38. Epilogue

Epilogue

Kaitlyn

City living and country living are different in so many ways.

While our house was being built, we shared time between staying in my apartment in the city and also, when we needed to be nearby, we stayed with my father and Hilary. There were pluses and minuses to both. Today, we hit a milestone. It’s the last night in the apartment before we turn it back over to Mika. When I left here the first time, there were so many unknowns. There was so much sadness. This time, there’s a bit of sadness, but so much more excitement.

The house is basically finished. There are a few details that need to be ironed out, but nothing that will prevent us from moving in. With all the final boxes we’re going to take with us lined near the front door, and Griffin finishing the dishes from dinner, I let the hot water from the shower rain over my tired body.

My face is turned up to the gentle stream, allowing the warmth to trickle down my body. I tune out everything around me until I hear the weight of Griffin’s bare feet on the tile right outside the shower. “May I help you?” I ask.

The next thing I hear is Griffin’s jeans and belt open. His white T-shirt hits the floor with what I can only describe as a sound of victory. “Honestly, I think I can help you. Care for company?”

“Well, since you’re already here.” I shrug my shoulders nonchalantly, but with a smile.

His chuckle sends a shiver from my toes to my neck, only made more pronounced when he slides the glass door open to step inside. The cool air from the bathroom whips through the steam.

“Scoot forward a little,” he urges. His body is large and looming over mine. He doesn’t exactly fit easily in my tiny, New York City apartment shower.

“It wasn’t exactly built for two, was it?” I joke.

“Nope, but that makes it all the better,” he replies before slipping an arm around my middle and pulling me back against his body. “The warm water makes your skin so plump and soft,” he whispers against my ear before kissing it. “Maybe I made the shower in our suite too large. This feels…nice.”

I can feel his growing cock pressing into my back. “It feels lots of ways. While we can try creativity here, there’s something to be said about room to move.”

“Kaitlyn, you should know by now I don’t let obstacles get in my way.”

Griffin’s right hand reaches into the shower niche, taking hold of my shampoo bottle. The subtle scent starts to drip across my scalp. He slowly begins to work the suds into a lather down my locks, as he sways his hips back and forth with the movement of his hand.

I reach back, holding on to the backs of his thighs. The bubbles start to drip off the ends of my hair over my skin. His left thumb reaches up to swirl a few of them across my nipple. I hiss at the sensation.

“That’s not my hair.”

“It absolutely isn’t, is it?” He pinches it between his fingers and tugs.

“Oh, God.” I drop my head back to his shoulder.

He guides me gently to rinse the suds from my hair before taking my sponge and a bit of body wash and lathers it between his hands. With a delicate hand and careful precision, he washes my skin, and when I think he’s nearly finished, he glides the sponge across my pussy.

“Hands on the wall, baby,” he demands and I comply without a second thought.

He drops the sponge to the floor and his hand takes its place, teasing me and exploring between my legs until I’m shivering for a whole new reason.

Griffin pulls my hair over one shoulder so his lips can suckle the water off my neck. The subtle movement of his fingers between my folds intensifies as he uses them to anchor my body to him. The heat of the water, the pulse of the water over my body, and the vibration of his fingers are a sexy trilogy that makes me forget everything other than right here and right now.

“Jesus, Griffin,” I exhale.

His teeth take a gentle bite of my skin. “Indeeeeed,” he moans.

I can feel the tension brewing deep in my belly and my toes begin to curl. My hips start to move, rocking against his hand, chasing the orgasm that is just on the horizon.

“Griffin… I…” my voice is breathy, like I’ve run a marathon. “You’re making me come.”

“Then be a good girl and come for me,” he growls in my ear and it’s like he’s pressed the “orgasm button.”

I feel my spirit fold onto itself for a split second before exploding into a million colorful, dancing pieces. If it weren’t for his strong arm around my middle, holding me on my feet, I’d likely crumple to the floor. “FUUUUUUCK!”

He chuckles in the crook of my neck. “Watching you come will always be my favorite thing.”

I lick my lips. “You must be proud of yourself, huh?”

“Every time.”

“Good,” I say as I drop my hands from the wall, spin around in his grip, and sink to my knees in front of him. “Let’s see if I can make myself proud too.”

“What are you doing?” he groans.

“If you don’t know, I’ve not done this enough.”

His tense cock takes its first tease from my tongue. It winds in a tight lazy circle around his tip. Griffin presses his right hand against the cold tile while his left massages the top of my head. I tilt my eyes up to see him looking down at me. His normally bright eyes have darkened to something so sensuously sinful; I could come again just from seeing it.

“Baby, you don’t have to. I just wanted to take care of you.”

He doesn’t realize how much I need this.

I don’t respond to him with words. Instead, I take him deep inside my mouth with a subtle tension and hum that radiates from my lips.

With one hand on his thigh to keep me steady, I wrap the other around the base of his cock and pump it in rhythm with my mouth. I can feel his fingers curling to my hair at the crown of my head. He’s finding his own anchor.

