Icould have been more subtle when I first met April Devers, but subtlety has never been my specialty.
I learned long ago that women preferred a man who was upfront with his motives, even when that woman was married.
So I asked April for a coffee, a bear claw, and her phone number.
She looked me over for a few seconds longer than necessary. I knew she liked what she saw.
I mean, what woman didn’t?
A few seconds later, she flashed me her wedding ring. I’d expected that, but it didn’t give me any pause.
As I told her, that only made it more of a challenge.
Besides, I already knew April wasn’t happy in her marriage.
You see, April wasn’t just some random woman I was hitting on.
April had been selected.
