Something was off with David.

I could tell right away. He got home on Friday night and was acting weird right away.

We both knew our marriage wasn’t in the best spot, and yet, he was going out of his way to compliment me every chance he got.

And not in a nice, subtle way. In an over-the-top, where-did-this-come-from type of way.

He would have made a terrible actor.

When he asked me Saturday afternoon if I wanted to go to dinner, it just confirmed what I’d been thinking.

Something was up.
