Chapter 12 The Crystal Cavern

The journey toward the Celestial Mountains lasted many days, carrying Prince Li Wei Chen, Yu Lan, General Han Mo, and Mei Xue far beyond the borders of the capital and deep into territories few travelers dared to visit.

As they ventured farther from the familiar lands of the empire, the scenery gradually transformed from cultivated fields and bustling villages into vast wilderness where ancient forests stretched endlessly across the horizon and snow-capped peaks towered above the clouds like silent guardians

watching over the world below.

Although the beauty of the mountains was breathtaking, the journey itself was far from easy.

The winding trails were steep and treacherous, forcing the group to navigate narrow paths carved into towering cliffs while cold winds swept through the valleys below.

During the day, they traveled beneath brilliant blue skies, but the nights brought an eerie stillness that reminded them they were approaching a place deeply connected to old legends and forgotten magic.

As they continued their ascent, Yu Lan became increasingly aware of the jade pendant resting against her chest.

The stone seemed more alive than ever before, pulsing with warmth whenever they moved closer to the mountain range.

At times, she could almost hear a faint whisper drifting through her thoughts, too distant to fully understand yet impossible to ignore.

On the seventh evening of their journey, as the sun disappeared behind the peaks and painted the sky with shades of crimson and gold, the pendant suddenly flared with brilliant emerald light.

The horses became restless.

The surrounding air shimmered.

And before anyone could react, a narrow pathway hidden behind a curtain of silver waterfalls revealed itself between the rocks.

General Han Mo immediately placed a hand upon the hilt of his sword.

"This wasn't here a moment ago."

Mei Xue stared at the concealed passage in astonishment.

"It is as though the mountain itself opened for us."

Yu Lan instinctively touched the pendant.

A familiar warmth spread through her body.

"I think this is where we are supposed to go."

Wei Chen studied the hidden entrance carefully before nodding.

"Then we proceed together."

Beyond the waterfall lay a cavern unlike anything any of them had ever seen.

The moment they entered, the sounds of the outside world disappeared entirely, replaced by a peaceful silence that felt almost sacred.

Massive crystal formations rose from the ground and ceiling like frozen pillars of light, their surfaces glowing with soft shades of emerald, silver, and sapphire.

Streams of crystal-clear water flowed through the cavern floor, reflecting thousands of shimmering lights that danced across the walls like stars.

The deeper they ventured, the more extraordinary the cavern became.

Flowers fashioned entirely from crystal bloomed among the rocks.

Glowing vines wrapped themselves around pillars of jade.

Ancient symbols shimmered faintly across the cavern walls.

Everything felt touched by a power older than the empire itself.

Even General Han Mo, whose life had been spent on battlefields rather than among legends, found himself speechless.

"It feels as though we have stepped into another world."

"No," Yu Lan replied quietly as she gazed around the cavern. "It feels familiar."

Those words surprised even her.

Although she had never visited this place before, every crystal, every glowing flower, and every whisper of energy felt strangely comforting. It was the same feeling she experienced whenever she entered the Garden Eternal within her dreams.

As the group reached the center of the cavern, they discovered a circular chamber illuminated by an enormous crystal suspended above a pool of glowing water. The crystal radiated waves of emerald light that seemed to pulse in harmony with the jade pendant.

The moment Yu Lan stepped forward, the pendant began shining brilliantly.

The cavern responded.

Ancient symbols illuminated across the walls.

Crystal flowers bloomed.

The water beneath the floating crystal began to swirl.

Then a powerful surge of energy erupted throughout the chamber.

A sudden wave of light enveloped Yu Lan completely.

Before Wei Chen could reach her, she found herself standing alone within a vast sea of emerald light.

The chamber had vanished.

The mountains had vanished.

Only the glowing energy remained.

At first, fear threatened to overwhelm her.

Then she heard a familiar voice.

"Do not be afraid."

The Jade Empress appeared before her.

Unlike previous encounters, the ancient spirit seemed brighter and more powerful than ever before.

"The Crystal Cavern recognizes you."

Yu Lan looked around in confusion.

"What is happening?"

The Jade Empress smiled.

"For generations, this sanctuary has protected the power passed down through your bloodline."

A gentle wind carrying countless emerald petals surrounded them.

"The time has come for you to remember who you truly are."

Before Yu Lan could respond, visions began unfolding around her.

She saw countless generations of guardians standing beneath the branches of the Garden Eternal.

She witnessed ancient healers restoring life to wounded warriors with nothing more than a touch of their hands.

She saw vast forests blooming wherever the guardians walked.

She witnessed streams becoming clear, flowers blossoming, and dying trees returning to life.

Most importantly, she saw herself standing among them.

Not as an observer.

But as one of them.

A descendant.

An heir.

A protector.

The final guardian of the Jade Heart.

An overwhelming surge of emotion rushed through her.

For the first time, she understood why nature had always comforted her.

Why flowers seemed to flourish around her.

Why the Jade Garden called to her soul.

The power had been within her all along.

It had merely been sleeping.

Waiting.

As the realization settled within her heart, emerald light burst outward from her body.

Back inside the crystal chamber, Wei Chen, Han Mo, and Mei Xue watched in astonishment as thousands of glowing vines emerged from the cavern floor and began blooming with radiant flowers.

The streams of water sparkled with golden light while crystal blossoms opened across the walls in response to the energy flowing through Yu Lan.

The transformation appeared almost miraculous.

Then something even more extraordinary happened.

A wounded mountain bird, which had fallen near the entrance of the chamber earlier that day, suddenly flew into the room.

The creature's injured wing had been badly damaged.

Yet as it approached Yu Lan, emerald light surrounded it.

Within moments, the injury vanished completely.

The bird spread its wings and soared gracefully through the cavern.

Wei Chen stared in amazement.

"She healed it."

The words barely escaped his lips.

The power flowing through Yu Lan possessed far greater potential than any of them had imagined.

Not only could she communicate with the spiritual energy connected to the Garden Eternal, but she also possessed the ability to heal living creatures and command the forces of nature itself.

Flowers bloomed wherever she walked.

Water responded to her presence.

Even the crystal formations seemed alive beneath her touch.

When the vision finally ended, Yu Lan slowly opened her eyes.

The emerald glow gradually faded, though traces of its power continued to shimmer around her.

She looked down at her hands.

For the first time in her life, everything made sense.

Not every memory had returned.

There were still pieces missing.

Yet she finally understood who she truly was.

The uncertainty that had haunted her since awakening from her coma had begun to disappear.

In its place stood something far stronger.

Purpose.

As Prince Wei Chen approached her, concern and admiration visible within his eyes, Yu Lan felt an unexpected warmth spread through her heart.

Without thinking, she looked at him and smiled.

A genuine smile.

One that felt familiar.

For a brief moment, a memory flashed through her mind—standing beside him beneath falling cherry blossoms while laughter drifted through the evening air.

The image disappeared as quickly as it came.

Yet this time, it left behind something important.

Not confusion.

Not frustration.

Hope.

Because she knew the rest of her memories were still waiting.

And with every step closer to the Jade Heart, she was becoming stronger.

What none of them realized, however, was that deep within the mountains, Lord Xu Feng's scouts had already discovered their location.

The race for the Jade Heart was no longer a distant threat.

It had begun.
