Chapter 17 Xyleek
Chapter Seventeen
Xyleek
If looks could kill, I would’ve been dead the second I opened the door to Makenna’s office.
She went from laughing with whoever she was on the phone with to a death stare that made my tough ass cringe a lil’ bit.
I knew Makenna didn’t fuck with me, and under any other circumstances, that shit would not matter to me.
As long as Drek loved me, never mind who didn’t.
Ken was important to Angel, so she had to be somewhat important to me, too.
Plus, with her being married to Jah, I figured it’d be a whole lot easier if we were all getting along, hence the reason for me popping up on her.
If I would’ve scheduled something with her, she wouldn’t have agreed to it, so an impromptu visit was my best option.
“Sunny, let me call you back,” she whispered into the phone before hanging up and placing it on her desk.
“The only reason you would be standing here is because something happened to Jah and he’s incapable of calling me himself.
Being that I just spoke to him a few minutes ago, I know that’s not true, so what the fuck you want? ”
Chuckling, I walked all the way in, closing the door behind me. “One thing about you, Ken, is that you don’t bite your tongue.”
“It’s Makenna,” she corrected me in a snappy tone, her eyes still cutting me down to size. “And I said, what the fuck do you want?”
Blowing out a deep sigh, I took a seat and leaned back, just staring at her for a minute.
I had been on a world tour of apologizing for my fuck ups to people in Drek’s life because I knew they mattered to her.
Giulio and Joanna might’ve been tough, but Makenna?
Shit, Makenna was a different breed of intimidating.
She hated my ass with de strength of de black pantha, and she’d choke me out with her bare hands if given the opportunity.
With the way she was staring through my soul, today might’ve been that opportunity.
“To apologize,” I spoke after the thick, strained silence lingered between us.
Her eyebrows jumped. “Apologize?”
“Yeahhhhh,” I dragged the word out with a dry chuckle. “The thing people do when they’ve fucked up.”
“Are you possessed right now?” Her head tilted like she was tryna figure out if a demon was gon’ jump out of me or not.
“Don’t make this shit weird,” I rubbed my fingertips against my forehead.
“Me? Make it weird?!” She laughed loudly and sarcastically.
“Nigga, weird walked in with an apology but let’s talk about it,” her sharp tone sliced into me as she sat straight up, letting me know she was about to start sending bullets with her mouth.
“You think an apology is supposed to erase all of the manipulation and toxic bullshit you dragged my sister through? You pushed her into a fuckin’ mental hospital, Xyleek, so please tell me how the fuck an apology is supposed to make that disappear? ”
I cracked my knuckles while chewing on my top lip.
“It doesn’t. The apology isn’t to make anything disappear, Makenna.
It’s my way of starting to take accountability and turn the page.
I’m not proud of anything I’ve done to Drek, and I carry her pain with me every day.
And I need to because it’s a reminder of what I never want to make her feel again.
I can’t undo everything I’ve already done, but I can control what happens moving forward.
I’m changing myself to become a version of me that actually fuckin’ deserves her, that’s all. ”
Silence, again, but her face started to fall just a smidge, the murderous glare in her eye being replaced with something I’d never seen in her eye for me. I wasn’t sure if it was sympathy or what, but the muscles around her eyes softened ever so slightly.
A long, deep sigh passed her lips as she crossed her arms and sat back in her chair. “You have a long way to go.”
“I know.”
“And I still don’t trust you.”
I nodded once. “I know that, too.”
“But…you’ve never come directly to me before to try and talk about your shortcomings so that’s saying something,” she acknowledged, making me smirk, and she pointed her sharp nail in my direction.
“Don’t get arrogant, nigga. You’re still a dickhead for how you’ve treated her all these years. And you fuckin’ ugly.”
Breaking out into a deep laughter, I clapped my hands. “God forbid you give a nigga a compliment. You might melt.”
“I’ll curl up and die,” she pretended like she was gagging with an eyeroll. “I still think you need to be baptized in the Jordan River…or drowned in it,” she got this far away look in her eyes like she was imagining drowning my ass.
Right when I opened my mouth to bring her back to reality from my death, her office door opened.
Turning my head in that direction, Jah stepped in with a confused expression on his face.
I hadn’t told him that I was coming to sit down with Makenna either.
