Brielle
I almost don’t recognize my reflection in the full-length mirror in the corner of our room. The subtle glow of my skin, the same golden glow in my eyes. It’s strange to see myself change this drastically in a month. When I was withering away, I tried not to look at myself at all.
When Lilith removed my hexed necklace concealing my powers, I didn’t have them long before they were drained and never returned. Even in those moments, my powers felt right. It was similar to how I have always felt but stronger.
I haven’t sensed an ounce of my powers in months. It’s a foreign notion now.
My marked fingers begin to tingle, I raise them in front of me and the tips of them start to glow.
“You’re up.” My eyes shine brighter when they meet Azra’s reflection behind me. He subtly searches over my body as if I wouldn’t notice he is making sure I’m okay. “You’ll get used to it again, angel.”
“I never realized how different I always felt, even with the hexed necklace.” His warmth consumes me, his chest brushing my hair from how close he is. Something hard in his pants pressed on my lower back.
We smirk at the same time when we realize what that something is.
“How can I resist?” Azra leans down and whispers in my ear, his fingers ever so gently grazing my neck. Lowering to my chest, then between my breasts until I watch through the mirror as his hand flattens on my stomach. He pushes my hips back until my ass is pressed against him and his other hand wraps in the hair at the base of my head.
“ Azra, ” His name comes as a sigh while his hand slides from my stomach into the front of my leggings. His finger runs along my slit and I nearly collapse into him.
“Open your eyes, angel. I want you to see the things I’m doing to you.” Azra tightens his grip on my hair until my eyes open. I hadn’t realized I had shut them from the jolt of electricity running through my body.
He has made my body experience things I have never encountered with anyone else, but this is a whole new level of arousal.
“I can feel your power pulsing in your wet pussy, baby,” he whispers again. Goosebumps ripple across my skin as he kisses the shell of my ear, his beard tickling it with every brush.
His hand leaves my hair and pulls down my V-neck shirt and bra until my nipple is exposed. I watch as he rolls it between his fingers and my head falls back into his chest. His eyes never leave my half-lidded gaze.
“Why does everything feel so—” A moan interrupts my sentence from him sinking his finger into me. “So good ,” I force myself to finish the words.
“This is how it’s going to be, forever.” His smile nearly makes me orgasm from the beauty of it. I realize at this moment that it’s been quite some time since I’ve seen that smile. His features were always taken over with worry with the recent events.
Azra lazily circles my clit and then slips his finger back into me until I’m watching myself writhe in his grip in front of this mirror. I try to turn but he only holds me tighter, a squeal escapes from him pinching my nipple.
Trying harder, I actually break free of his hold. The surprise on his face causes me to smirk. I can definitely get used to overpowering him.
I push him toward the bed and he shockingly stumbles back a bit. Looking down at my hands, they are glowing again.
“Oh, this is going to be fun.” Azra smiles, playfully dragging out his last word. My face lights up with amusement as I rush and crash into him. His back slams against the dresser, the wood cracking as we frantically kiss. His tongue circles mine as he grabs my thighs and picks me up.
I wrap my legs around him and run my hands through his hair. He walks over a few steps and twists me until my back rams into the wall. I don’t let the cracking behind me stop us.
Pulling away, I grab the collar of his shirt and rip it down the middle. Buttons rattle against the wooden floors as he turns me from the wall and walks toward the bed.
Landing on the bed where he threw me, he kneels before me ripping my shirt off and then my leggings until I am only in my lace bra and underwear.
“You’re glowing, baby.” He smiles as his eyes devour my body.
“Shut up and fuck me.” I lean forward undoing his belt and ripping his pants off him. It was as easy as ripping a piece of paper in half.
My cheeks hurt from the smile on my face.
His dick springs free, a small bead of cum at the tip. Peering up at him through my brows, I stick my tongue out and lick it off. I watch as his face contorts with pleasure as I pull away.
“You are such a wicked little thing.” His tone is rugged as he leans down claiming my mouth again. Azra slips his hand between us and slips them into me once more, only this time I feel a slight shock when he reaches his knuckles.
“What was that?” I gasped, my body shaking from whatever that was. Pleasure pulses through my body. “It felt like an… Like an orgasm.” I try to catch my breath.
“It was.” A devious smile splits across Azra’s perfect face as he pulls his fingers out and shoves them back in. The small zap happens again. My head falls back as my pleasure crashes into my body over and over. My moans almost turn into screams of bliss.
“What are you doing? How are you doing that?” I ask through my heavy breathing.
“There is a reason my markings are similar to lightning, baby.” He slowly pulls his fingers out and shoves them in again, zapping once more. My body tenses to the point of aching as I scream through my third orgasm in a matter of a minute.
“Why haven’t you done this before?” I can barely catch my breath as my body twitches from the back-to-back orgasms.
