Chapter 12 Sea

Sea

My phone buzzes, waking me from the most incredible dream of Milo licking every inch of my body until I realize it wasn't just a dream. Milo really did lick every part of my body last night.

We're really not good at sticking to just one night.

Snapping my eyes open, I grab my phone from the bedside table. "Hello."

“Sea, I'm so glad you answered. You're a miracle worker.

All of Milo's sponsors want to sign him to multiyear, multimillion-dollar contracts.

And we landed the big one. It seems most companies either know you or have heard of you.

They think you're amazing and believe you're the perfect woman for Milo.

They loved the pictures of you and Milo with your cats from yesterday's photoshoot. Putting them on Instagram was pure genius, if I do say so myself. They especially loved the ones with the two of you dressing the cats in those little outfits.”

"That's good." My sleep-filled brain is still trying to process what she's saying.

“Yes, it's really good. They all want Milo to sign the contracts today. It may take a few days to finalize all the details. But don't you see, your obligation ends once Milo signs the contracts.”

“Yeah, that's really good.” I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but what else am I supposed to do when I have to end this fake relationship with Milo? "Um, I've got to go. I'll call you later."

I don't give Lake a chance to say goodbye before I hang up the call and turn toward Milo's side of the bed to find him wide awake.

"I guess you heard all that." I glance down at the covers, unable to meet his gaze.

The sunlight streaming through the window catches the diamonds in his grandmother's ring.

I place my hand on the ring and begin to slide it off my finger.

"I'll stop at the jewelers and have it cleaned today.

I'll have Lake give it back to you." I glance back up at Milo's face to see him scowling.

“Like hell you will. I don't give a damn about those contracts.

All I know is this relationship might have started as fake, but I've fallen for you, and I want to see where this goes.

That means you wear that ring until we decide to end a real relationship or you're giving it to our oldest son to give to his fiancée.”

“Oh, Milo. Are you certain?” Tears well up in my eyes.

“Yes, I'm sure. And I plan to spend my life building a real relationship with you.” He pulls me into his arms, kissing me deeply. “I love you, Sea, and I intend to spend the rest of my life loving you, if you’ll have me.”

“Of course I’ll have you, Milo, I love you.”

“Good, because I have plans for us that start immediately.” He lifts the covers, kissing his way down my body until he’s positioned between my thighs.

“What about signing your contracts?” I grip his hair in my hand and give it a little tug until he looks at me.

“The contracts can wait, this pussy can’t.” He lowers his head, showing me how much he desires me.

It isn’t until much later in the day that we manage to tear ourselves away from each other so he can sign the contracts.

Surprisingly, none of his sponsors were upset about the delay.

It seems like they prefer this new, more settled version of Milo that has always been there—he just needed the right woman to shield him from all the horny puck bunnies.
