Charisma #2
A sound that didn’t belong in the calm of the morning forced my eyes open and I immediately frowned.
“Nate, what is this?” He was dangling a set of car keys over my head and I had no idea what they were for.
“This is me rewarding you for finally understanding what you should’ve known all this time.” That laid back, unbothered look was on his face as he lounged against the pillows. He had the nerve to look ready to go back to sleep and I needed more of an explanation than what he was currently giving.
“I’ve basically said I was yours. I told you I love you. You thought you were going to get rid of my ass that fast?”
“I’d planned to lock you in on the property if you tried to leave me. Have the men sit guard on shifts so that you couldn’t try that shit.” His eyes had closed and I had to laugh because I knew he was serious.
“False imprisonment? That’s new even for you.”
He peeked one eye open and smiled. “The long line of felonies that you’ve seen me commit—”
“I haven’t seen you commit anything, Nate.”
“And that’s why I’m about to put a fat ass ring on your finger and give you my last name.” His hand was on my hip rubbing it like I was his security blanket.
“What if I like my last name, Nate?” I didn’t care about keeping my last name but I had to tease him. Wanted to ensure he wasn’t teasing or saying this because of a post fuck high. It was mainly fear on my part because Nate said nothing he didn’t mean. Especially with me.
“You trying to be all new age or something like that? You can hyphenate that shit or sumn but Charisma Reed Chisholm-Love is a long ass name. But if that’s what you want to do, I’m cool.”
I angled my head to his because his tone had gotten softer. “Are you really talking to me about marriage?”
“Charisma, this ‘bout the second time you’ve had me questioning your intelligence. At least try to put up a good front until you got the ring secured, baby.” He gave me that advice so flatly it made me laugh even harder.
“I’m not dumb, I would never want to assume that we were going to be that serious just because.”
“Why wouldn’t you?”
“Nate—”
He sat up and rolled me over onto my back as he hovered over me. “I’m more than willing to put a man in the dirt behind you. If that doesn’t say you’re my forever I don’t know what does.”
“Again, I have no idea what you’re talking about. None of that is my business, Nathaniel.” Because I wasn’t about to ask questions.
“Remember that in case you have any news from back home that distresses you.”
He was wearing his I’m in trouble but did it all for love grin on his face and it got my senses tingling again.
“Distresses me? Like what, Nate?”
“You was just over here hollering about not wanting to know and now you’re all up in my shit? How that happen, Charmy?” He planted kisses all over my face trying to distract me but my mind was already churning.
“You have anything to do with Greg’s ass calling me?”
“How would I be able to do that, Charisma? You never told me about that nigga.”
“If I would’ve thought finding out a name would be impossible for you to achieve I wouldn’t be with you.”
He took my words as a compliment and grinned. “You trying to get this dick again, ain’t it? I knew you were a freaky ass fairy. I’m still leaking out of you and you want seconds.”
His words had my walls clenching again but I refused to admit he had me squirming. “Can we just go back to sleep? It’s too damn early for all this.”
“Nah, you gotta go see your gift.” He held up the keys again and gave them a shake.
“Where is this gift, Nathaniel?”
“It’s outside. Ain’t nobody else here, throw on my t-shirt and go see that shit.”
“Are you coming?”
“Yeah, I plan on cumming again as soon as you see what it is.” He winked and sat up his motion forcing me to do the same.
I hopped up and snatched the keychain before I looked around for something to put on.
A sky-blue robe landed on my hand before Nate instructed me to put it on.
I did what he said and he trailed behind me, giving directions about where I needed to go in order to see this surprise.
We walked through the house, and Nate directed me toward the kitchen. With the number of keys on the ring, I was sure they were for the house. But he opened up the garage located directly off the kitchen and I was stopped in my tracks.
“You got a new truck! Does that mean I can drive your old one?” I was jumping up and down on the balls of my feet thinking of the canvases I could haul in his truck without having to inconvenience him.
“Hell nah you can’t drive my truck. I got you your own.”
I stopped jumping and turned to him because he couldn’t be serious. “You got me a car?!”
“No, I got you a truck, Charmy, pay attention.” He was leaning against the wall trying to look irritated but I could tell he was fighting his smile.
“It’s mine.”
“Hell yeah. You were supposed to have it a minute ago but that custom paint took longer than I expected.” He leaned to flip on a light to the garage and instead of his truck being there it was a beautiful indigo blue pickup with matching rims.
“It’s so beautiful.”
“Go check out the tag.” He was grinning too damn hard which meant he was up to something.
My stomached dropped thinking this man had probably put some type of acronym on the back that said IGTTBMPISG (First person to guess this wins a prize!).
How the hell would I explain that to his mama or mine when they asked what it meant?
I slipped my feet into the slippers by the door and then walked down the few steps to get to the truck.
I ran my hand over the custom paint that had an iridescent purple shift even in the lights of the garage so I knew this shit sparkled in the daylight.
My heart damn near melted when I saw what was actually on the tags: BCKYSBNNY.
My heart did that thing that Nate always made it do. Where it beat uncontrollably and had me feeling as though I could conquer the world.
I turned and walked back toward him. “I need to show you something.”
He stood up straight and I knew my reaction wasn’t what he expected at all. “What you mean? You don’t like the truck?”
