.
Caleb made great time and they didn't stop once until it was lunch time.

The house that Caleb had chosen was very nice. It had a nice garden, the inside had been cleaned and the furniture looked new. "Did you buy all this?"
"Yes, it's okay, we still got some money left from Betty's inheritance, it’s okay, it’s been long overdue for us to have a change. Do you like?" Mariyah grabbed her brother into a tight embrace.
"Caleb I love it, it's perfect. Thank you." She couldn't believe he had all this organized while she was busy organizing Zak's home. Caleb was one in a million, she adored him more then she adored anybody in her whole life. "Did you tell Valeria anything?"
"No, I think it's for the best we don't communicate anymore. I don't trust anybody Mariyah, nobody at all, this is too dangerous a situation to take risks. It was never serious between us anyway, she was just a friend. Now let’s get some rest then we can unpack." Sounded like a fantastic idea.

The next week Mariyah focused on trying to find a job, she went to the local schools and handed in her resume.
She also went to any food shops asking if they were looking for waitresses.
Most said they would call her if anything came up.
Still Mariyah wouldn't allow herself to become disheartened, she continued to search for available positions to hand in her resume.
By the time she returned home she was hammered.
Caleb had more luck finding work, he was offered a truck driving job, it would require him leaving for nights at a time but it was really good money, so he took the job.
"Mariyah I'll install alarms all over the house. I’ll get dead locks and do everything to make you feel safe while I'm gone."
"It's okay Caleb, I was alone for two years remember? I'll be fine, you will be back Friday to Monday, its not a big deal."
"I've been thinking that maybe we should get a gun, I think we need to invest in one."
"Caleb, seriously I can't feel safe knowing there is a gun in the house. Please let's just see how we go."
"Okay but we are definitely getting an alarm installed." She could deal with that.

The first time Caleb left for work Mariyah was trying not to panic.
Being alone knowing that Zak would have figured out they had escaped was daunting.
He would be out by now, Mariyah was wondering if he had seen the house yet.
She had organized everything he had wanted.
It was five hours away from where she lived, which was completely in the opposite direction from where they were now.
Distance was the key, he wouldn't travel so far to look for her.
She shouldn't even be worth that much trouble for him.
Still she knew Zak and he would probably just look for her to punish her or kill her, it was his way to keep control.
She wondered if he received the letter she wrote to him.
If only things had been different and they had met on better terms.
Constantly thinking about him didn't make her fear subside, it did however make her miss him.
She would lay awake at night touching herself remembering the way he worked her body into frenzied orgasms. Boy did she miss his touch.
When she would pleasure herself it never neared the intense pleasure he would evoke in her.
So she went to sleep nowhere near satisfied and this was becoming a problem, she was so sexually frustrated she felt like picking up a random guy just so he could fuck her and maybe just maybe she would be fulfilled like when Zak pleasured her.
Caleb returned on the Friday, the poor guy looked exhausted. "Caleb, maybe this job is too much for you. I will find something and we can half the expenses."
"Mari, it's excellent money, I'll do it for six months just until we have a bit more savings.
It's not so bad, just the last day I felt it.
" Mariyah had prepared a hearty meal for him.
She wanted to make sure he knew she appreciated everything he was doing for her.
He ate his dinner and told her he needed to shower and sleep.
She didn't push him to stay and chat with her, although she was lonely as hell.
It was getting frustrating living alone, Caleb would come on Friday and leave again on Monday.
She was left with nobody to talk to for the rest of the week.
She needed to find herself a job, not for anything except her sanity.
So she went around town and almost begged for work.
That week she got lucky, she was offered an interview at the local school.
It would only be a casual position but it was a start.
Returning home she was elated that she was at least given the opportunity to have an interview.
Turned out she was perfect for the job. She was to start the following week as a year four teacher had to take her maternity leave.
So with a little more excitement than she had since they moved in here, Mariyah organized her clothes for work.
It was a little nerve wrecking to start a new job, but it was nice to get out and meet new people.
At least when she returned home she would actually seek the peace and quiet.

The time Caleb returned home that week she was so excited to share the news with him. But he didn't seem to share her enthusiasm "I thought you might be a little more excited."
"Mariyah, to be honest with you, I'm not comfortable with you working at the moment. I think you should lay low for a while."
"Caleb I'm honestly going out of my head with boredom. I can't stay cooped up in here, it's been nearly four weeks now, I'm going insane." She placed the back of her hand on her forehead for dramatic effect.
"Mari be serious..."
"I'm going to work Caleb, it's only for a few months anyway, I'm covering for maternity leave." He nodded his head in agreement.
"Promise me you'll stay out of trouble. I won't be around the corner anymore."
"Me in trouble?" When he didn't look amused at her sense of humor she rolled her eyes. "Promise I'll do everything I can to stay out of trouble."
"You my sister a little brat sometimes. I think I have over spoilt you." He said playfully slapping her across her head
"Yeah yeah." It was nice when it felt like old times between them. Ever since Caleb returned from prison it had been a little awkward, still he was her big brother and she loved him to the moon and back.
When Monday was upon them, Mariyah said her goodbyes to Caleb and was ready for work. She was bright and early and was ready to take on the world. The students in her class were brats, they were loud and noisy and wouldn't listen to her whatsoever. No wonder she got the job.