I knew his loyal ass was gon’ run right to her and snitch, so I couldn’t risk him ruining what I had going on.
“Ma, why you look like you plotting a murder?” Jah questioned, his eyes bouncing from her to me and then back to her.
Folding her hands together, she sat back with a satisfied smirk like she’d mentally worked out all the details of my death. “Huh? Me? I ain’t,” she stood up, walking around her desk and greeting him with a kiss. “Alright…maybe I was, but it’s not like I haven’t thought about it a thousand times.”
“Man,” I sucked my teeth and laughed, standing up as well. “Let me get the fuck out of here,” I dapped Jah up.
“What was you doing here in the first place?”
“Oh baby, you didn’t know? Xyleek wanted to come apologize for how shitty he’s treated Drek,” Ken quipped, a wicked gleam in her eyes.
Dragging my hand down my face, I started to wonder how the fuck Jah enjoyed being married to her big-headed ass.
Her sarcasm was on a different level, and on top of that, she was annoying as hell.
Was this what marriage looked like? Hell nah ‘cause I knew being married to Drek was gon’ be much different.
Jah’s eyebrows rose in surprise and amusement, but I wasn’t about to give him the opportunity to talk a hole in my head about the shit.
I’m sure that would come later on anyway, and for that reason alone, I planned to ignore him for the next few days.
I could feel a small shift in energy between me and Makenna and that was good enough.
We didn’t need to be best friends. That wasn’t my goal going to talk to her, but I did feel like she saw me in a slightly different light than the toxic, emotionally immature man I’d been over the years.
And that was a small win that I was willing to take.
“Honestly, the fact that the two of y’all in this closed space, and Xy, you not on the floor dead, tells me everything I need to know,” he grinned.
Makenna scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, he still irritates the fuck out of me.”
“And you still look like you bite people,” smirking, I tapped two fingers against my lips and tossed them in the air as she started cursing me out.
Laughing all the way to my car, I jumped inside and started it up, allowing the heat to warm up the interior.
I really hoped Drek saw all the work I was putting in to prove to her I was a changed man.
In the past, I would’ve never thought to sit down with Makenna.
In my mind, it was fuck Makenna, but that was the old me.
The new me wanted whatever Drek wanted, and Drek would definitely want Makenna to be part of our big day.
After the car was as warm as I wanted it, I headed to the crib where I knew Drek was.
“You went and saw Ken?” Drek asked the moment I walked into the house.
I laughed at her ass sitting on the steps like she was ready to do something to me. “I did,” I walked up to her and kissed her on the lips.
“And you didn’t feel the need to tell me that you were going to see my best friend?”
“Did you tell me when you was pulling up on Blow to fuck him up for lying for me?” I slipped my arms under hers and raised her to her feet, noticing her hard nipples through the t-shirt she was wearing.
“That was a different situation,” she giggled as I raised the shirt and began sucking on her nipples. “Stop! Don’t try to distract me! What did you go there for?”
I placed a few kisses between her breasts. “She didn’t tell you?”
“No. She just said to tell you not to pop up on her again or she gon’ shoot you.”
I sucked my teeth, pulling my boxers that she had on down to her ankles. “I’m not worried about Makenna or her lil’ ass bullets. I’m hungry.”
“Xyleek!” She whined with the stomp of her foot. “What did you go there for?”
Dropping to my knees, I gazed up at her. “Angel, ya man is horngry. Sit down. Feed me.”
With a playful roll of her eyes, she sat her pretty ass back down on the stairs and spread eagle for me.
Licking my lips, I dragged my nose through her center to keep her scent in my nostrils while my tongue delivered pleasurable strokes against her clit.
Pressing my middle and ring finger deep inside of her, I twisted them side to side, making her moan, scream, and cream all over my fingers.
“Xyyyyy,” she whimpered, staring down at me while holding the back of her thighs. “Gahdamn you know that you know how to eat some pussy. Shit!”
“Mmmhmm,” temporarily removing my mouth, I vigorously rubbed my free hand against her swollen pearl. “I told you. I’m the only muthafucka that can do this pussy right, ain’t it?”
She nodded, her facial features pulling together tighter, which indicated she was on the verge of exploding. “Yes, yes baby, yes!”
“Now fill me up, Angel. Let me taste that good ass cum.”
“Okaaaayyyyy!”
