Chapter 11

Chapter Eleven

Nova was still shaken by the time they reached the Daddy Guard’s compound.

“If you wouldn’t have been there,” she said as they got out of the van. “I would have just opened that wardrobe and that guy could have done... anything… to me!”

Unable to contain herself, she began sobbing, her shoulders shaking harshly before it spread and her entire body quaked.

Xavier had his arms around her in a matter of seconds, standing in the garage bay, holding her tightly. She could feel his shirt growing damp as her tears soaked it.

“It’s okay,” he told her. “You’re safe now.”

Now she was. But what if they never figured out who was behind all this? What if she had to live in fear the rest of her life? It wasn’t as if she could keep Xavier around forever—though that would have been wonderful. Just being in his arms right now already had her raging terror soothed.

She knew Xavier could sense the fear she was battling because he said, “Would going to Little Space help you?”

The question didn’t surprise her at first. It just felt normal.

But then she remembered that she hadn’t really discussed her Little nature with him or anyone else.

It stood to reason he assumed he knew a thing or two about her since she’d called the Daddy Guard for help.

Still, it felt so odd to open up that way.

If she was going to open up to anyone, though, it was going to be Xavier. The connection she felt with him was too powerful to resist.

Pulling away from him enough to look up into his eyes, she said, “I’d really like that. But it’s going to be hard.”

His smile was warm and understanding shaded his eyes. “Because of your public status, you don’t go to Little Space much, do you? Always people around. The risk of getting caught and outed is high.”

It didn’t surprise her that he understood perfectly.

“Yeah. I look around on Internet forums. That’s how I found out about the Daddy Guard.

I can’t actually hang out with anyone in person, though.

So, I’ve just chatted and made a few online friends who are oblivious to my real identity. I feel bad lying to them.”

He shook his head slightly. “You’re not lying to them. Just not telling them everything. One has to be careful online. No matter who they are. You don’t have to worry here. I mean, the girls will get you in trouble, maybe, but…” He finished the implication with a shrug and smirk.

Nova giggled. “Some trouble sounds fun! It would take my mind off all that’s going on. I need to be ready for the show though, here in a few hours.”

“But, like you said—you have a few hours,” Xavier stated.

Little Space was starting to sound better and better. She knew she couldn’t overthink it, though. It would be easy to lose her nerve here.

Come on, Nova. Live a little. You don’t have to work all the time.

With another little giggle, she nodded. “Okay. Where do I start?”

“Has anyone shown you the Littles’ dressing room?”

“Nope.”

“Then allow me.” Xavier held out his arm and she took it, loving the feeling of him escorting her deeper into the giant warehouse-type structure.

This is strange, she thought. She’d played giant arenas and stadiums. Traveled the world and won Grammys. Yet the most exciting thing she’d ever done might be walking through a repurposed industrial building on my way to put on Little clothes.

And it all had to do with the man she was holding onto.

Xavier Williams.
