Chapter 18 Kidnapped on Eve
The day before the wedding, I went to the studio I had booked long ago for a manicure and SPA.
Gu Chao Nan was supposed to accompany me.
But he had some temporary matters to handle.
As I stepped into the elevator, an inexplicable unease settled in my heart.
I was about to call and remind him to be careful.
A ding sounded, and the floor arrived.
I looked up, frozen in shock.
A cloth with a pungent smell covered my mouth and nose.
Everything went black, and I lost consciousness.
I woke up with a splitting headache.
An unfamiliar ceiling came into view.
The sound of the door opening followed.
I sighed silently.
"Wake up?"
"Are you hungry? I'll make your favorite Omelette Rice."
The familiar gentle voice made me daze for a moment.
The clinking of chains brought me back.
I looked at my ankle.
The inside was wrapped in cotton, as if to avoid hurting me.
I tugged at my lips sarcastically.
"Xie Yi Heng, people's preferences change. I stopped liking Omelette Rice long ago."
He had become terribly thin.
Those eyes that always held a soft, spring-like smile were now empty.
Xie Yi Heng stiffened for a moment, then curved his lips.
"It's fine. Whatever you want to eat, I'll make it for you."
Fatigue surged in my heart.
We were supposed to part amicably. Why did it come to this?
"What exactly do you want?"
Xie Yi Heng's voice was very soft.
"I'm just taking back what's mine."
I frowned involuntarily, sensing something off about his state.
"How long do you think you can imprison me?"
"If the bride disappears without reason, won't they call the police? Xie Yi Heng, it's not too late to turn back."
We stared at each other across the space.
Xie Yi Heng suddenly laughed.
"Wen Yu, everything in this world is fake, except you."
"No one can find us."
He approached, knelt on one knee, and looked up at me.
A smile of longing and expectation appeared in his eyes.
"We'll love and stay together here for a lifetime."
My heart nearly stopped.
After a long time, I found my voice.
"What do you know?"
