Chapter Four Zenovia
Today has been one of those days. I’ve been running around nonstop. Everyone wanted cupcakes or pastries or something for their meetings. I’m not complaining about it at all but I might have to consider hiring an assistant.
After Cassian left last night or rather this morning, I couldn’t stop smiling.
He is such a wonderful man. He is not only handsome with his blonde locks and beautiful forest green eyes.
Not to mention his scruff, making him look like the perfect book boyfriend.
He is definitely someone a lot of women would dream about.
I’ve never had this feeling before. I’ve never been able to be myself with anyone but Jordan and now Cassian as well. He listened to me talk about everything and anything. He never once told me to stop talking and he seemed truly interested in what I was telling him.
“What the hell? Did everyone wake up with a sweet tooth today?” Jordan dramatically falls onto the chair in front of the counter. She helped out after lunch because I had to bake a few more pastries.
“I love it when it’s this busy.” I wipe the counter with a smile. I know I spaced out a little. Who wouldn't, when all I can think of is Cassian and his gorgeous green eyes.
Jordan leans forward. “I lost you to the hotty English teacher, didn’t I?” She waves her finger at my face, and I still can’t wipe the smile off my face.
“He is charming, and I like him.” I bite my lip as I glance at the clock.
“He is the first guy I can’t wait to spend more time with. It scares and excites me at the same time.”
She claps her hands as she looks at me with a knowing smile.
“Don’t start…” I warn just as the door opens, and three teenage girls walk in with skirts shorter than the boyshorts I wear to bed.
Jordan almost chokes on air as she looks at them.
“This brings back memories.” Jordan snickers as she pushes away from the counter. The girls stop in front of the counter.
“What can I get you ladies?” They don’t look at me as they stare at the menu.
The one with the strawberry blonde hair flicks her hair over her shoulder as she speaks. “Three vanilla lattes and three chicken salads.” She taps three times on the counter.
“I’ll get right to it.” I turn around and Jordan handles their payment. I make the vanilla lattes and grab some freshly made chicken salads before I take them over to where they’re sitting.
The door opens as I turn to head back to the counter, and I can’t stop my smile from widening. Cassian walks in looking as handsome as ever in his dark jeans and white t-shirt.
“Hey,” I say, walking over to him. He pulls me against him as he hugs me close.
“Hey, how’s your day been?” He kisses the top of my head, and all I want is for him to kiss me like he means it. I want to feel his lips on mine, but we aren’t even anything yet, and I won’t make the first move.
I wrap my arm around his waist as we walk towards the counter. “Busy, everyone needed something sweet.” Jordan nods at one of the tables, and I lead Cassian towards the table. “How was your first day?”
“Wonderful, I have a great group of kids. Each grade is different, and they loved the cookies.” The three teenage girls giggle, and he looks over his shoulder at them. They all wave at him, and he nods at them before turning back towards me. “Some of the kids in my class.”
I can’t say anything. I’m not one to judge a book by its cover. I don’t know them and only saw what they did when they came in here.
“I want to take you out to dinner,” he states.
“Like a date?” I try not to get too excited about it.
“Yes, like a date. I want to date you.” He reaches over the table and takes my hand in his. “So what do you say?” I grin as I take in his thumb, rubbing soothing circles on the back of my hand.
“I would love to go on a date with you,” I answer, and he jumps up, throwing his hands in the air.
“She said yes!” he yells, and I laugh at his silliness.
The table of girls glares at us, but it’s more of a surprised glare than an angry glare.
“I’m taking you out on Saturday. I’ll pick you up at eight a.m.” I’m sure he can see my face fall.
I was hoping I would still see him more this week.
“I’ll still see you daily, but our date will be Saturday.”
He gets up before he pulls me up and hugs me.
I have a date with a handsome teacher, and I can’t wait.
