2. On The Back Burner

ON THE BACK BURNER

BISHOP

I look around the clubhouse and see there’s a lot of new trim in here tonight.

If I really wanted to be up to no good, tonight’s the night.

I flash a Cheshire cat grin when a big-breasted brunette smiles in my direction.

I wink at her, but before I move from my seat at the bar, a flash of a large curly afro catches my eye.

I know who it is, and I know I shouldn’t look, but I can’t help myself.

Blue is out there again with those little bitty ass shorts on. Her beautiful round globes are hanging out the bottom just right. I have never wanted to be a piece of fabric so bad in my entire life. I swear that woman is going to cause me to go into an early grave.

Blue keeps tempting me with those shapely legs, smooth dark brown skin, and tits that are the perfect size for my mouth. She stands out in a crowd easily, especially when she wears her afro out in its full glory. Her sultry brown eyes and raspy voice are what dreams are made of.

Blue Grace Anderson is my dream woman. She’s absolutely perfect, except she wants a relationship. I don’t do relationships.

I forget the hot brunette as I try my best not to stare at Blue. When Big Country sits down beside me, I welcome the distraction.

“You look like you’re tryin’ to figure out the meanin’ of life or some shit,” Country says, curiously.

“You know how it goes.” I shrug. “Lots of shit all the time.”

“Ain’t that the truth.” Country nods his head.

We sit, watching the party for a while before Country decides he’s had enough silence. If there’s one thing about the big man, he can talk the ears off an elephant.

“It’s been too quiet around these parts lately. I know there’s somethin’ we can get into. There ain’t a mob boss we can help track down and take out or nothin’?” Country asks seriously.

I shake my head. Anytime someone says it’s too quiet, that’s when all the chaos starts. This big fucker probably just jinxed us.

“Now, you know we don’t say no shit like that out loud. That will guarantee that we’ll be neck deep in some bullshit within twenty-four hours. And that mob shit was just once. You know we had to help my baby girl.

“Oh, I ain’t complainin’, V.P. I loved that shit!” Country smiles widely.

“Well, I don’t wanna hear you say shit when it stops being so quiet around here,” I warn, giving him a sharp look.

“You won’t hear shit from me, V.P.,” Country responds, smiling.

“Yeah, yeah. Go enjoy the new sweet butts with your crazy ass,” I tell him, smiling back

“Say less.” Country nods, heading to the dance floor.

Country’s words remind me of the eerie feeling I’ve been having.

There’s always something goin on, and when it’s too quiet, that means something is brewing.

A few of our law enforcement insiders believe that the Hellhounds might be under investigation.

But we haven’t found anything concrete to suggest any agency is looking into us right now.

It’s actually a surprise they aren’t investigating, because law enforcement has a hard-on for us. They always have and always will. Especially because they can never find any proof of our wrongdoings.

“Hey, V.P. You need a refresh on that drink, darlin’?” A curvy redhead snuggles up to me with a sultry grin, bringing me out of my thoughts.

Hmmm, a cute bunny. I think I can work with this.

“Yeah, darlin’. Tell Tiny to pour me the Van Winkle.” I wink at her, and she giggles.

“Yes, sir. I’ll be right back. The name is Cherry, by the way.” Cherry winks in return before strolling away.

I watch as her ass jiggles with every exaggerated hip sway. I smirk at the thought of pounding into her tight pussy, making that ass shake. I don’t usually go for new chicks because they don’t know the clubhouse rules.

The new girls always want to become an Old Lady before they even know enough about the lifestyle to last a month. They want the title, but they don’t know what comes with it. The bunnies and sweet butts are a good time, but when they start lookin’ for status, I have to drop them.

“Getting to know the new girls, I see.”

I turn slowly toward the smoky voice. I’m already half hard from her whispering in my ear. She is the only woman who can get me goin’ with just the sound of her voice. It’s a damned shame, really.

“Baby Blue. Nice to see you.” I lick my lips at the sight of her.

Nobody in this world fills out a top like Blue. Her tits spill over the red lacy bra, and her glowing brown skin glistens under the light. Her hands are on her rounded hips as she taps the tip of her red cowboy boot against the hardwood floor.

“Are you trying to be funny?” She asks, frowning.

“What? Is Baby Blue not your name? I mean, Blue Senior is your daddy, right?” My grin goes wider at the frustration I see on her face.

“Right. Senior is my daddy, so why not call me junior? Or do you just want to call me baby?” A sneaky grin spreads across her face, and mischief dances in her brown eyes.

I instantly know that I’ve fucked up. Provoking Blue usually results in her staring daggers at me from a distance, or ignoring me completely. However, this reaction is new. She doesn’t look irritated; in fact, she moves closer, her smile growing wider.

I only piss her off so that she stays away from me. Because, truth be told, I can’t seem to stay away from her. I can’t help myself. She says one thing to me, and I’m flirting with her. So, I piss her off to stay on neutral ground.

“I don’t call you junior because you’ve always been Baby Blue.”

“Hmmm. How about this?” Blue bites her lip, running her nail down my chest. “You can call me baby if I can call you daddy.”

“Don’t fucking test me, Blue Grace. I’ll bend your little ass over and fuck you right here just to prove a fuckin’ point,” I growl, getting in her face. We are as close as two people can be without physically touching.

A breathy gasp leaves her lips, and those big, beautiful brown eyes dilate.

Her reaction is the reason I chose to piss her off.

I normally have more patience and can deal with a little sexual tension.

Tonight, though, I don’t want to tease. I want this woman beneath me even though I know I can’t give her the relationship she wants.

