16. Things That Go Boom
THINGS THAT GO BOOM
BLUE
I swear Bishop is trying to kill me. He ate my pussy like it had the key to eternal life, then fucked me like I stole something from him. The man is nearly a decade older than me, and I couldn’t keep up.
I’m getting my ass in the gym as soon as possible. It’s ridiculous that I have to beg for mercy every time we have sex. Bishop likes to pretend that he’s old and can’t hang, but he’s like a damn machine when he’s fucking me.
My eyes are closed, and I’m still trying to catch my breath. But I couldn’t be happier. I’m damn near giddy at the idea that Bishop just officially made me his Old Lady.
At first, I didn’t know if I wanted this life. Especially after seeing how mama was when my daddy died. But I won’t deny that Bishop and I have something special. I’ve wanted this man, and now that I have him, I ain’t givin’ him up.
I can still hear the party raging on downstairs, and I have no interest in getting up and going back down there. I’m right where I want to be, even though it seems like I might have to fight these hoes to prove my love.
I know it’s not really about proving my worth to Bishop, but in this life, you will constantly be tested. And it might be crazy to people on the outside for a bunch of women to be seemingly fighting over a man, but that’s just how it is in this world.
Desperate bitches want to be in a place we consider prestigious. Belonging to a family, even if they’re criminals and misfits, is all some of us have ever known. The Hellhounds are a family, and for some, belonging in it means belonging to a brother.
I didn’t have to be an Old Lady to be a part of the Hellhounds family, and maybe that’s why some of these women will always show me contempt. They’ll forever be jealous that I took a place from them that I didn’t want or need to be a Hound.
“You surprised me when you announced that I was your Old Lady,” I say, enjoying the way Bishop caresses my skin as I rest my whole body on top of him.
“You mad?” His deep voice rumbles.
“No, just shocked,” I respond.
There’s no use pretending he hasn’t been running from a relationship for a while now. I thought he’d never pull his head out of his ass. I just knew he would try to keep us a secret until I left him for good.
“Hmmm. No since in pretendin’ you ain’t mine, Baby Blue. Just had to make sure everybody knew it was official is all.” Bishop raises my hand and kisses it.
Bishop saying the sweetest shit after blowing my back out will never get old. He knows just what to say to get my girl purring and me ready for another round. I lift my head up and kiss his lips. He groans, deepening the kiss.
His tongue slips into my mouth, and his hands go to my ass. He grips my bountiful flesh in his massive hands as I grind into him. Bishop lifts me up by my hips, and he’s about to slide inside my clenching heat, but loud bangs erupt from outside.
“What the fuck!” Bishop swiftly moves me off him, then goes to a door I hadn’t noticed before.
I sit up, get off the bed, and look for my clothes. I desperately need a shower, but those bangs were definitely gunshots.
Not even a minute later, Bishop comes out of the little room, pulling on a pair of jeans. His face is set in a mask of fury, and I know shit is about to get real. I finish getting dressed and put on my boots while he slips on a shirt and shoes.
“I need you to go the back way to the basement. Do you still have a code to get in the safe rooms?” Bishop asks, pulling guns out of a dresser and loading them.
“Yeah, I still have the code,” I reply.
I want to pepper Bishop with questions about what the fuck is going on, but it isn’t the time.
If he wants me to get in the safe room, that means someone is trying to get into the clubhouse.
Whoever is crazy enough to try to hit the Hounds on their home turf is dangerous.
There’s no telling what kind of arsenal they have if they are bringing the fight to the Hellhounds’ front door.
“Go now. Shoot anybody that ain’t us. You feel me?” Bishop questions, handing me a gun.
I nod my understanding. He takes my lips in a bruising kiss before hugging me tightly. He looks me in the eyes, and I do my best not to tear up.
“I love you. Stay safe,” he says before leaving out the door.
That I love you felt like goodbye, and I refuse for that to be the case. We just found each other. There’s no way life is that unfair.
Needless to say, when I make it down the stairs and into the safe room, the party is officially over. The clubhouse is a humongous building with all kinds of space. There are rooms I’ve never been in and probably never will.
However, the safe room is one place that I’ve known about since they put it in. The security on the room is top-notch, and if you don’t have a code, then you ain’t gettin’ in. Because I worked in the clinic, I have a code. All of the members can get in, and some of the prospects.
Tonight, though, all of the bunnies, sweet butts, and Old Ladies are in here. I’m glad the room is spacious enough to fit all of us, because there’s no telling how long we’ll be in here. I’m anxious to know what’s going on, but I do my best to keep it together.
I’m sticky, sweaty, and I smell like sex, so the last place I want to be is stuck in here with a bunch of whining ass women. To be in this life, you have to know when to shut the fuck up. That’s why some of these chicks in here will never be part of the family; they don’t know when to be quiet.
“I just came here to have a good time. I didn’t know I was gonna be shot at,” one girl, who I’ve never seen before, cries.
I shake my head, rolling my eyes at her. It’s fine if you want to party, but at least know who the fuck you’re partying with. Going to the middle of nowhere to drink and be wild with people you don’t know is dumb as hell.
“Bitch, did you think this was a frat house? Like, you’re in the Hellhounds clubhouse. Sometimes shooting is part of the experience,” Trixie says, shrugging.
I chuckle because she’s right, but I still don’t like her ass. Even Trixie knows what the fuck is up. If you’re gonna take a chance and come to a place like this, at least be prepared for anything.
“Right, what you thought? This was Kappa Gamma Phi or some shit,” Dee adds, cackling.
It’s crazy how we can all fight like cats and dogs, but at least we know about this life. Women who come around on some tourism type shit irritate the hell out of me. They can get everybody hemmed up. It’s too many criminal activities happening for a random bitch to be here.
“I bet a prospect invited her scary ass,” Cherry says.
It takes about twenty minutes for everyone to chill out and settle down.
The large room that we’re in was made for just these types of occasions.
Large sectional couches, heavy-duty recliners, and even a few twin beds fill one area.
There’s a kitchenette with a fully stocked refrigerator, a small bathroom, and books and magazines spread throughout the space.
There’s only about ten or eleven of us in here, but nobody wants to be stuck in a safe room. After speaking with Dee, I find out that Roxy and Sassy had already left before shit had popped off. I’m sure they’re both in safe rooms at home.
When my phone rings, I’m surprised that I have reception. The signal isn’t strong, but when I see it’s Mama calling, I answer it.
“Hello? Mama, can you hear me?” I say, moving around, trying to get better reception.
“Blue! Plea… help. Chauncey… crazy. I don’t know… wh… I…”
“Mama? Mama?”
The phone cuts out so badly I can’t understand what the hell is going on. I keep screaming into the phone, hoping Mama can hear me, but all I hear is static and crying. I feel helpless.
“Chauncey!” I hear Mama scream.
BOOM!
“Mama!” I scream, but the line has disconnected.