“I didn’t know if your human body could take it. Now, if we are done with the questions, I would prefer to follow my orders and fuck you.” Azra rips my underwear and bra right off my body. Before he can sink into me, I grab his arms and shoulders and turn him until his back slams into the bed. The wood of the bed frame groans from the impact.
I climb on top of him, running my similarly marked hands over his tattoos. His muscles ripple beneath my palms and I lower myself onto him. Azra’s moans are music to my ears as I lift myself up and then ram back down on top of his dick.
My hands on his chest start to glow the closer I get to my fourth orgasm. His fingers dig into my hips but it doesn’t hurt as it has before.
If anything, it fuels me to go faster, deeper, as I chase the high he gives me.
“ Fuck , Brielle,” he mutters under his breath. His eyes illuminate but not like they normally do. I realize it’s a golden glow reflecting what he is seeing.
Me.
My whole body is glowing like our eyes do.
The light grows brighter and brighter as my body trembles as we come at the same time. Our moans fill the room while our bliss seems to last for longer than usual.
Once the waves of satisfaction subside, I drop beside him. We both stare at the ceiling as we catch our breath. Lifting on my elbows, I look at the dent in the wall from where he slammed into it. Cracks are webbing from the indent. The dresser I pushed him into is cracked right down the middle.
“You should have ripped that damn necklace off me a lot sooner if it’s like this,” I mutter. He laughs turning to his side and brushes my hair behind my ear.
“I didn’t know it would be like this .” Azra gently kisses my shoulder and then my cheek. “Because trust me, angel. I would have.” I turn to face him, slipping my hand under my head to hold it up.
“It’s never been this way with anyone else?” I ask, almost scared how his answer will make me feel.
“No, never. Not even with other fallen angels.” He rolls back to his back. I stare at his perfect profile and sharp features. Features that are so different from mine even now that I am fully a nephilim. “You are perfect just the way you are.”
“Get out of my head.” I pluck his nose and laugh.
“Well, I was just making sure I didn’t have to get you out of your mind with round two.” Azra turns his head and smiles. I run my finger over that one shallow dimple.
“Oh yeah? How were you going to do that?” My brow flicks up.
“I would have had to fuck all those degrading thoughts out of your head.”
“If that’s the case.” I smirk before pulling him on top of me.
He was happy to oblige.
Azra barely sets my third plate of breakfast before me before I shovel the eggs into my mouth. I haven’t been able to stomach the thought of eating for weeks. Now, I feel each day I didn’t eat coming back to haunt me.
No matter how much I eat, it doesn’t fix the ache of hunger. I feel like Torin.
Andrea usually meets me down here for breakfast every morning and then we train. By the end of our training, she always has something to do with Celeste or the seamstress in the village she has become close with.
I try to stay home and rest as much as I can while my power still settles into my body even a month after the ritual. I can’t think about Andrea performing it too much or the anxiety in my chest becomes nearly unbearable.
She seems to be handling everything just fine. She loves it here and has told her parents she will be extending her stay even longer than the three months she has already been here.
“When you’re done, angel, I have somewhere I want to take you.” Azra leans down and kisses my forehead before taking my empty plate from in front of me.
“I think I’m actually done. Maybe my appetite is finally giving me a break.” I laugh and stand from the table. Azra steps beside me, his hands slide over my ass, and pulls me into him.
“Do you want to try vanishing again?” I recall last week when I tried and only ended up a few steps further in the library. Azra and Andrea only giggled, and I gave them such a death stare they pretended to be looking at everything but me. I had to let a giggle slip from how funny they looked.
“Well, you see, I would but I don’t know where we are going.” I flick up my brow and watch as Azra squints his eyes at me. He knows what I’m doing.
“Good excuse,” he mutters before his lips gently press to mine and the world around us blurs on a cool wind.
The misty breeze hits my face and I know where we are before my vision clears. We are at the ledge where Azra and his siblings fell. We were all speechless when Andrea informed us that one of her ancestors, a nephilim like me, created this place from heartbreak.
Azra agreed that this would be a perfect dumping ground for misfits and the Forsaken. Hence why he calls it that and has accepted creatures of all kinds to have a safe home here.
We frequent this spot often because of the beautiful view of the separated mountains and the relaxing sound of the waves. Azra steps beside me as I take in all the scenery for the hundredth time. It’ll never get old. They just don’t have places like this in Louisiana.
“This is where it all began for me to find you. What better place to begin this next chapter for us.” My brows pinch as he kneels before me. The body of water sparkling in the morning sun behind him is a scene out of a dream. The words that leave his mouth take me a moment to register.
“Wh—what?” I stutter while I process exactly what he is asking.
“Be my queen.” His hand reaches up and the pad of his thumb brushes across my cheek as my breathing halts for a second. “You’ve been staying here full time and everyone in the realm loves you. I wouldn’t trust my realm, our realm, with anyone other than you. Be mine in every sense of the word.”
