Chapter 33
-:- VICTORIA -:-
The morning of the wedding!
Bitty is with me inside Mia and Axel’s room. Mia has offloaded the kids–that is how she described it with laughter in her eyes. Everyone knows she adores her children, and she is confident with the people who watch over them when she is busy.
“You are beautiful, Victoria. Thank you for asking me to stand with you while preparing for your wedding.”
“Bitty, I thank you for being here with me. It’s hard without Bethy, as she was the one who was always by my side. Now I feel lost without her.”
Bitty hugs me and kisses my cheek. “I know it’s hard, and it’s how I felt when I lost my husband. I wandered for quite some time not knowing what to do with my life. But we live on, and that is what Bethy would want you to do. So come on, let’s get your hair done ready for getting dressed.”
“Shall I put my dress on first? I can put a towel around my shoulders to stop any hair falling or products getting on me.”
Bitty is doing her best to keep me excited about the wedding, and we laugh about various things she has done in her lifetime. When she talks about Amelia and Sybil, I listen carefully. What I take from the conversation is that they are not listening to her. We can do something about that I’m sure!
We both smiled at Mia when she bustled into the room. “Did I hear you talking about you know what as I walked in?”
Bitty sighs, and I giggle because the look on Bitty’s face says it all. She’s been caught in such a way that she’ll have to tell Mia more about what was happening.
The discussion between them was interesting, and I’m positive Mia will have this sorted out quickly. Amelia and Sybil need a sit down with Bitty and Mia. That way it can all be discussed and put to rights.
“Next week, you, me, and those two will get this sorted out, Bitty. It’s gone on long enough, and you are not leaving the club.
You are part of this along with all the rest of us.
If needed I’ll get Axel on the case, and then you’ll see some shit hitting the fan.
” Mia giggles and I have to admit both Bitty and I laugh along with her.
I got the required something old, which is a bracelet that Bitty gave me.
It was a gift from her sister as a Christmas present.
Something new is a necklace that Mia gave me, and I was surprised she would do that.
Something borrowed is a tiny brooch that you can hardly see, but it’s a horseshoe and supposed to bring luck, that was given to me by Star.
Star explained her father gave it to her, and she wore it whenever she was competing.
Something blue is the garter I’m wearing, and hopefully Chaos will love seeing it later in the evening.
Mia rushes away to get her seat. I’m going to meet Corey at the kitchen door ready to walk to Chaos, but first I want to give Bitty something.
“Bitty, this is a gift that Bethy gave me. One of the many gifts she gave me actually, but I would like you to have it. Both myself and Bethy are so grateful that you are acting as my mother and friend. Please accept this Bitty, it would mean the world to me.”
Bitty has tears in her eyes and takes the necklace with a crucifix. She places it around her neck before hugging me and whispering, “Thank you.”
Clapping my hands together, I give a huge smile. “Okay, let’s get this show on the road.”
Bitty laughs and heads out of the room with me right behind her. Corey is standing with Lincoln ready to walk me to Chaos. “Are you ready, Momma?”
“I am, son, I am,” I reply, and taking his hand he starts the walk towards Chaos.
The wedding goes without a hitch, and the eating, dancing, and drinking makes this a huge celebration.
After getting changed into casual clothing, I find Chaos and the other brothers chasing each other all over the dance area.
It’s wild, but so much fun. Corey and the twins are up to mischief, but I pretend I don’t see it.
They are enjoying themselves, and that’s what I want.
I couldn’t have wished for a better wedding. The future is looking good and I’m where I want to be, with a man who loves me and a ready-made son who I adore.
****
Sunday morning, and it had been a long night. I hope Corey didn’t hear us because Chaos and I had loved each other nearly all night long. Who knew there were so many positions for making love? Chaos seems to know them all, which at one point had me becoming very annoyed with him.
I don’t want to think of who he’s been with before me. I have to just consider myself lucky that I have a man who is capable of loving in all the best of ways.