“Fuck,” he whispers under his breath and it only gives me more energy.

I suck his tip hard then release it with a pop before taking him in again, this time to the back of my throat. It makes my eyes water, but I couldn’t care less. I have tunnel vision and all I want is to make him come.

I swirl my tongue each time I retreat to the head before sinking back down. Over and over, we find our rhythm together until he starts to pump his hips.

“If you don’t want me to come in your mouth, you have to tell me now.”

I look up at him through water-covered lashes and smile. I want that.

As if he read my mind, he growls and his movements become sharper and more pronounced before finally he tenses and roars his release. I happily swallow it all, feeling like a goddamn queen, even knelt at his feet.

His shakes and shudders finally subside then he gently wraps his hands under my arms to help me to my feet. My hands slowly wrap around his back as his finger playfully traces across my lips. “Exquisite.” I softly smile looking deep into his eyes. “I need you to do something for me.”

I laugh. “I think I already did.”

His joyful chuckle vibrates off of every wall. “Yes, you did. However, tomorrow, when we land, instead of going straight to your father’s home, I’d like to take you somewhere, but you can’t ask any questions.”

I cock my head to the side. “Seriously?”

“Very. Promise me?”

“Your surprises can be on the scary side, but yes, I promise."

Griffin

Kaitlyn was true to her word. There were no questions when I had her clothing laid out after her morning shower. There were no questions when my car was waiting for us at the airport. There were no questions even when she saw we were on a very familiar drive.

“I’m very excited to finally see the house. I can’t believe we finally get to live there.”

“I made a few enhancements. I hope they’re to your liking.”

She reaches over for my hand. “I have no doubt they will be.”

We finish the drive in relative silence, finding comfort and solace simply being together, on the way to see our new home.

It’s when she sets eyes on the walkway at the end of the drive that she sits up straight and looks at me in surprise.

“Do you love me?” I ask her.

“Of course I do. You never have to ask.”

I put the car in park then kill the engine. “Then stay there. I’ll get your door.”

I expected to be nervous when this day finally came, but I’m more at peace than I’ve ever been. This is where my life was meant to take me. When I asked her before, I did mean it. I meant it then, but I mean it even more now because I know what life could look like without her. I never want to feel that again.

I open her door and offer my hand, which she takes happily. “What have you done?”

I don’t answer. I simply lead her toward the long, winding walkway that is now lined with flowers and small tealights.

“Griffin. Oh my God. Look at all of these roses.”

“Your father told me a story about you, your mother, and rose bushes. He said you helped her prune hers from the time you could safely hold a shears. I thought you might like a little of that memory every time you looked out the front window, or when the wind blew just right the scent would wander through the house like she was here.”

Kaitlyn bends to sniff one of the many variations of pink that now line the path toward our door. I notice a lone tear fall onto the petals. “It’s perfect. It couldn’t be more perfect.”

That’s when I lean in to whisper, “Look on the porch.”

I gloriously stand back and watch as her eyes go from what’s in front of her to the bigger picture. There are dozens of red roses in vases lining the staircase on both sides and across the front railing of the porch. The gas lanterns on either side of the modern farmhouse double doors perfectly accent the glow of the tealights.

She covers her mouth with both hands. “What the ... did you buy out an entire flower shop?”

“Two, in fact.” I guide her, with my hand at the small of her back, through the best smell in the world, other than her. “Watch your step on the petals.” I can feel a tremble radiating from her body. “Kaitlyn, stand right there. The light on your face is stunning.”

“What is all this?”

“This is about you. Somewhere deep inside me, I always knew I’d end up here. When I saw you, I knew you were beautiful. When you spoke, it was the best sound I’d ever heard, even when you were telling me off.” Kaitlyn giggles through a few tears. “When you agreed to help me, I saw your character. When we made love for the first time, and even before, I saw your heart. I knew I was absolutely done for.

“You are the last thing I want to see before I close my eyes and the first thing I want to see when I wake up each and every morning. I want to give you the world.” I finally pull the black velvet box from my jacket pocket that’s been burning a hole in the fabric for days and crack the lid. “Kaitlyn, will you do me the extraordinary honor of being my wife?”

I barely have the words off my tongue before she’s nodding and extending her hand to me. “Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes!”

I can’t wait any longer. I pull her down so she’s kneeling on the ground with me and I wrap her in my arms. “Thank you.”

“You’re thanking me for marrying you?” She pulls back and takes my face in her hands with tears in her eyes.

“I’m thanking you for making me the luckiest human on the planet,” I say, taking the emerald cut diamond from its velvet cushion and slipping it on her finger.

“You’ll have to be okay with that being a tie because I’m the luckiest human on the planet.”

“I can live with that.” We rise back to our feet and I unlock the door. Then, I quickly sweep her into my arms in a bridal carry. “Ready to see our new home?”

She wraps her arms around my neck. “I’ve never been more ready.”

Just like I promised her I would all those months ago, I carry her across the threshold and into our new life together.
