Chapter 17 Late Night Awkwardness and CP Buzz
I didn't believe it and didn't bring it up with Ji Mingxu.
I just focused on acting.
Having my childhood friend in the same crew had advantages. His assistant would prepare an extra diet meal for me.
"Why do I have to eat grass with you?"
Ji Mingxu said, "If your assistant prepared it, wouldn't it still be grass?"

Filming required good on-camera looks, so actors faced strict body standards.
Though I lacked career drive, I definitely didn't want to be the one slacking.
One evening I arranged with the female lead and second male to go to Ji Mingxu's room for line practice. It got late. Midway I yawned, leaned back on the sofa, and closed my eyes.
I lost control and dozed off.
When I awoke, only I remained in the suite. The female lead and second male had left at some point.
The next second the bathroom door opened.
Ji Mingxu emerged covered in steam. He wore black pajamas with buttons loosely fastened. I clearly saw a water droplet slide along his jawline before slowly vanishing into his collar.
I stared at his faintly visible chest muscles, feeling a bit at a loss. "Can you pay some attention to male virtue?"
Ji Mingxu said, "If this counts as not paying attention, what about those borderline guys you watch online? Didn't you call them pure innocent boys?"
“...”
"Where did they go?"
"They left."
"Then why didn't you wake me?" I punched him lightly. "Do you know how many scandals come from male and female actors sharing a room in the crew?"
Ji Mingxu looked at me and smiled. "Don't we already have some?"
After the variety show with Ji Mingxu, I really picked up some CP fans with him.
I had watched a few of their edited videos. They were weird. Extremely weird.
The months of filming in the crew felt quite relaxing. I wasn't exaggerating. My acting was at least passable.
Ji Mingxu made no effort to hide how close we were. Over time I stopped minding. If he didn't avoid suspicion, I might as well benefit from it.
Still, the crew's attitude toward us troubled me somewhat. The female lead would sometimes get excited watching Ji Mingxu and me chat.
She had been misled by the online edits and was shipping hard.
I tried clarifying my relationship with Ji Mingxu to her.
The female lead said, "I've worked with Ji Mingxu before too. He never prepares meals for others or has any physical contact with the opposite sex outside of filming. And when he's not acting, the way he looks at you is so gentle."
“...”
Oh man, she was in way too deep.
