Chapter Eleven #2
“Sev,” Rosie said. “Are you… are you a halfcon by any chance?”
“Not at all,” I answered. “I mean, they’re cute, and most of them have pretty funny personalities, but I’m not interested in them like that. It’s just… isn’t Fredericka’s motherly energy way too powerful?”
Lupa nodded. “It is.”
“See? Lupa understands.”
Rosie didn’t look impressed. “Mhm. Were there any halfling girls in the game you romanced?”
“In my defense, I romanced everyone in the game at least once for the pure sake of being a completionist who refused to let even one line of dialogue go untouched. The men, the women, and even the halflings. I feel no shame in this.”
Lupa clung to my arm and said, “I believe in Master. Master only likes girls with big boobs.”
“Well, not only those, but I’m not into halflings. Or men, just so that’s clear.”
“So, if that girl came back out here and asked to be your third wife, would you deny her?”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“Halfcon.”
“I’m not!” I shouted. “Would you deny her if it meant getting to eat her food every single day for the rest of your life?!”
Lupa shook her head. “I wouldn’t. I support Master being a halfcon if it means getting to eat her food every day.”
Rosie gave me a gentle smack on my arm and said, “Well, it’s not like I care beyond teasing you about it. If it means I get to tease you about something for once, then I’m not missing that opportunity. Even if it means I’m the first wife to a halfcon.”
“I feel my reputation sinking by the second,” I said.
“And just for the record, none of the halfling trio were romanceable in the game. Tabitha was married to her work, Marissa thought romance sounded too tiring to deal with, and Fredericka was the type of woman who loved everyone in the city equally and felt that getting remarried would take away from her time bringing smiles to everyone while filling their stomachs.”
“Wait… remarried?”
“Oh, my bad. That’s forbidden knowledge.
But now that I’ve said it, yeah, she was married and had a daughter but got a divorce since her ex got jealous of her always being around other people.
” It was another one of those things the game was kind of inconsistent about.
One would think that, in a world set up like this, guys wouldn’t be jealous of girls in the first place.
But for the sake of character backstory and drama, ones relevant to the story often behaved more like men from Earth than men from this world.
“She not only had a husband, but a husband who actually got jealous of her?!”
“Just goes to show how much she loves taking care of others.”
“She—she’s on a whole other level… wait, did you say she had a daughter?”
“Yeah, but I never saw her. She was only mentioned during one line of flavor text.”
Rosie and Lupa looked at each other. I couldn’t tell what they were thinking, but it was obvious they were on the same page of something.
I also realized that Lupa hadn’t questioned anything about me referencing a game.
She seemed more than happy to just go with the flow even when I was saying things that should have either sounded shocking or delusional.
It must not have mattered to her. All that mattered was that I was the one saying it.
We ended up visiting one more place before heading to the dungeon.
The Adventurer’s Guild. It was the main quest hub in the game where adventurers went to find work as well as to recruit new party members for the dungeons.
The building was pretty large and connected right to Dungeon Plaza, so there was no reason to not go there first to check for quests and to—apparently—check if any dungeons had reported invaders.
And of course, as soon as I stepped inside…
“What’s a man doing here?!”
“Look at that hottie! Are those his wives? Do you think he’s looking for more?”
“We should invite him to our party!”
“Ah… I want to get lost in a dungeon together with him…”
“I bet his ass looks so good when he’s bending over to loot chests…”
Yep.
The women were like that pretty much everywhere we went, even in the Adventurer’s Guild. I was prepared to have to tell some of them that I wasn’t interested, but…
Lupa released that terrifying aura of hers to put everyone in their place.
Rather than look at me with lust, the women switched between half giving up and looking away with the other half glaring at Lupa as a challenger to defeat.
“Thanks, Lupa,” I said, petting her head as a reward.
Lupa’s tail wagged in return as she pressed her head up against my hand to nuzzle it, making those women even more jealous. I wanted to do my part in putting them in their place.
Wait.
The Adventurer’s Guild.
There were allies who could be recruited from it by chance encounters later on, but… there was one woman available to be found in it right from the beginning of the game.
A woman who was not originally romanceable much to everyone’s despair to the point where Seth released an update making it possible to turn her into a party member and thus romance her.
I walked up to the counter at the back of the lobby where several employees of the guild were already assisting other adventurers. There was only one of them I was interested in, though, and it just so happened that she was available.