His words have a sting causing tears to gloss over my eyes. The only way I would become queen is if…
“Yes.” Azra smiles and nods before me. “I understand this is how humans ask for their lover’s hand.” A small chuckle passes through my fingers that are resting against my lips as I peer down at the love of my life. “Brielle Josephine Corbin, will you do me the honor of spending the rest of our eternity thawing this icy heart of mine with your relentless fire and passion?” Suddenly a small circled object appears between Azra’s thumb and forefinger.
The beautiful large black diamond is cut in the rarest kite shape I have ever seen. The silver and gold band cases the diamond perfectly as a swirling night sky appears in the stone.
I suck in a shaky breath as I glance back into the same icy eyes I’ve barely been able to look away from since I’ve seen them. Trying to push the words up my throat and out my mouth but I’m unsuccessful so I quickly nod my head. Before I can even fully nod, I’m being lifted from the ground and spun around.
“I love you.” Those three words from his mouth are enough to stop my heart in my chest for a beat. He sets me back on my feet and slides the ring on my left hand.
“I love you more,” I whisper as I wrap my arms around his neck and smash our lips together.
“I have one more surprise for you at home.” He smiles as he sets me back down. My brow flicks up at this “surprise” he says he has.
Home
I am finally home.
The room becomes clear as we appear back in the kitchen. Celeste is sitting on the window seal reading her book when she looks over to Azra with pure excitement on her face.
The back of my hand connects with Azra’s chest when I realize he has probably already told everyone my answer through a summon. A deep chuckle comes from his mouth as he grabs at his chest.
“Careful, angel, you have a weapon in that hand now.” His bright smile, I swear, lights up the entire kitchen.
Celeste squeals and comes running over to me.
“Holy shit Azra, it's even more stunning on her finger! You did gooood.” She drags out her last word as she holds my hand up in different positions so the ring can catch the light. “I’ve been impatiently waiting until you were officially my sister.” Celeste smiles before bringing me in for a hug. Her scent of a flower garden on a fresh summer day consumes my nostrils. I can’t stop the genuine smile on my face when she releases me.
Celeste never left my side in the days after losing Willow. She has such a nurturing soul that can warm anyone’s heart.
“Where’s Andrea?” I ask, usually, she isn’t far from Celeste and Salem isn’t here today.
“She mentioned picking a bouquet for you earlier, she may be in the garden. I do have to admit that she knows already as well. I had to ask someone for permission for your hand. Couldn’t think of anyone better.” Azra’s shallow dimple shows as he smirks down at me.
My cheeks hurt from the smile that hadn’t left my face in hours.
“We can announce the engagement at the ball tonight and celebrate our future queen!” Celeste squeals and claps.
“No, no, no. We don’t need?—”
“Shh. It’s happening.” Celeste pulls me in for another hug, her blonde hair tickling my nose.
“Did you tell everyone we know already?” I glance at Azra, raise my brow, and cross my arms over my chest.
“No,” Azra answers. I tilt my head and squint at him. “I only told the ones who can hear my summons. Your brother doesn’t know yet.” He smiles.
“I wish he were here so I could.” I look down at the ring on my finger and remember all the times we talked about this day when we were little.
“Maybe you can.” Azra smirks and nods his head to the archway behind me. My eyes widen as I spin around and see that shaggy brown hair and that perfect white smile.
“Zach!” I barrel into him causing him to take a few steps back.
“The tackling every time you see me isn’t necessary, Brielle.” He chuckles as he wraps his arms around me tight. I pull back and study him.
“Have you been working out?” I squeeze his new muscular arms. He chuckles and clutches his stomach. “Are you okay? Do you need to sit?”
“No, I’ll be fine. I just had lunch but I will never get used to the way y’all travel.” Zach shivers as he recalls the teleporting. I know exactly how he feels, though I thankfully got used to it quickly.
“You should have heard his scream when I appeared in his apartment, I thought he had a lady friend over.” Torin walks through the archway with a smirk. “I believe there is a congratulation in order.” Torin approaches me and extends his hand. “Welcome to the family, tyrant.” He smirks, knowing he only says these things to get under my skin.
I grip his hand and let my power flow into his. He jumps back and shakes his hand, a booming laugh comes from his mouth. I think it’s the first time I have ever heard him laugh.
“Where’s Andrea? I need to talk to her about something.” Zach looks around nervously. I wonder what they have to talk to about that is making him nervous. He better not be crushing on her again.
“I believe she’s in the garden, I can go get her—” Celeste begins but I cut her off.
“I was actually going to ask if you would help me with my dress for tonight, it’s a little loose.” I squint, hoping I’m not burdening her.
“Yeah, I can go find her. We should have this conversation in private.” Zach clears his throat. I ignore his weirdness when Celeste’s eyes move to Azra’s and quickly dart away. A smile forms on her face.
“Of course, I’d love to.” She turns and points to the door that leads out to the garden from the kitchen. “If you go out of these doors, she will be close by.”
Zach nods and disappears through the door.
