Chapter 26 #2
“I’m not complaining.” His mouth moved to her neck, nuzzling it gently. “Come on, don’t you want to slip into something more comfortable?”
A moan escaped her as he placed deliberate kisses down her neck. Suckling at the sensitive collarbone. Russ’s dress was one of the most beautiful pieces of clothing she had ever worn, but at that moment, it was her archenemy for keeping his fingers away from her skin.
“All right, but no ripping it. If something happens to this dress, you are paying for it.”
“I would be happy to.”
“Don’t say that until you see the price tag.” She turned her back to him.
Hawk’s fingers brushed against the nape of her neck, unhitching the single clasp. The dress dropped from her body, spooling onto the floor like threads of silver. Lilian bent to pick it up, but Hawk caught her wrist and kept her standing.
“It will wrinkle,” she whimpered.
“I don’t care.”
His eyes were hungry. There was a slight spasm in his fingers as they were ready to tighten the hold if she picked the dress over him.
The decision was easy.
“Aren’t you going to—”
“I want to. but only if you say I can.”
“Hawk.”
“Tell me,” he said again. “Tell me what I can do.”
She tilted her head. This was the man who had no problems giving out orders around the faire. But this entire evening he was ceding power to her. Letting her find him. Letting her set the pace. And ultimately, letting her make the decision on whether she forgave him or not.
This was not a reconciliation between the two of them. This was Hawk still trying to win her back.
He’d laid all his cards on the table. He’d donned the costume, apologized, and declared his love.
Now it was her turn.
“I want you to kiss me,” she whispered.
His lips clamped down against her own. Claiming her. “The bed,” she said. “Carry me to the bed.”
His hands slipped around her waist, fingers dipping into the globes of her ass before he hoisted her up without even a grunt. Automatically, her legs wrapped around his hips as she kept her lips glued to his. The angle allowed them to deepen the embrace. Her tongue plunging into his own.
They were moving, but she wasn’t entirely sure where until his grip disappeared and she was falling. Falling backward onto the world’s softest bed.
Geez, what is this thing made of? Clouds?
There wasn’t any time to check before Hawk was on top of her. His long, lean chest loomed over her naked form like a dark-haired god. Her mouth went utterly dry. The only thing on his body was those boxers, which were tented with a very obvious hard-on.
“Now what?” he asked, voice husky.
Lilian’s fingers reached out to pet the bulge.
Hawk’s next words came out through gritted teeth. “Lilian—fuck, these pants are too tight. I’m going to come right here and now if you keep doing that.”
“Then take them off.”
His eyes flashed. Slowly he pulled away, as if removing himself from her physically hurt him. Lilian lifted herself up on her arms to watch as he peeled off the pants. His dark briefs peeked out first and then his bare cock bobbed into view.
He stepped out of the pants and stood before her, allowing her to take him in. A cool sensation pooled from her stomach down between her legs. She was wet, just at the sight of him.
“Get back over here,” she whispered.
“In a second.” He turned to his discarded clothes, digging threw the piles until he found what he was looking for. The shiny wrapper gleamed in the dim light. A condom. Lilian huffed out a relieved puff of air as Hawk rolled it on his cock.
When the protection was in place, he eagerly jumped onto the bed ready to return to their earlier frenzy.
The mattress bounced, pushing Lilian up and into his arms. Their bodies slotted together perfectly.
It was a sensation she’d missed, the feel of him against her, the way he held on to her like he was willing to shoulder all the world’s hurt to protect her.
Tilting her head down, she pressed a kiss into his hair. The sharp smell of his shampoo was as familiar as his embrace. Hawk nuzzled her breasts, placing loving kisses against the skin before moving lower. Lips against her naval, her hip bone, and then…
“Oh.” Lilian arched as he nestled between her legs. He kissed the inside of her thighs, but nothing else.
His eyes cut up and locked on her. “Tell me you want this. Tell me I can have you.”
“Yes,” she whined, digging her fingers into his hair and moving his head down. “Fuck me with your tongue.”
