Chapter 27 Calliope

I was feeling restless without Ayden in the house. It wasn’t that anything was wrong. Well, other than my alpha being gone. The last two days I had awoken reaching for him. This was the worst timing that I could imagine. I needed him and he was nowhere to be found. It wasn’t my fault he left before I could spend any time with him. All I wanted was to nest and cuddle with my alpha. I felt the need to be with him so badly, I was crawling out of my skin from the lack of his presence. Dax was trying, bless him. He was hard in all the places Ayden was soft. I knew with time we would find our own space. But he wasn’t the alpha I wanted.

“What exactly are you planning on doing with that?”

Dax indicated the stack of books I was in the process of moving across the room. “I’m rearranging them.”

“Again?” My thoughts were moving a mile a minute and I needed to do something, anything to redirect myself. Redoing my bookshelves seemed like the best idea.

Trope.I was planning on doing it by trope. Setting the books on the bed, I moved across to my dark romance shelf, I’d start there. I started to pull books in a seemingly random order. A growing stack of stalker romances took up space in my arms. When I had all I could carry, I turned and Dax was standing there, arms out. “Let me help.”

Handing them off, I turned and gathered another armful. We moved back and forth seamlessly for over an hour before he made me stop and sit, making some excuse to get me a drink and snack. We sat in silence for a minute before I asked, “So, what made you start killing?”

He nearly choked on his drink. “I suppose you expect some tragic childhood story or something. But in truth I don’t know. Something just went wrong in my brain. I get set off and I kill. Sometimes whole packs, other times male betas and basically any omegas.”

“No one is safe from you, are they?”

“Before recent events, I would have said no.”

“Before?” I hated to even imagine that I meant anything to this man.

“Yes, before I discovered an adorable little omega that makes me want to do anything to protect her.” I blushed when he said that. “And the beta I can’t get out of my mind. Their alpha is a little annoying, but I can deal with him.” He winked at me.

“You really expect me to believe that only me and my pack are safe from your rage?”

His face turned deadly serious when he spoke again. “I don’t expect you to believe that. It isn’t the truth anyway.”

“What is the truth then?”

“You and your pack hold my leash.” There was an undercurrent of violence in his that made me wet. “It’s not that any of you are safe. I’m not na?ve enough to believe anyone is safe from me. No, instead I know that you and Cain will be able to keep my attention for a long time to come. And I am certain, should I become a threat to you, Ayden wouldn’t hesitate to put a bullet in my head.”

“That sure as shit sounded like a threat to me.”

He crossed the room, pinning me against the wall. “The only time I’m a threat to you, sweet omega, is if you ever leave me. If that happens, you might as well put a bullet right through my skull yourself. I will not live without you, so everyone needs to get really comfortable with me being around.”

He spun and stormed out of the nest. I could hear him stomping down the stairs. I couldn’t take these alphas and their shit anymore. I cleared the bed enough so I could lay down. Reaching up, I grabbed the pillow that smelled like Ayden. Wrapping myself around it, I cried myself to sleep.

I was awoken sometime later by someone crawling into bed with me. “Go away.”

“Is that how you talk to your alpha?”

My eyes flew open, and I rolled over, I stared up at my handsome alpha and I didn’t fight the whine. “You left me.”

“I know.”

“You promised you wouldn’t do that.”

Tears welled up in my eyes as I started to pull away from him. He reached out and pulled me tight against his chest. “I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” His head was already moving down as a purr built in his chest. The roughness of his stubble felt so good against my cheek as he rubbed against me. “I love you, little Omega.”

My neck arched when he said that he took the opening, leaning in and lapping along his mark. I was soaked for him just from that one motion. The feeling made me moan. “Please.”

He pulled back speaking before I could start begging. “How about I make it up to you.”

“How would you do that?”

“You’re in charge.”

“Then shut up and eat that pussy like a good alpha.” It sounded strange but I kind of liked it.

He kissed his way down my body, stopping at my breasts momentarily. His tongue lashed out as he lapped at one of my nipples. That tongue followed the swell of my chest so he could lap at the other. Each movement of his tongue drug another moan from my lips. I was soaked for him as his hand snaked between us. Finding my clit with his fingers, he teased me until I wrapped my arms around him. I couldn’t stop myself from running my nails down his back, making him push that rock hard cock against me. My hand fisted in his hair, pushing him down until that tongue was teasing me. It lashed out, making me moan and push against him. My hips bucked so I could ride the sensation of his tongue on me. He pulled on my hold on his hair, I allowed him the space as he lined himself up. His tongue darted inside me, making me shiver for him. My arm flexed and I pushed him against me until his nose was teasing my clit.

“Fuck yeah, right there.” I couldn’t stop the moan of pleasure. With every movement of his tongue, he drove me closer to the edge. My hips were moving as he slid two fingers inside me. He curved them, driving into that spot. I rode the sensation, bucking my hips until my eyes rolled into the back of my head. My legs wrapped around his head, ankles locking as he drove me over that edge, again and again until I collapsed.

He crawled back up my body, putting his body weight on top of me. My pussy clenched at the thought of him inside me. I needed more. His head was down by my ear when the rumble of his voice started. “Am I forgiven, sweet little Omega?”

“Make him earn it.” Cain’s voice broke the spell.

Our heads turned as one taking in our beta where he stood in the doorway. “Join us,” Ayden all but barked at him.

“Love to, but I can’t.” He moved to the bookshelves searching for something before turning to where I lay. “What’s the new system?”

“What are you looking for? Maybe I can help you.”

“My favorite.” He turned back to the shelves.

“Serial killers, second shelf from the top.”

He scanned through the shelves, finding the book and leaving the room with a, “Love you two. Have fun.”

“Tomorrow,” Ayden promised. Cain closed the door, and he turned that predatory gaze on me. “Now, where were we?”
