Chapter 49 Dax

Standing and tugging my pants back in place, I offered my hand to Calliope. I pulled her into a hug, my eyes finding Cain’s as he came into the house. I hadn’t even noticed him leave, but then I was wrapped up in our omega at the time. “Go to our beta, love, he’s got some clothes for you.” I pressed a kiss to her forehead before releasing her and turning back to my captives.

“You two are really fucking sick,” Jeremy snarled.

I moved close to him, getting in his face without hesitation. “I was born this way. Calliope is a monster of your own making.”

I pushed past him, grabbing my blade from where it had fallen. Going to the last pack member, I grabbed him by the hair and opened his throat. I was ready to be done here. Calliope smiled as she moved towards Jeremy. I slid behind the omega, my arm wrapping around his neck. Pressing the blade to that vulnerable flesh, I watched as my omega approached Jeremy.

I could see the glint of metal, not quite able to make out what it was. Her arm moving, she pressed a gun against the alpha’s head. “This isn’t how I normally do things, but I just want this over.”

“Like I give a fuck,” Jeremy snapped.

“You made me this way.”

Jeremy’s growl made me tense. “You should have never made it out of that house alive. I told the useless asshole to finish you off.”

“No one is going to get a second chance.” The echoing bang of the gun firing was all I needed to hear.

The blade slid across the omega’s throat, silencing his screams. I moved quickly, lifting Calliope as I passed her. Cain and Ayden ran with me out of the house. Cain had the door to the back seat of the SUV open so I could climb inside. Ayden had the SUV in gear as Cain climbed into the passenger seat.

Ayden peeled out of the driveway, sliding through the gates as they closed. He sped through the streets, jumping on the highway as soon as he could. Blue lights lit up behind us as we accelerated. Ayden hesitated before Cain snapped, “Keep driving.” Cain was on his phone typing something out.

The lights disappeared as quickly as they came and Ayden floored it, aiming for an exit ramp. We flew down the ramp and onto a side road. The car leaned to the side as he took a turn too fast before it finally settled sending us flying down the road. He took a quick left turn, gravel flying as he pulled into a small airport. There was a hangar at the end he aimed for. Pulling into the large space, he threw the SUV into park beside a private jet.

I was out of the car and climbing the ramp as soon as I was able. Calliope wrapped around me; she had been quiet the whole drive. Too quiet. The pilot said something to me, but I ignored it, tuning him out as I took a seat. Calliope stayed where she was as Cain and Ayden boarded. Nothing was said as the plane started to taxi. We were in the air, and it wasn’t a moment too soon. Calliope relaxed before climbing off my lap and going to Ayden.

“What are we doing next?” Cain asked all of us.

“We should write a blog,” Ayden joked.

Calliope turned her head, a smile plastered across her face. “I love that idea.”
