Chapter Thirty-Four
DAISY
Two weeks had passed since Daddy and Daisy had gotten together. Daisy was either at his house with him or he came over to hers, but they were rarely apart from each other. To the point where Daddy now wanted her to go to work with him and work from BTS.
“Daddy,” Daisy whined.
“Yes, Little Flower?” He turned to her. “What’s wrong?”
“I really don’t think I need to go to the club with you,” she pointed out. “I’m okay doing work here. If I go with you, you are going to be really distracted.”
“I will be more distracted if you aren’t there with me. My mind is always on you when you aren’t with me,” he explained. “Why don’t you come just this once? If you really don’t like it, you don’t have to come again.”
“Where am I even going to work?” she asked.
“I had a little desk brought into my office so you could work there. I want you to be comfortable and have your own little spot. So, what do you say?”
“Just this once to see what it feels like, and then we’ll decide after,” she agreed.
But somehow Daisy felt like, even if she said she didn’t want to go back, he would find some way to get her there.
Daddy was true to his word about having a desk in his office just for her. It was in the corner, and he had moved several things so she could put whatever she needed out.
“You really didn’t have to go through this much trouble,” she told Daddy for the second time.
“I want you to be comfortable,” he replied. “If you need a drink, I have a mini-fridge over there filled with drinks. If you need a snackie, let me know, and I’ll go get it for you in the kitchen.”
“Daddy, what if you are really busy and can’t go?” she asked.
“Then I’ll get Trent to bring it up for you,” he said.
“Daddy.” She placed her hands on her hips. “You can’t have him deliver it to me. I can go down there and grab it myself.”
“I don’t want you to get lost.”
“Daddy, I’m not going to get lost. I promise. And if I did, there are people who would know who I belong to and bring me back,” Daisy pointed out.
Daddy growled and pulled her closer to him. “I like the sound of that.”
“What?” Her eyebrows bunched together.
“I like it when you said people know who you belong to. You belong to me. I belong to you,” he said.
“Caveman.” She playfully slapped his chest. “What am I going to do with you?”
“Keep me. Love me. Stay with me for the rest of your life and get spoiled.”
She sighed. “It’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.”
“Brat.”
Daisy smiled at Daddy, feeling the happiest she’d ever felt in her life. What did she do to deserve this?
“Asher, when are you leaving for Virginia?” Oliver asked as he walked into the office.
“Leaving?” Daisy looked at Daddy. “You’re leaving?”
She pulled out of his arms and took several steps back, wrapping her own arms around herself. How could she be so foolish as to think that Daddy was going to stay with her?
Everything had been doing so well… too well. She had been waiting for the other shoe to drop since they started this dynamic. She had gotten completely too comfortable with how he was treating her that she had forgotten about all the worries and troubles in her life.
“Shit,” Oliver said as he looked in Daisy’s direction.
Daddy’s leaving me.
That was the only thing running through her mind as she looked between Oliver and Daddy. How could she have been so foolish to think that he would never leave her?
“Daisy, it’s not what you think,” Daddy gently said as he rose from his seat.
He had just used her full name. How had she missed all the signs that he was going to leave? Had there been other ones?
“Little Flower, I want you to listen to me while I explain this. It’s not what you think. I’m not leaving you for good.” Daddy slowly walked toward her.
Daisy shook her head. How was she supposed to listen when he had been keeping something from her? He had told her that there should be no secrets between them, and yet he hadn’t told her that he was leaving. For how long?
“I’ll come back later,” Oliver said and disappeared through the door.
She stood and walked over toward the door, leaving all her work stuff on the desk. She needed to get away. She needed to clear her mind of everything and think about the bombshell Oliver had just dropped.
Daddy was going to Virginia, and she didn’t know for how long or if he was even coming back. He hadn’t told her anything.
“Little Daisy, I want you to listen.” Daddy reached her before she could even open the door.
“I don’t want to listen to you right now. I don’t want to listen to anything you have to say when you’ve been keeping something like this from me,” she whispered.
“Little Flower, I was going to tell you today when everything was final. I didn’t want to make you worried if I brought it up before,” Daddy tried to explain.
Daisy whirled around and glared at him, poking his chest with her finger. “You knew things about me. That I don’t like it when people leave my life unexpectedly. You knew, and yet you were keeping this from me.”
“Little Flower.”
She poked his chest again, tears now dripping down her face as she glared at him.
“You knew I was getting more comfortable in this town. You knew I was considering staying because of all the friends and because of you. You were one of the major reasons for me staying. I was considering never looking at another place because I had you. I never thought you were going to leave me.”
And yet, here he was, leaving her to go to Virginia.
Daddy wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly as she tried to wriggle free. He was not letting her go, even though she desperately wanted it.
“Remember what Daddy said, communication is important,” he gently said.
“You say communication is important, and yet you didn’t tell me about this. How am I supposed to trust you when you won’t even tell me a simple thing like this?” she wailed as she thrashed in his arms.
Daddy sat down on the couch, plopping her on his lap as he held her close.
“I know I shouldn’t have kept it from you.
I didn’t want to tell you before we even had a date for when I could possibly be leaving and returning.
I didn’t want you to worry too much about whether I’m still going to be here.
I wanted to save you from all of that, but I made a huge mistake.
wish I could go back and do it all over again.
