Chapter Twelve Liza
I woke up to the sound of knocking on the door and a whispered, “Liza” from what sounded like Isabella.
I was a little disoriented and not sure what she was doing here in my house right now.
I looked around the room feeling more confused when I realized I was laying on a king size bed with a dark wooden frame, surrounded by nice dark silky smooth sheets.
Now everything came back to me and I realized that I was in Dragon’s room.
That I had agreed to move into his home because my boys’ wanted to be with their ‘Cane’.
How in the world could I possibly say no to that?
With a sigh, I roll over and look towards the door that Isabella is peaking through.
“Hey, what’s going on?”
“This little guy started searching for food and I can’t give him what you can.” Isabella says with a chuckle.
I sit up in bed and reach over to the nightstand next to me and turn on the light.
“You can bring him in.”
I look at the time on the clock and notice that it is after ten at night.
“What are you doing here so late?”
I ask her because honestly if I were her, I’d be getting dick from both of those hot as fuck bikers she gets to share a bed with. She hands me Jaxon as I get situated.
“Dragon had some things he wanted to talk to Twister and Domino about. Plus we wanted to see our nephew. It was a little crazy at the hospital and we wanted to give you some time with your brothers.”
“Well thank you, really. I haven’t seen them in years.”
She gives me a smile and looks towards the window.
“You know Liza, you can talk to me whenever you want, right? I mean I know we don’t know each other all that well, but I’d love to get to know you better. I’d love to be there for you. I know you are really close to Peyton and Parker,
but sometimes there are things you can’t talk to them about when you are with their brother. Trust me on that. Those girls do not want to hear about the things their brother does to me with Domino. I also guess since your family and all that, I don’t need to refer to them by their road names.”
I shake my head, “I’m not family. I’m just Dragon’s baby mama. Once we get everything figured out, I’ll be back in my home and he will share custody of the boys. Apparently that’s what I’m signing up for because he claims he wants all three boys to be spending time with them and not just Jaxon.”
Isabella nods her head and looks away briefly.
“Liza, I don’t think you’re ever getting out of here. Cane, as big of a dick as he was to you, he loves you with everything that he has. You’re never walking away, he’s not going to let you.
I know that he is much more possessive than my men and trust me when I say those alphaholes are a pain in my ass on the best day.”
I chuckle at that, “I appreciate the sentiment and the fact that you’re standing up for your brother-in-law or whatever he is to you, but I’ve heard a lot of bullshit from bikers. I’ve been around a club all my life. I’ve seen a lot of shit.
I also came here thinking after seeing this family that they are not like most of the bikers I know, but turns out I was wrong. Do you know what all he did to me? Did he tell you everything he said? I think if Twister or Domino said that shit to you, you’d have cut their balls off. I mean,
you’re a badass mafia princess. I’m sure you would’ve killed them or even slowly tortured them.”
She smirks, “I mean you aren’t wrong. If those boys ever wronged me I would go for the jugular. But I also see a lot of where Cane was coming from Liza. Fear makes you act in mysterious ways and so does grief.
I think you know that and I think a lot of how you are responding to him now is because of fear. You’ve been through a lot, even I can see that.”
I still listen to her words and make eye contact with her. Something flashes in her eyes and leaves just as fast.
“What do you think you know about what I’ve been through?”
“I know you’ve been through trauma. More than you should in your life. I know you are a young single mom who would do anything for her babies. What I know is nothing unless you want to talk about it. Have you talked about it with anyone since it happened?”
I look down at Jaxon and shake my head.
“I don’t see a point in reliving anything. I’m fine. I got out, I got myself far away from there with the help of someone I could trust. Trusting is a hard thing to do when people constantly show you that they are pieces of shit who can’t be trusted.”
Before Isabella can answer the door creaks open and Dragon comes in.
From the look on his face I can tell he heard some of the conversation and honestly, I’m starting to wonder what all he was fucking told.
I never told my brothers anything, they knew the bare minimum because that’s all I let Glitch tell them.
He knew more, but not everything. There is no need for anyone to know everything that happened. No one needs to know.
“Hey, the guys are heading out. Thanks for coming over and meeting the little guy.”
“Anytime.” She turns back to me, “I mean it Liza, I’m here, always.” She then heads out and squeezes Dragon’s arm as she leaves.
Now for the first time in a long time it is just Dragon and myself, alone, in his bedroom with all the heaviness between us.
