Epilogue #2
Peyton is wearing a white dress with spaghetti straps.
There’s a blood red ribbon tied around her waist that runs down along the back of her dress.
Red roses have been sewn into the bottom of the dress as well.
Peyton’s hair is swept up in some kind of updo thing with a few stray tendrils curling around her face and the back of her neck.
There’s almost no make-up on her face other than her eyes.
They’ve been done up in a smokey shade that makes them really stand out.
What truly draws my attention is the smile on her face as she stares at me and a lone tear slides down my face with every step she takes toward me.
I don’t give a fuck about shedding some tears as I take in my girl looking this damn stunning.
It feels like time takes forever before Gary is placing Peyton’s hand in mine and our twins are handed over to us.
With them in our arms, Rooster starts speaking but I can’t focus on his words.
My full attention is on the woman standing in front of me as another tear slips free and I see one slide slowly down Peyton’s face.
“Carbon, it’s time for you to say your vows,” Rooster says, finally pulling my attention toward him.
With a nod of my head, I clear my throat and begin speaking.
“Peyton, I’ve loved you since we were in high school and pretended to need you as a tutor.
Still, my grades improved and I didn’t have to ever worry about failin’ a test with you at my side.
Durin’ the years we were separated, I spent every fuckin’ day lookin’ for you and wonderin’ where you were in the world.
If you were okay and happy with your life.
The night in the bar when we reconnected was the best night of my life.
It started this journey we’re on and I’m one lucky bastard who gets to call you mine and spend the rest of my days lovin’ you and makin’ sure you’re safe, happy, and loved more than ever before,” I tell her as I lean forward and kiss the back of her hand since I can’t kiss her yet.
“I love you more today than yesterday and that will be how our love continues to grow movin’ forward.
Our family is perfectly imperfect and there isn’t anythin’ else I want in my life. ”
“Peyton, it’s your turn,” Rooster says as I continue to look at my future.
“Matt, you have always been my safe place. The one part of my life outside of my family where I could truly be myself and didn’t have to worry about being mocked or made fun of because I wasn’t like everyone else.
You make me feel safe and at peace for the first time in a very long time.
I can’t wait to watch our children grow up into the men and women they’re destined to be while we grow old together.
You’re slowly putting me back together again from the damage to my heart that you didn’t cause.
You’re a true man and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my days loving you and showing you exactly how much you mean to me.
You’ve given me everything I want in my life and I can’t wait to experience where our life takes us,” Peyton says, a smile on her face and tears shimmering in her eyes.
“I love you Matt Whitfield and always will.”
We repeat after Rooster while exchanging rings. Finally, it’s to the part I’ve been waiting for.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife. Carbon, you may kiss your bride,” Rooster says, his voice loud and commanding as I lean forward and kiss my wife like our lives depend on it.
Someone takes the twins from our arms so I can pull Peyton closer without breaking the kiss. Everything around us fades to nothing as I continue to kiss my wife. It’s not until I feel a hand on my shoulder that I reluctantly pull away from her but don’t release my hold.
“You two should get a room if you wanna continue that kiss,” Callum says, smirking once again as I turn to face him fully with Peyton in my arms.
“That will happen later. Gotta feed my wife and ensure she has the perfect reception to make today one of the best in her life,” I tell my brother as we start to make our way out behind the clubhouse.
I’m amazed by how everything is set up under a large tent in case it starts to rain or anything.
There are separate tables for food, the cake is standing all alone in the corner of the tent, and a few tubs are filled with ice and drinks.
There’s a dance floor that’s been created between the food and where the tables are set up.
Marie leads us to a table away from all the other ones and snaps her fingers for the Prospects to bring plates full of food over to us.
“You remain sitting right here and let everyone here take care of you. This is your special day after all and you won’t be getting up unless you have to.
The photographer is waiting to take pictures, but Peyton needs to eat.
She hasn’t eaten since dinner yesterday so I’ve put her off for now,” Marie informs us, her voice sweet as she leaves the table so we can eat while everyone else gets in line for food.
Our family members are taking care of the kids as Peyton and I enjoy our day.
They won’t be far from us, but are giving us enough space to truly have fun.
We spend the day dancing, talking, laughing, having our pictures taken, and then eating cake before I take my wife to our home for our wedding night.
I worship her body all night long until the sun starts to come up.
The only time we stop is to get a snack and something to drink.
Even when we take a shower, we spend more time getting dirty than actually washing.
It’s the perfect night if you ask me and I can’t wait to experience this on a regular basis for the rest of my life.
