CHASE
By the time I stepped outside, the snow had turned into a soft blanket covering the ground. I put on my gloves and coat before leaving the building.
As I walked the cold streets, the thought of Coffee changing had my mind all over the place.
Did that doctor nigga get in her head? Or had she become tired of playing mom to kids that weren’t hers?
I’ve never been a man of insecurity, but Coffee had me questioning everything.
If she were ready, giving her a baby wouldn’t be a question.
Shit, we had been blessed with the opportunity, but it was taken from us.
I didn’t know if she was even ready for that again.
Still, it wouldn’t surprise me if she were pregnant, because Coffee and I had sex all the time, but something felt different, and I could sense it.
My mind had been racing so much that I hadn’t noticed how far I had walked.
I never thought the day would come when she would feel like she couldn’t confide in me.
I had fucked up in so many ways with Natalie that when it came to Coffee, I made sure not to hold back.
I wanted to know how she was feeling all the time.
I didn’t let anyone get close to her, and I made sure to give her whatever she needed when she needed it.
If she wanted money, she had it. If she wanted to be pampered, I paid for people to come to her.
If she wanted to vent about her day, I listened without judgment.
If she wanted her pussy eaten, I was eating that shit like a goon; if she wanted dick, I served her dick for breakfast. Coffee had a nigga’s soul, and whatever her wish was, no matter if it meant I had to shed blood, I was making sure every one came true.
When I finally focused on what lay ahead, I scanned the nearly empty streets, then looked back at Mr. Rogers, who was coming out of a store with a bottle of wine in his hand.
I sucked my teeth as I debated whether tonight was about to be his last night breathing.
I tried to bring my mind to a place of peace, but something inside of me saw him as a snake.
The more I stared at his goofy-looking ass, the more Menace was emerging.
I eased the beanie down on my head and tucked part of my face into my coat as I followed behind him.
This wasn’t my idea of a Holly Jolly fucking holiday, but if he thought being around Coffee all in her fucking face was going to be a thing, he came across the wrong one.
I started jogging up behind him, letting my flats tap into the snow. As soon as his head turned, I pushed that nigga into the nearest alleyway. “What the hell!” he shouted.
“Hell is where you’re going,” I gritted.
He swung the wine bottle at me, hitting the side of my head. “Fuck!” I shouted.
When he tried to run, I snatched the back of his coat, pulling him back. “Man, please!” he screamed.
“Please, my ass!” I barked as I slammed him against the cold brick wall.
When he finally looked at me, the arrogant nigga got scared really fast. “Wait, I-I saw you before,” he muttered.
A sinister grin eased onto my face. “Menace. Menace Carter.” I winked.
Fist to his gut. Fist to his face.
I watched as the blood poured from his mouth and nose. He tried to raise his hand, but I didn’t give a fuck. This nigga was done. “You want Coffee? Huh nigga?”
His hands trembled as he watched me draw my hand back before hitting him in the face again. “Ah, Co-Coffee’s my employee,” he cried.
The cold smoke from my breath hung in the air as I took deep breaths. “I don’t give a fuck. She should have warned you, but she didn’t. Coffee Carter is my wife, and for her, no nigga is safe!”
I reached down and grabbed the broken wine bottle.
I let go of his coat, making him feel free.
As soon as he stood up straight, I jabbed the sharp end of the bottle into his throat.
I stood over him as he dropped to his knees, gurgling and choking on his own blood.
“Merry muhfuckin’ Death-Mas,” I said as I backed out of the alley.
I pulled my coat back up to my face as I headed back to the condo.
Would Coffee be upset about it once I told her, maybe, but she knew how she felt outside that hospital.
I smiled as a sense of satisfaction filled me.
Now I needed to burn off the rest of this energy, then afterward we could talk it all out.
Until then, Menace was here for the night, and until the nigga disappeared, Coffee’s pussy wasn’t safe.
