Chapter 94
APRIL
I’d won our little tit for tat, without question.
But that didn’t mean Lucy hadn’t put the fear of God in me. She knew a lot more than I’d imagined. She was an imminent threat to my freedom.
On the bright side, she’d said, she could tell the police all that information. She could. That meant she hadn’t yet. She probably didn’t want to help out the LAPD after they arrested her.
Relocating the murder weapon had been crucial.
Since Lucy’s first visit to the coffee shop, I knew the only way I could truly be worry-free was if Lucy were dead. After her second visit this morning, I found that to be truer than ever.
With Lucy out there, I was never going to rest easy, and it was more than likely she’d eventually lead the cops to me. Every day that passed meant another day she could just walk into the LAPD and start taking.
I couldn’t have that happen, so whatever I came up with had to be done soon.
Over the course of the day, I started to formulate a wild plan, and I thought it might just work.
And it involved Lucy’s phone, and the all-important password—357753.