Walking around the house with Corey talking a mile a minute, I cannot help but think this place is going to save us a lot of money. So much was left by the previous owner, and it has all been loved and looked after. I’m thinking that I’ll keep and use it all.
Picking up my phone, I find Bitty’s number and give her a call, which she answers quickly. “Hi, Bitty. I have a question.”
“Is everything okay?” Bitty asks, and I can hear by her tone of voice that she’s worried.
“Yes. Everything is fine. But, you know I’m doing the fundraising in Bethy’s name, I wondered if you'd help me organize it?”
“Me? You want me to help organize it?”
“That’s what I said. I want to discuss with you what we can do and how we can do it. How about I have lunch with you tomorrow at the clubhouse so we can throw some ideas around?”
Bitty laughs. “I’d love to, Victoria. I’ll think about ideas in the meantime.”
“Great, that is fantastic. Thank you. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Chaos worked in the yard cleaning the area while Corey organized his room, right before helping me empty cabinets in the kitchen where we found baking trays, rolling pins, and all the baking and cooking ware you could ever need.
“We won’t have to buy anything for the kitchen, Corey,” I say as I slide a toaster back into a cabinet.
“Do you think the lady was sad to leave everything behind?” Corey is wide-eyed at the number of things in the cabinets.
“If she wanted them, she would have organized to take them. I think she just wanted to be with her family. You know things are not as important as people. If I could have you and Chaos, or have the house and things, it would be very easy to choose you and Chaos.”
“I would choose you, Momma,” Corey quickly says as he launches himself toward me, hugging me tightly. We both have happy tears running down our cheeks.
When arms wrap around both of us and Chaos states surprisingly calmly. “What’s going on? Who do I have to kill?” both myself and Corey laugh.
“Nobody needs killing, Dad. We are just happy,” Corey quickly tells Chaos, right before he turns in my arms so he can wrap himself around Chaos.
“Okay, let’s get to the mudroom, Corey. We’ve got things to sort out,” I quickly drag him along after me, and of course, Chaos follows. “Have you finished in the yard?” I ask.
“Yeah, I’m going to order a bike shed, a garage, a cookout area, and anything else we need.
Hammer can put it all on his list of things that need doing.
I’ve got to get back to work tomorrow or Target and Winter will kick my ass.
” Chaos holds the box of shoe cleaning equipment that was in a cabinet I’ve opened, while I take a look at what else we can either use, donate or get rid of.
We work from room-to-room, laughing and enjoying ourselves.
I remember my call to Bitty and quickly tell Chaos.
“I’ve asked Bitty to help with the fundraising.
I’m not sure what we can do, but something that can help victims would be good.
Even if it’s just money to boost a charity that will be better than doing nothing. ”
“That’s a good idea. Bitty has been feeling left out for a while, and I overheard Mia talking, and she’s going to get things right in the kitchen. But getting her to feel useful is a great idea, Vicky.”
Nodding in agreement because I know she needs to feel she belongs, and that’s something that sadly she has missed of late.
“I can help fundraise,” Corey adds, and he is looking at me with such a serious face that I can’t help but smile.
“You can. I’ll make sure you can help us, but how I don’t know yet.” I mess with the top of Corey’s hair, and he rolls his eyes and sighs, which has Chaos laughing at him.
When my phone buzzes I know I have a message, so I quickly take my phone out of my jeans pocket and am surprised to see it's Star.
Star: Don’t forget our ladies’ night. I’m thinking the upcoming weekend. Saturday night. I’ll tell Kya and she can get the girl gang organized.
I turn the phone so Chaos can see the message. He simply nods and waits for me to finish.
Victoria: No problem on Saturday night. Let me know the time and I’ll make sure I am ready. Are you picking me up? Or what is happening?
Star: I’ll make sure you get picked up. I’ll speak to you during the week at the clubhouse.
Victoria: OK.
Well, that was organized without too much fuss. I’m sure Star will give me my outfit for the night during the week too. She was the one making sure we got them, so I’m leaving her to do it.
I can’t wait actually, because I think it’s going to be great fun!
