REASONS
BISHOP
I damned near had to fuck Blue for the rest of the night to keep her from questioning me about Brick.
Even though most people would think my ass is too old to be fucking all night.
I must say that it wasn’t a hardship at all.
My dick stayed rock hard. The last time I had marathon sex like that, I was in my twenties.
I work out to stay in shape because I’m a big motherfucker. I eat too much to not hit the gym. Otherwise, my back would be big as hell. Because I stay in shape, I don’t worry about my stamina either. Even though Blue is ten years younger than me, I’m not worried about being able to keep up.
What I am worried about is putting Blue in danger. The only people I worry about in this world are my family. My family means everything to me.
I try not to worry as much about my baby girl these days, though, because she’s married to a mafia don. I trust her husband to keep her safe. But I can’t help but keep an eye on her to make sure his ass ain’t fuckin’ up. However, deep down I know she’s in good hands with Roman Dalonzo.
I know Blue thinks that I didn’t really want her, but that’s not the case at all. I’ve been fighting my feelings for this woman for longer than I care to admit. All of that is behind me now because I’ve tasted heaven, and I ain’t goin’ back.
But this shit with the Vasquez Family Cartel and Frazier has me on guard. We fucked up big time letting Frazier live. Even from prison, he was trying to get his revenge. A few years back, the shit almost worked.
We’ve had so many people trying to infiltrate our club that we had to change our vetting and membership procedures. To become a prospect, a person has to be personally recommended by a brother. We added multiple steps and contingency plans to keep our shit locked tight.
Even though I trust my brothers and we’ve bled for one another, it’s hard for me to get over some betrayals.
That’s why I wasted no time going into the office to do some research. Blue was still asleep when I left. I didn’t want to wake her, so I left her a note before heading out.
Tiny told me Blue didn’t leave the clubhouse until mid-afternoon. I wore her little ass out, so I know she was exhausted. I knew she was off today, so I’ll check in on her later.
I’ve spent most of my day digging into Blue’s stepdad.
I never knew much about the man, even though Carol Anne was married to Blue Sr., who was a founding member of the Hounds.
She made it clear when Blue Sr. died that she didn’t want any part of us.
We watched out for her as much as we could, but she was adamant that we stay away from her.
We couldn’t make her want to be family, so we left her alone.
Carol Anne only tolerated us when Blue was alive, so we thought it was best to follow her wishes.
After she got remarried, it was like she fell off the face of the earth.
Baby Blue only started coming around again after she was grown, and even then she came with her cousins and uncles.
After speaking with Black, I know what kind of man Chauncey Caldwell is. Now I need to know whether his motive for getting Blue involved in his lunacy was intentional. Because from where I’m standing, Chauncey Caldwell is going to be one dead motherfucker.
Before my blood pressure can rise any more, my alarm app chimes on my phone. When I check it, my guard rises instead. I hate people fucking dropping in unannounced. But I especially hate this bitch.
Wire better have a good reason for not warning me her ass was in the vicinity. We were supposed to have eyes on her since she disappeared the first time. I don’t like being caught off guard, and somebody is going to pay for this.
Before I can finish cussing Wire out in my head, my phone buzzes again with another message.
WIRE: Parson incoming in five.
I grunt because he could’ve alerted me sooner, but he did his job, so I can’t be too mad. I make my way out of my office and to the front door. I open it before she can ring the bell. The alarm app is good because it goes off the minute someone steps fifty yards from the front door.
“Agent Parson, funny seeing you here. Coming to give me more cryptic messages?” I ask, raising my eyebrow.
“Are you going to let me in or not? I’m sure you don’t want to be seen talking to me out in the open like this,” Agent Parson says, looking around subtly.
“Hmmm. Maybe it’s you that doesn’t want to be seen talking to me,” I respond, opening the door so she can come in.
This should be an interesting conversation, now that I know more about her.
“I don’t want to hear any more ominous fucking warnings. The last time you were here, you said there were new players in town. Did you mean the Vasquez cartel?” I ask directly.
I don’t have time to beat around the bush. This bitch has one chance to answer my questions honestly, or they will be filing a missing person report on her ass.
“Look, I know you don’t have any reason to trust me…”
“You’re goddamn right I don’t. Now, answer my fucking question.” I narrow my eyes at the skinny blond.
“My partner is undercover right now; he goes by the name Brick…”
“So, you’re just outing your partner? What I want to know is why you think it’s okay to come here and tell me that shit? Are you trying to get him killed?” My ire for this woman is increasing with every word out of her fucking mouth.
She’s definitely a rookie if she is telling a virtual stranger about an undercover agent.
Nobody in their right mind would do some shit like that, especially when she claims she knows so much about me.
She should know that anyone who knows an undercover agent’s true identity could put that agent in danger.
“I’m not trying to get anyone killed. I’m trying to help a fellow agent by any means necessary. Even if that does involve someone like you,” Parson says, eyeing me suspiciously.
“Someone like me, huh?” I shake my head.
“Yes, I know that you’ve been suspected of criminal activity. We just haven’t caught you… yet. But in the meantime, it would be good if you could help us.”
I’m not helping this broad do shit. There’s a reason she’s here spilling all of this information, and I’m not dumb enough to help her with anything. I can tell that she thinks she’s smart, so I’ll let her dig herself a hole too deep to crawl out of.
“I can’t help you with shit.” I cross my arms over my chest.
“Look, since you asked, I’m going to get to the point of why I’m here. The Vasquez Family Cartel is the new player in North Texas. We thought the Hounds may have been working with them, but we found that not to be true after further investigation.”
I don’t say anything as I let her ramble on. I can tell that Agent Parson is very unprofessional. If she doesn’t end up dead, it won’t be long before they fire her. There’s no way her supervisors told her to come here and divulge all of this information.
I haven’t been in contact with my insiders, but I know they didn’t put her up to this.
It’s not how we share information. We have a system, and Agent Parson doesn’t know it.
That’s one of the many reasons why I know not to trust her.
If she knew about our codes, she would’ve used them. Parson ain’t here to be helpful.
“So, you know the Hounds ain’t got shit to do with whatever y’all are investigating. But you keep showing up here anyway?”
“I just overheard some things about you, and I thought that if I got a jump on talking to you, I could get some information and we could help each other out. And my partner, of course.”
“Oh, I understand now. You want to be a hero so you can move up faster.” I nod my head in understanding.
Agent Parson is full of shit, and I knew from the moment she showed up here that Brick wasn’t her partner. She’s just a power-hungry rookie trying to make a name for herself. She will find out the hard way that she’s going about this shit all wrong.
“We all do what’s necessary.” Parson doesn’t deny my observation.
“That we do. And like I said, I can’t help you,” I snarl at the audacious woman
“That’s too bad. I guess you were right… Someone will end up dead.” With those words, she leaves my office.
I know a threat when I hear one. I have to get word to Brick to get the fuck outta there. I’m the reason he even became an agent, and he’s been my insider since the beginning of his career. I refuse to let him die on my watch.
I take my burner phone out and send Brick the code that his cover has been blown.
