LAILAH #2

As I leaned back slightly, he latched onto one of my nipples as he supported my back with his other hand, letting me trust in his ability to keep me from falling.

In this moment, there was nothing but trust and love flowing between us, wrapped up in what felt like a magical hug.

Why would I ever want to return to the real world when I could have this in my life forever, have him with me forever?

Needing more from him, I hooked a hand around his neck and pulled myself to him, kissing him deeply before I pushed on his chest, asking him to lean back.

Once I was on top, I moved with a little more purpose.

I’d enjoyed the slow sensual moment between us, but now I was craving him.

I needed to have him fill me to the brim until I couldn’t take anymore of him in, and he wouldn’t do it for fear of hurting me so I was gonna have to take matters in hand.

Riding him, I rocked my hips in such a way that I didn’t have to lift myself off of him and lose that contact.

My hand spread out wide on his chest, feeling his heart thundering as he panted, telling me he was getting close.

I cupped the side of his face and leaned down to rest my forehead on his, speeding up, knowing we both wouldn’t last much longer.

With one final thrust, we both fell over the cliff and exploded with pleasure, moaning and clinging to each other.

As we caught our breaths, a tear trailed down my cheek, knowing that this dream was going to end soon. It broke my heart that when I woke up, he wouldn’t be there with me.

“Don’t leave me, Parker,” I whispered, my lips brushing his. “I can’t do this without you. I don’t want to do this without you.”

Parker opened his eyes and I could see the sadness and fear in them. “What I wouldn’t give to do this all over so I never had to leave you.”

He tilted his chin up so our lips met and I could feel him pouring every ounce of love that he could into me, and I did the same, needing to believe this was real.

There was no way a dream could be this real, and if it was real, then I wasn’t going to let him go.

Watching him walk away from me twice in a lifetime was enough for me.

I didn’t plan on letting it happen ever again.

The world around us started to glow so bright it drew my attention, breaking our kiss.

The air around us was alight with gold and purple energy, wrapping us up in a cocoon until it seemed to hum and vibrate as if it was alive.

As the power level continued to grow, I noticed there was a haze of dark energy floating between our powers.

It looked the same as when I purged the others from the demon venom.

There was something clinging to Parker’s powers.

Sitting up, I looked at the man below me. “This is real...” He looked hesitant to answer me but he nodded that I was correct. “Is it true you made an oath with the Dark Lord?”

“Well, it was with Makoto but it was on behalf of the Dark Lord. He even made me spill blood over it to ensure that if I betrayed them, I would die for that betrayal.”

Hope bloomed in my chest at his answer. “I think I can save you.”

“Lailah, I’m dead. I felt my heart stop the moment I helped you all get in that truck and leave the base. Trust me when I say that I am definitely no longer a part of the world of the living.”

Rolling off him, I grabbed my shirt and pants, pulling them on, needing to think clearly, and I couldn’t do that naked.

“I don’t think you’re dead-dead. I think you’re in purgatory or something because that’s what this place is, the thin veil between our world and Hell.

That’s why the Dark Lord could pull me here to talk to him when he can’t enter the real world.

What if the Dark Lord has to come here to get you before you’re totally dead, unable to come back? Will you let me try to save you?”

Parker sat there looking all mussed from sex and incredibly distracting so I tossed him his clothes. “Trouble, you know I can’t say no to you but I don’t want you to be hurt worse if it doesn’t work. That is the last thing I want.”

“I’ll take that under advisement. Now, put your clothes on so I can do this and not want to jump your bones again. Knowing that you’re not my imagination changes things and I want nothing more than to try out all the crazy things I’m sure you have saved up in that brain of yours.”

He just grinned as he got dressed and came to stand before me. “Alright, now what?”

“I have a theory and it has to do with how I was purged of the Dark Lord’s hold on me and how I got the venom out of the others.”

“So what you’re telling me is this is going to hurt—a lot.” Parker grimaced but took a deep breath. “If this is the price I have to pay to get my life back then fuck it, the pain will mean I’m alive, right?”

“That’s the spirit,” I answered, popping up on my toes to kiss him. “Ready?”

“As ready as you can be to hopefully return from the dead.”

Nodding, I took both of his hands and closed my eyes, centering myself and reaching for my powers.

When I went slower, it hurt less, but I used more power in the long run.

On the other hand, when I blasted Jay, he was in a world of hurt but I could burn out the venom faster.

Maybe I could try what I did with Jay’s mother and seek out the poison and then destroy it.

Sending out a whip of my golden power, I let it flow through Parker’s body until I found what I was looking for.

It seemed that his whole right arm was full of the dark energy and it was growing the longer it was left to its own devices.

This must be the hand that he’d bled from.

Could this be why he was still here? Was the Dark Lord waiting for the curse to take over his whole body, turning him evil?

“So this is a good news, bad news moment,” I stated, opening my eyes to look at Parker. “I’ve found what I need to get rid of but it’s more than I’ve ever managed before. This is going to hurt like a bitch for me to burn out of you.”

“Where was the good news in that, Trouble?”

“That I’m going to get rid of every last drop of it and set you free to bring you back with me,” I answered with a bright smile. “I’ll just pull from your powers when I feel like I’m reaching a point I can’t manage on my own.”

He looked skeptical but a resigned look settled onto his face. “Can I at least sit down for this? I’m afraid if I’m standing, I won’t be able to endure it as well.”

“Smart call,” I agreed.

Sitting cross-legged in front of each other, I took his right hand in both of mine, knowing this was where I had to concentrate my powers. “I love you, Parker Jones. No matter how this goes, I need you to know that.”

“I love you too, Trouble, and I’ll see you on the other side. I have no doubt.”
