Chapter 14
"Where are all these questions coming from?"
"I was adopted by Sheng Tianyun. He treated the loss of his legs as the greatest shame of his life. I didn't expect it was you who did it."
"Also, can't you even tell the difference between deliberately approaching someone and genuinely showing goodwill?"
Sa'er stayed quiet for a moment, then pressed his lips together. "Are you telling the truth?"
"Can you tell me what happened earlier now? Did you release the monsters in the supervision area?"
"No."
I pulled out the medical kit, turned the lights back on, and began applying medicine to the graze on his neck from the bullet.
"It was those researchers."
He meant the fake guards.
"They couldn't take me away, so they injected the frenzy agent into the monsters. The symptoms spread rapidly among them, and the Monster Supervision Office fell into chaos."
"Good. Noted."
Sa'er tilted his head up to look at me. "I've killed a lot of people."
"I saw. They weren't mine."
"Will you think I'm terrifying?"
"No."
Sa'er dodged the hand I was using to apply medicine. "Are you this nice to everyone?"
"So nice that even after I killed you twice, you still won't take revenge on me?"
I let out a short laugh.
"Are you calling me a saint?"
"No. Not at all."
I pinched Sa'er's turned-away face and forced him to look at me. "I'm not a saint to everyone."
His gaze flickered. His voice became very small.
"You chose me first."
"Hm?"
A soft smack sounded.
Sa'er quickly kissed my cheek, his face flushing all the way to his neck. "If you treat anyone else well again, I'll kill you."
I smiled and pinched his face between two fingers. "Who are you talking to?"
He gently bit the space between my thumb and index finger, then extended his tongue and obediently licked it once.
He looked at me with that mix of obedience and mischief, like he was trying to be good but couldn't help himself.
