Nate

Liam will get us all caught or killed for a woman.

This asshole will get us arrested for a fucking woman!

I get the need to get your dick wet like the next guy, but Jesus, this is not the best way to go about it—especially when you are traveling through the country killing women.

Be serious, man. You are a damn serial killer who hunts women for entertainment who look exactly like your new girlfriend.

How about we don’t invite the damn cops to our doorstep?

I am losing my mind. These men will drive me to the psych ward one of these days. Fucking assholes.

My boyfriend included, because he is acting as if there’s nothing to worry about.

Of course there isn’t. We are just going to prison—either because his brother will make a mistake and tell his girlfriend about our hobby, or because they will figure out Mary is missing, which will lead them directly to our backyard.

And instead of leaving this dreadful town, what do we do?

We are staying here so Liam can fuck a woman in an alley.

He is usually the one thinking of the details to keep us from getting caught. This is so out of character for my friend. We had been at the house for two hours when he finally arrived, pretending that nothing out of the ordinary had happened in his day, like always.

He is now sitting on the living room floor, chatting with Mike about a TV show or something while petting his dog sleeping next to him.

I am really trying to ignore the situation, but I'm failing—because the situation isn’t something I can control, and I can’t ignore what I can’t control.

I sound like a fucking madman. Dammit. I am becoming my boyfriend, and no one likes to date himself.

This situation is the only thing on my mind right now.

We need to figure out a plan, but in the meantime, I have to get out of here before I try to murder Liam.

I am sure that will absolutely ruin my relationship, if the fact that I am acting like my boyfriend won’t ruin it first. He is either going to date himself or date the man who killed his only living family. Both options sound like a ‘no’.

“I am going for a drive,” I announce, grabbing my keys.

Both men nod and go back to their conversation, totally ignoring me.

I walk out of the living room and out the front door without looking back, avoiding the temptation of possible murder thoughts taking over and actually acting on impulse for once.

I bet Liam’s blood would look amazing on the living room carpet.

God, I am worse than Mike at this point.

I climb onto my bike and start driving, not looking back. I didn’t even bother grabbing my helmet. I allow the wind against my face to calm me down as I drive nowhere in particular, until I end up at the maze without realizing it.

I stand there looking at the bloody hay, at the exact spot where we usually park. I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and try to ground myself. As I do, I allow myself to get lost in my thoughts for a while.

Maybe everything is going to be okay.
