Chapter 19
What was LittleLand?
And who exactly was Bonnie?
Addie didn’t know the answer to either question. And she couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous.
Apparently, Bonnie was Number One in their life. They said she was a job, but it sounded like more than that. Were they involved with her? Both of them?
Addie might be an introvert. She might have social challenges, but that didn’t mean she didn’t know what went on in the world.
She watched plenty of TV, she liked to read books, and she kept up with the news. So she knew there were people out there living poly lifestyles.
It was kind of intriguing, not that it would be something she would want. She couldn’t handle one man, let alone two.
Cash pulled up outside a nondescript large building. It was almost like a warehouse with windows that were high up, so she couldn’t see in.
They didn’t go to what she assumed was the front entrance. Instead, they went around the back and Cash input a code into the keypad next to the steel door. They didn’t immediately go into the building. Instead, they entered a small mudroom-like area where they took off their jackets.
She was so glad she had clean clothes. Even the guys had gotten clean clothes from somewhere. Sable had taken their old clothes to get laundered.
The outfit was something she’d have chosen. A pair of black tights, a faux leather skirt, and an oversized white sweater.
Cash took hold of her hand as Ralen led them to another door which required him to put his thumbprint into a scanner, before the door would open. All right, she was starting to see what they meant by security.
They walked straight into a large lounge-like area with a really gorgeous pink velvet sofa and two bright pink velvet armchairs in front of the TV mounted on the wall. The pink theme continued with a light pink kitchen with a white counter and gold handles.
Two ornate chandeliers hung over the island, in front of whic were three white leather bar stools with gold legs.
It should’ve been too much, but instead it was just amazing.
“Bonnie,” Ralen called out. “We’re here.” He and Cash looked almost ridiculous in this room.
And then in walked the woman who belonged to this room.
She had pale blonde hair with streaks of pink and blue.
It was pulled back into two pigtails. And she wore a pink tutu dress with ruffles at the bottom.
Her tights were pink and blue striped. On her feet were big boots with these thick heels.
The boots themselves were pink, but the heels were a pale white.
She wore bright pink lipstick and was totally adorable. Even with her thick-heeled boots on, she seemed to be tiny. Even shorter than Addie.
“Oh, hello, who are you?” Bonnie asked, giving her a friendly smile.
Bonnie wasn’t at all what she’d expected, and she found herself smiling back. It would be hard not to smile at Bonnie. She was like a bright candy rainbow.
“This is Addie,” Cash said. “Sorry, we had to bring her with us.”
Oh, great. Now she was something he had to apologize for. She was starting to think that coming here was a bad idea, and she still didn’t have the things she needed for her period.
“Don’t be sorry. Is she your girlfriend?” Bonnie asked. “I didn’t know you guys were seeing anyone. And you’re seeing her together? That’s so awesome.”
Before any of them could correct Bonnie, a huge man stepped into the room behind her.
Okay. Other than the man with the body last night, this had to be the most terrifying man she’d ever seen in her life. He was absolutely enormous with a stern face. Like Cash and Ralen, he was heavily tattooed. But, for some reason, she found him more intimidating.
Addie gulped as she took him in. There was no welcoming smile on his face. In fact, his frown seemed to grow bigger as he stared at her. “Who’s she?”
“This is Cash and Ralen’s girlfriend. I told you they were going to share a girl. It’s almost like having twins with the two of them, right?” Bonnie said to her.
Addie found herself unable to speak. She wanted to tell Bonnie the truth. She seemed like the sort of person you could talk to about anything, but the words wouldn’t come, not with the big guy glaring at her over Bonnie’s shoulder.
“Titus, stop glaring at Addie,” Cash said to Titus. “She hasn’t done anything wrong. Although she’s not actually our girlfriend, Bonnie.”
“Oh, are you sure?”
“Kind of feel like we’d know if we had one, Bonnie,” Ralen told her with a grin as he walked over to the pale pink fridge and opened it. “What have you got to drink in here? I’m dying. Yes! A pink pick-me-up smoothie. Addie, you need to have one of these.”
He grabbed three small glass bottles with lids. Setting them on the island counter, he undid each of the lids, and then took some glasses out of a cupboard. He certainly seemed at home in Bonnie’s kitchen.
After pouring each bottle into a glass, he found a straw for one glass and gestured them over. Addie grasped hold of the glass he held out for her and took a sip through the straw.
Wow. She stared down at the drink in shock.
“Good, huh? It’s full of all sorts of good stuff too,” Ralen said.
“Of course it is,” Bonnie said. “I don’t mean to be rude, but you all look like you need a good night’s sleep.”
“We had an eventful night,” Cash told her. “We met Addie last night when she climbed into the back of my pickup after seeing a man carrying a dead body around and putting it in the trunk of his car.”
Bonnie gasped and placed her hand over her mouth. Then, to Addie’s surprise, she walked over and grasped hold of Addie’s free hand. “Oh, no. Are you all right, Addie?”
Wow.
Addie had never had a complete stranger look so concerned about her before.
Addie nodded.
“Why isn’t she talking?” Titus asked.
Bonnie gasped again and turned around towards Titus. “Titus, that’s rude. You can’t ask questions like that.”
“She has anxiety that makes it harder for her to talk, especially around people that she doesn’t know,” Cash said, glaring at Titus.
“So the three of you definitely aren’t dating,” Bonnie said.
“Definitely not,” Ralen told her. “Cash and I don’t share, we’re both too possessive.”
“Ha, interesting,” Bonnie said. “So, the two of you are just taking care of her? Do you live here, Addie?”
Addie shook her head. She really wished she could talk. She put the straw back into her mouth to cover up the fact that no words were coming. Maybe it might have been easier if Titus hadn’t been glaring at her like she was a piece of dog poop on his shoe.
He stayed close to Bonnie, watching her every move. She guessed he was some sort of bodyguard, but it almost seemed more than that.
“There’s kind of a bit more to it,” Cash said. He explained everything that had happened.
Another huge gasp came from Bonnie once he’d explained everything.
“Be careful. You’re going to give yourself a heart attack if you keep gasping like that,” Ralen said dryly.
“You can’t get a heart attack from gasping,” Bonnie said. “Can you?”
Cash shook his head. “We’re just looking after Addie until she and her sisters go back to Las Vegas.”
“Aw,” Bonnie said. “But we only just met. I have a feeling we could be good friends. Maybe we should exchange phone numbers.”
Addie just nodded. There was too much there for her to sift through right at the moment, but she would be so lucky to have a friend like Bonnie.
“We need to talk in private,” Titus suddenly said.
A worried look filled Bonnie’s face. “Right, yes, we do. Maybe we should go into my office, and we could leave Addie out here?”
“We thought Addie might like to wander around LittleLand,” Cash said
“Oh, yes. That’s way more fun than waiting in my boring living room.”
She considered this a boring living room? What on earth was LittleLand then?
