Chapter 36

DAVID

When we arrived home from dinner, and April went to change her clothes, I finally had a chance to check my messages.

There was only one that I cared about, and it came from Tuff Richardson.

Rage engulfed me. I couldn’t help myself. All the talk when I’d gotten off work on Friday about how this was probably a good thing for me went out the window when I imagined my wife fucking some dude at a seedy hotel on Pico.

I knew Hotel Pico, and it was a complete and utter dive. This somehow made it worse. If she was going to cheat on me, I at least wish it had been at an upscale hotel. Instead, they were meeting at the seedy Hotel Pico. Gross.

You can’t be sure she’s cheating on you, I told myself.

No, I guess not, but it sure felt like that’s what was going on.

I’d be at Hotel Pico on Tuesday morning to find out firsthand.
