CLUSTERF*CK
Chapter 1
APRIL
“I’ll take a large coffee, a bear claw, and most importantly, your phone number.”
That was the first sentence Eddie Sykes ever spoke to me.
I had two immediate thoughts.
This guy has some balls.
He also might be the most attractive man I’ve ever seen.
Yes, he was tall, dark, and handsome, but that didn’t do him justice. I’d met plenty of men who fit that description. Eddie was different.
He had a confidence and a swagger that was disarming. The fact that he was probably five or six years older than me, and his thin beard had a few flecks of gray, didn’t bother me. It made him more attractive.
If I’d still been single, I probably would have taken the bait.
But over the last three years, I’d only slept with one man: my husband, David.
That’s right, I was married.
So I did what any married woman would do. I lifted my hand and let my wedding ring catch the light.
“Maybe you should just stick to the coffee and the bear claw,” I suggested.
He laughed and shot me a devastating smile. “That just makes this more of a challenge.”
