Chapter 19 Tumy
I felt so much better talking to Major and was glad to know we both had the same feelings.
I wanted to cry because he had hurt my feelings, and I didn’t want to leave on a bad note.
I didn’t have anyone or anything important to do at home, so it was nothing for me to agree to stay.
I ran my own business, so it wasn’t like I had someone to check in with.
It was a good thing I packed extra food for Sparrow, because I couldn’t have my boy out here not eating.
When I went into the bedroom to change, I texted Mariah to let her know that I was staying longer. She asked for details, but I told her I would tell her when I was free.
I wasn’t sure where Major planned on taking me, but I decided to put on a dress that I packed at the last minute.
Initially, I didn’t have plans on doing anything that required a dress, but I remembered my mom saying to always pack something for different occasions.
I lived by that rule my entire adult life, even though most of the time I didn’t use whatever I packed.
The weekend was supposed to be a time to reflect on my life and relax; instead, I had a gun in my face, then was put through the mattress by a stubborn ass man.
I couldn’t help how I felt about him, though.
Major was . . . major. There was no other way to describe his presence.
He had the type of aura that commanded attention in any room he stepped into.
I felt him in my bones even when he wasn’t in the same room as me.
I couldn’t wrap my head around how that was possible.
Even with him pulling back, I didn’t feel that our story was over.
At least, I hoped it wasn’t. I wanted to jump for joy when I saw him standing in the living room when I came out of the bedroom.
I kept it cool for the most part, but I knew he didn’t miss the water that filled my eyes.
He for sure didn’t miss the tear that escaped.
I hated feeling so vulnerable after he had hurt me, but I was glad I wasn’t alone in this.
Once I was redressed in something more date appropriate, I grabbed my camera and my phone.
“Major and I are going out for a little while,” I told Sparrow as I patted his head.
He looked at me like he didn’t give a damn. I giggled and shook my head, then left the room.
Major stood from the couch when I walked back into the living room. I felt much better than when I saw him a few minutes prior. He looked a lot more relieved as well.
His eyes swept over my body. “You had that dress in your bag all along?” He licked his bottom lip.
“Yes.” I shrugged. “I don’t even know why I packed it; it’s not like I had somewhere to wear it to.”
Major walked closer to me and rested his hands on my hips. He leaned back a little to look at me again.
The dress I wore was a black and dark brown sweater midi dress. It hugged my body and was long enough to keep my legs warm. I had black calf boots to go with it.
“I’m glad you did. That shit look good on you. You hungry?”
He placed his hand on the small of my back and led me to the door.
Major changed into black pants with a black sweater.
On his feet, he wore a pair of black Timberlands.
His two silver chains rested against his chest. The light bounced off his shiny beard.
He pulled his hair up into a messy bun. There was a square diamond stud in each ear.
Whatever cologne he wore made me clench my thighs.
“Yes, I’m hungry. You look nice,” I told him as he held my coat open for me.
“Thanks.”
He opened the door, and I was surprised to see a black-on-black Hellcat.
“Sir, you drove this here knowing it could potentially snow?”
Major chuckled behind me as he locked the cabin door.
“I did. It’s my baby. I do have special tires on her, though, so we are fine. We are only going down the hill anyway.”
I cut my eyes at him because I was still skeptical, but I didn’t think he was crazy enough to drive without taking the proper precautions.
He opened the door, and I slid inside. The inside of the car was warm, including the seat.
“Just down the hill? I thought this was a date.” I put my seat belt on and rested my camera on my lap.
“This is a date, and yes. I didn’t necessarily have anything planned.
I wasn’t even sure if you would agree.” He buckled his seat belt, then pinned his eyes on me.
His gaze traveled slowly over my body, making me flush with heat.
“Also, with that dress on, I need to keep you to myself.” He licked his lips.
“You look too fucking good to be sharing with others. I need as much alone time with you as possible before you go home. We do have to eat, though.” He winked, then pulled away from the cabin.