She was—ridiculously—considered extremely unattractive in this world.
Why? Because she was considered morbidly obese.
Beyond morbidly obese, even. Why? Because her chest. She was a girl with a healthy, lean frame everywhere except her chest…
which hosted breasts about three times the size of her head.
They were mountains.
A pair of enormous mountains that belonged to a cheery cat girl with blonde hair that had pink highlights, pink eyes, and who wore a typical fantasy guild girl outfit that failed to cover her breasts at all, resulting in cleavage as vast as the ocean spilling out onto the desk.
Thanks to her height, the size of her breasts, and the height of her desk, she had no option but to let her breasts hang down onto the desk whenever she was working.
If the desk wasn’t in the way, it would have been obvious how they were large enough to completely cover up her abdomen. They were even bigger than Rosie’s despite Rosie being part holstaur.
Seeing such beautiful mountains desperate to be climbed that belonged to a cat girl with an adorable face and great personality was more than enough reason to visit the guild on its own.
“I knew it,” Lupa said. “Master likes them big.”
“Sev, you’re going to make her cry if you keep staring at them that hard,” Rosie said.
Surely enough, the girl behind the counter, Stella, looked like she was about to cry. As far as she was concerned, probably one of the only guys she ever met couldn’t stop staring at her “disgusting, useless fat” as this world would put it.
I was about to say something when Lupa beat me to it.
“Be my teacher,” Lupa said, staring at Stella’s breasts instead of her face. “Teach me your ways.”
“E-eh? What?” Stella replied. “Why—what do you—”
“Master loves boobs. Big ones.” Lupa lifted her own breasts up from below to get her point across. “I need to get bigger.”
Lupa was being way too loud since everyone around us started whispering about me. Rosie was no help, either. Rosie simply stood there looking at me with an expression that told me I deserved this.
As for those whispers…
“Did you hear that? A guy who likes boobs?”
“No way, no way, there has to be a misunderstanding.”
“I’ve never heard of a guy who likes fat girls before…”
“Maybe it’s his fetish? Wait, if he has a fetish for fat girls… maybe I have a chance with him?”
“I passed on that bikini armor because I thought it was embarrassing, but now I regret it…”
“We have to make our move soon before every big girl in the city swarms him. Even if they’re my sisters in weight… I won’t lose to them!”
The crowd of women was closing in, but Lupa scared them all off again before they got too close.
“Sorry about that,” I said to Stella. “I was distracted by how pretty you are.”
Neither Stella nor the other girls around who were all listening and watching at this point could believe it. The whispers grew even louder, and Stella was looking around as if to see if someone was standing behind her that I was talking to instead. “Are—are you talking to me?”
It was extremely difficult to look her in her eyes when I felt a gravitational pull equal to that of a black hole tempting my eyes downward. “I hope so,” I answered.
“Oh. Oh—wow. Umm. Ah. Aha. Sorry. I—I really wasn’t—I should have done my hair better.” She reached up to start fidgeting with her hair. “Oh. Oh, gosh. Um. Hi. Yes, hello.” She checked me out with reddened cheeks and gulped. “Woah.” She pinched her cheek. “You—you’re real.”
I was starting to feel as flustered as her. “As far as I’m aware, I am.”
Stella looked to her left and then her right where her coworkers were. “You—the girls in line would have let you skip them. You don’t have to use me just because I’m the only one available. My coworkers are like, crazy beautiful, yeah? Way better than—”
“I would have waited for you even if there was a line.”
Stella looked at her coworkers again. Fortunately, they were chill since they each winked and gave Stella thumbs ups with expressions that said, “You go girl! Now’s your chance!
” It was nice to see girls be supportive of each other as opposed to the legions of snarling, starving beasts behind me who Lupa was still holding off with her glaring.
Stella then blinked a few times, fidgeted with her hair, looked at me, looked away, fidgeted with her hair some more, and then said, “S—so like… um… how—how can I help you?”
“I wanted to check for quests and to see if there were any invaders in—”
“Gods, you’re hot.”
I did a double take hearing that. “I’m what now?” Obviously, I heard her, but I had a feeling she didn’t realize she said it herself.
“Di—did I say something? There’s… there’s no way I said that out loud, right? Aha, I was just, totally thinking that, definitely not saying it… right?”