“You’ve been threatening me with a proper fuck since forever. I’m sick of your threats, Edward. Either back your shit up, or leave me the fuck alone,” Blue spits the words at me with narrowed eyes and a heaving chest.

She looks so fucking delicious, frustrated and breathless. God help me, I know it’s wrong to want a woman who I can’t promise tomorrow. But I can’t restrain myself. I want her too fuckin’ much, so I snatch her ass up, and as soon as I go to haul her off, we’re interrupted.

Fuck!

“Didn’t mean to interrupt whatever the fuck that was with you and Blue, but we got a problem,” Rock says, walking up the stairs to the conference room.

I knew it had to be something serious because he would never crash a party for some bullshit. We take partying seriously around here. Rock also knows that cockblocking a brother is a dangerous violation. Even if he is the president of our club.

“You didn’t call church, so how big is the problem?” I ask as we settle into our seats.

“I haven’t called church yet. I needed to update the officers first.” Rock sits down and nods to Wire, our information guy.

Wire starts furiously typing on his keyboard, then he pulls up a large screen so that we can see what he’s doing. It takes a minute to recognize what I’m looking at. But when it registers, the pit in my stomach grows.

“Not this motherfucker again!” Stone growls heatedly.

“Those pictures gotta be old, cause I know damned well they didn’t let his ass out.” Black leans in for a better look.

“Nope, not old. They were taken just last night,” Wire responds, clicking away on the keyboard.

“So that fucker Myers finally shows up, and he’s walking Kevin Frazier right out the front door of the fucking prison. Tell me that isn’t true?” I look at Rock, and he nods.

“Unfortunately, brother. That’s exactly what’s happening.”

My gut feelings are never wrong, but I can’t believe after five years of searching fucking high and low, former Detective Steven Myers walks right into one of the largest prisons in Texas and sets free the Hellhounds’ greatest enemy…. Kevin Frazier. The biggest snake I’ve ever dealt with.

THE PAST

“I call this meeting to order.” Rock slams the gavel down to officially begin church. “Snake-eyes, what’s the report?”

“We have a chance to run some guns for a new cartel out of El Paso, the Vasquez family. It’s a sure thing. We stand to make two hundred on the first go,” Snake-eyes, our Road Captain, says with an excited gleam in his gaze.

Murmurs ripple through the members, growing louder and louder until Rock has to call the meeting back to order. The thought of two hundred grand for our club is astonishing. We are only a few years old, and even with my connections through the District Attorney’s office, we aren’t sustainable yet.

We have a long way to go before we can be free to do what we want in the criminal world. We’ve had to do some unsavory shit because we are just starting out, but I have a bad feeling about working with the cartel.

This is my last year in the D.A.’s office before I start my practice, and I’ve heard rumblings about a sting operation. I didn’t have all the information yet because my ATF contacts have been slow on their responses, so I don’t want to make any unnecessary moves.

“I don’t think we should take a risk right now. The streets are talking,” I speak up without hesitation.

“Bullshit! Man, come on! We’ve been playing it safe for five fucking years. We’re an established MC now. We have juice and cred. If we don’t act now, the Street Lords are gonna move in on our shit,” Snake-eyes adamantly declares.

“I say we listen to Bishop. He’s the lawyer. If he says it ain’t safe, then it ain’t safe. We don’t take risks based on what another motherfucka is doin’. It ain’t ever been our way.” Black crosses his arms over his chest, narrowing his dark eyes.

Black and Snake-eyes ain’t ever got along, but for the sake of the brotherhood they stay out of each other’s way. The Street Lords are the same ones that set up his uncle, Blue. His other uncle and one of our founding members, Tree, is doing a bid upstate because of the incident involving them.

It was a mess that our club barely recovered from.

We not only lost Blue and Tree, but my job and reputation were called into question.

They had good reason to suspect me because of all of the illegal shit I’m involved in, but still.

I had to speed up the timeline for opening my firm instead of staying inside the District Attorney’s office.

I would lose more than my D.A. job; I had the inside track with a lot of law enforcement, too.

Because of that insider information, we were able to move more effectively.

But ever since the Street Lord situation, they’ve pushed me aside.

My dual lifestyle hasn’t been entirely blown, but it’s only a matter of time, especially if we do this deal.

“We’ll put it to a vote. All in favor of this new deal, say I.” Rock looks around and counts the brothers who say I.

I count five out of the twenty-five members. Rock looks to me, then to the rest of the officers, for the count. We nod in agreement that we are not working with the cartel.

“Alright, we dead the cartel business. Any other…”

“Just like that? Y’all are gonna miss out on a come up cause this motherfucka is scary?” Snake-eyes looks around, furious.

“You’re the Road Captain, and you know good and damn well how we fucking do things. It’s done!”

I shake my head, coming out of the memory.

Of course, Snake-eyes didn’t take no for an answer.

He went behind the club’s back and tried to make a deal with the cartel.

When his ass got caught, he implicated the club.

It took a lot of maneuvering and some backroom deals to get us out of that shit, but Snake-eyes, I let that motherfucker go to jail.

And he’s been Kevin Frazier since the day he turned on us.

“So how did an ex-detective get a convicted felon out of jail?” Ace questions.

“He’s hooked up with some dirty ass politician. That’s how he got Frazier out. We’ve been tracking their movements, and they’re in El Paso,” Wire replies.

“Looks like we’ll be going on a trip,” Tree says, cracking his knuckles.

It’s about time we lay this shit to rest. The only thing is that I’ll have to put Blue on the back burner once again. Fuck!