I was surprised by the jazz music that played over the radio. I for sure thought he would have blasted some rap music.
It only took a minute or two to drive down the hill. If I didn’t have a dress on, we could have walked.
When we arrived, Major pulled up to the valet, then got out and came around to my side of the car. I placed my hand in his, and he helped me out.
Major’s hand was on my lower back as he led me to the door. The restaurant was fairly empty, so we were escorted to a table right away.
Major helped me out of my coat, then draped it on the empty chair next to me before sitting across from me.
Two glasses were filled from the water pitcher as we got settled in our seats. The tables were covered in stark white tablecloths with a candle in the middle of the table. Sparkly silverware was placed in their correct places on each side of the plates.
The waitress took our orders, then walked away from the table.
“Thank you for not cursing me out earlier,” Major said once we were alone.
“I wanted to, but there was no need for it. You might have liked it,” I teased.
“Nah, not this time. When we first met, yes, I would have. After last night, I wasn’t trying to be any more on your bad side than I was.”
It was kind of fun messing with Major in the beginning, but if I had cursed him when he tried to talk, I would have said something I couldn’t take back.
“Well, we are past that now.” I smiled and took a sip of my water.
Major sat back in his seat and drank some of his water, too.
After a few seconds passed, Major sat up with elbows on the table.
“I have a confession.”
My heart pounded in my chest because I felt like he was about to tell me he had a wife or girlfriend at home.
“Oh Lord.”
“Calm down.” He chuckled. “I was afraid to ask you where you lived in case we lived in different states. Then, I realized it didn’t matter where you were; I would find a way to see you.”
My chest squeezed as my heart stopped for a quick second.
“Whew.” I wiped the imaginary sweat from my forehead, and Major chuckled. “Not going to lie, I was afraid to ask you, too. Don’t ask me why. To answer the question, I live in Sunrise Valley.”
“Get the fuck out of here.” Major’s eyes widened as he chuckled and shook his head.
The waitress returned with our food, so Major sat back so she could put the plates down, but his widened eyes hadn’t left me.
“Do you guys need anything else?”
“No. We’re good. Thanks.” Major responded for both of us. “Tumy, I fucking live in Sunrise Valley, too. How the hell have we never run into each other?”
I couldn’t believe we lived in the same town this whole time. It was also weird that we hadn’t met before, but Sunrise Valley was kinda big.
“I guess it wasn’t the right time.”
“Shit, we definitely have to see where this thing goes once we leave. I believe it’s destined to be.”
I didn’t want to read too much into what he said, but I also didn’t want to waste my time with someone who wasn’t trying to build a future together.
“What exactly does that mean for you?” I asked as I cut a piece of the lambchop lollipop on my plate. It came served with roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes. There was also a side of tzatziki sauce.
Major took his time responding as he chewed his food. I was glad that he didn’t rush to answer, because I didn’t want him to say what he thought I wanted to hear.
He wiped his mouth, then leaned forward again. His gaze was trained on me.
“It means that we date, spend time with each other, and no one else. I have no problem using my gun, Tumy. Please don’t get anybody killed,” he said with finality.
His voice didn’t waver, and his eyes never left mine. Major meant what he said, and I felt that fact flow through my body. My thighs squeezed together under the table. I shouldn’t have been aroused, but the look in his eyes couldn’t be missed.
“I’m not thinking about anyone else.” I leaned forward on my elbows. “I just need you to know that I may not use a gun, but don’t get anybody beat up.”
The left side of Major’s lip lifted in a sly grin.
“You know you just made my dick hard right?” He adjusted himself under the table, and I laughed loudly. “On some real shit, Tumy. I’m not trying to play games with your heart. I’m in this thing with you, and hopefully it only progresses from here.”
I nodded and raised my glass. “To us.”
“To us.”
We clinked glasses and continued talking for another hour before we headed back to the cabin.
The minute we got inside, Major carried me over to the fireplace, where he spent the night buried deep inside of me.