I will tell you right away what they want me to do, what I need to do for my work. ”
“You should have,” she cried. “You should have told me what was going on.”
“I should have, and I hope now that I won’t have to do it again,” he gently said.
“I’m only going to be gone for a week max.
I don’t want to leave you. I still don’t want to leave you, but we are expanding the club into Virginia.
Since I oversee that side of the business, I need to be the one to go first. After this, I should be able to send somebody else that I trust.”
“Just a week?” She turned her head to look at him.
“Yes, Little Flower. It should be just a week, maybe less. Two days for traveling, and then a couple of days to look around the club, look over any documents they have, and answer all the questions,” Daddy explained.
“I wish I could take you with me, but I know that you have work to do. And it won’t be fun for you while we’re there. I’m just going to work, that’s it.”
She sighed and leaned back into him.
“I’m sorry for not trying to hear you out straight away.
I let my emotions and my mind get the best of me when I shouldn’t have,” she whispered.
“I was just so hurt because I thought you were the one for me. I was worried you were leaving without telling me and were going to break off everything we had built.”
Daddy moved her body so she was facing him and cupped her face. “Never. I am never going to break things off with you. What we have is special. It’s something I want for the rest of my life with you, only you.”
“What did I do to deserve you?” she muttered.
“You didn’t have to do anything to deserve me. It should be me asking that because you are precious to me. I should not have you in my life, and yet here you are with me,” Daddy gently said.
“I think both of us must have done something in our past lives to deserve each other,” she responded.
“Or maybe whoever is watching over us saw that you’ve had a hard life and desperately needed someone to take care of you.
Someone who will love you unconditionally for the rest of your life.
They saw me, a man who has been alone his whole life, wanting a special someone to magically appear in front of them, and that is what you did.
You appeared in front of me when I was least expecting it, when I thought that I was going to spend the rest of my life alone and was slowly coming to terms with it. ” Daddy kissed the tip of her nose.
She giggled and looked at him lovingly before sobering up.
“When are you leaving?” Daisy asked.
“I just got all the information. I wanted to talk to you first before I decide when I will go down,” Daddy said.
“But I was thinking I could go down on Sunday afternoon, so that I’m there when everybody’s working and can hopefully leave by Friday to come back.
Is that okay, or do you need me right now? ”
Everything in Daisy wanted to say that she needed him desperately, but she didn’t. Daddy had a job to do, and she knew that she couldn’t get in the way of it. Daddy would definitely not go if she said she needed him, but she didn’t want to feel guilty about keeping him back.
“That sounds like a good plan. That way, you’re here on the weekend, and I won’t be by myself. During the week, I can work and keep myself distracted,” she replied.
“While I’m gone, I want you to come into my office and work here so somebody can keep an eye on you. Make sure that you’re eating and drinking enough water, and everything,” Daddy explained.
She glared at him. “Daddy, I don’t need to come into the office so somebody can look after me.
I have been taking care of myself for years.
You being gone for a week won’t affect me much.
Okay, that’s a lie. It’s going to affect me a lot, but I can take care of myself for a week. You don’t have to worry.”
“There’s no way I’m not going to worry. You are too precious to me. Just being away from you for a couple of minutes, I’m worried if you’re taking care of yourself,” Daddy said.
“I’m still not going into the office. There’s no way for me to get there safely since you don’t like me driving anymore, which I still find unreasonable.
My driving is perfectly fine. I can work from home.
If you want somebody to come check on me, then that’s perfectly fine, but I’m not coming in.
Not when I don’t really know anybody. I’m going to be worried, and I won’t actually get any work done. ” She tried to reason with him.
“I like that. If you won’t come in, then somebody comes and checks in on you, or you reply to me or anybody else that messages you right away. I don’t want something bad to happen,” Daddy gently said as he ran his knuckle across her cheek.
“Nothing like that is going to happen. I took care of myself really well before I met you.”
Okay, that was very debatable. She sometimes forgot to take care of herself.
She always forgot to eat breakfast because she was too lazy and didn’t want to make anything.
If she forgot groceries, she would go without lunch as well.
Dinner was always simple because, by the end of the day, she was exhausted.
So maybe that wasn’t the right thing to say, but she needed Daddy to trust that she could take care of herself. Even if it wasn’t the truth.
“I’ll cook some meals before I leave and put them in the fridge, so you have food, but I will also have people checking in on you. I will not hear any arguments on it, since I want you to be safe, and it will give me peace of mind if they come and check on you every once in a while,” Daddy said.
“As long as it’s not them coming every hour to check in on me, I don’t need somebody to make sure that every hour I’m doing okay. Maybe once in the afternoon is perfectly fine,” She suggested.
“Once in the morning, and once in the afternoon.” He raised an eyebrow.
She sighed and nodded. She was worried if she put up too much of a fight, Daddy was going to make it three times a day, and she didn’t need that. There would be no way she would get work done if a ton of people were checking on her.
“Good, I will talk to some of the other Daddies,” Daddy announced.
“Not the other Littles?” she asked.
“If you would rather them than the Daddies, I can do that, but I figured you would probably want the Daddies to come and check on you. They’ll just make sure that you’re okay and leave so that you can get back to work,” Daddy explained.
Daisy thought about it for several seconds. “Maybe one of the Littles can come with their Daddy in the afternoon when I’m done with work?”
Daddy smiled. “Perfect. I’ll organize that.”