He didn’t need to hear any more; his tongue was already swiping at her core. Plunging between her folds and licking every inch of her. The sudden fever of the motion made her arch against him.
“God, I might come just from the noises you’re making,” he said.
She twisted his hair in warning. “Don’t. Don’t come yet. When you’re done, I want you inside me.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
She’d never considered herself to be a dominating kind of person in the bedroom.
But she loved that he was listening to her without argument.
To have a man like Hawk, someone who was always so self-assured and in control, bend to her every word meant something to her.
It turned her on more than she would have thought.
“More,” she moaned, and instantly, the feeling of his tongue became more hurried. More aggressive. Her heart began to race. The nerves on the inside of her clit vibrated.
She canted her hips upward and—there!
The orgasm hit her hard and fast, making her entire voice shake along with her body. And through it all Hawk. Kept. Going. Eating her like she was a divine feast.
She pawed weakly at his shoulder. “I’m good. I’m good.”
His grip didn’t let up. “You didn’t say stop.”
A huff of laughter escaped her. “Stop it. I’m ready for you to fuck me. And not like the quickie we had at the faire.” This time, she wanted them to take their time. To enjoy the moment. Just the two of them, in this room, baring themselves to one another in this intimate dance.
When he pulled away, his chin glistened with her juices. “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to hear you say that.”
Lilian smiled and watched as he moved to reposition himself on top of her, when a wicked idea entered her mind. “Wait. You said I’m in charge?”
Hawk froze, confusion darkening his face. “Yes?”
“Then I want you to lie down. Right here. On your back, please.” She scooted over and patted the bed playfully.
Hawk looked dubious, but he moved into place. “I can’t really do what I’m supposed to like this.”
“No, but I can.” She rolled on top of him, her slick opening rubbing deliciously against his cock. They both groaned at the contact.
“I’ve always wanted to try this,” Lilian said, half in awe. There were a million things in her books that she wanted to try. When she met Hawk’s gaze, she could see his eyes were hooded with pleasure. Apparently, she wasn’t the only one.
“By all means.” His hands grabbed at her ass, positioning it as she adjusted her balance. Slowly, she lowered herself on top of him. Their breaths hitched as she sank down on his cock. Her body gave into him easily, stretched and slick from his earlier attention.
Inch by inch, he slid into her. A hot glide that filled her entire body with coals. Sweat glistened along their bodies. When her body hit a point of resistance, she had to pull back before pushing down again.
Hawk was biting his lip, looking pained before she realized he was actively working to not to come. “God, Lilian, you’re driving me crazy.”
“Always have.” She smiled, even though her body was pulsing with volts of electricity. “You still want me?”
He grabbed her hand, lacing their fingers together before bringing it to his lips. “Yes.”
A shuddering breath rocked through her, one not caused by his throbbing erection. Inspired, she began to move her hips a little. Bouncing on him gently. Each shimmy made their connection easier, stronger, before she was flushed against him.
They didn’t move, letting the weight of the moment sit between them.
To Lilian, she couldn’t recall a moment where she’d ever lingered with a man inside her.
But doing so with Hawk felt like a treasure.
She committed it to memory. The way his thumb stroked her hip bone.
How his eyes looked like shadows in the room’s light.
The picture hanging above the bed was an eccentric jazz piece that she might have once called ugly but right now looked like the most beautiful thing in the world.
She would remember it all.
Hawk seemed just as content. He did not urge her to complete what they had started. Instead, he stared up at her like she was… something he’d never seen before.
Guess I surprised him again. The thought sent a thrill through her.
Finally, she moved, and it was like shattering the glass of silence between them. Her body reawakened all at once, remembering what they were doing and why it felt so fucking good. She rolled her hips down against him. The muscles of Hawk’s throat grew taut as he matched her pace.
He’d held off his orgasm for as long as he could, but when it came, it came fast. Her name fell from his lips before she bent forward and claimed them. Pleasure followed in a rushing wave, overtaking her soon after, and they both let it carry them until there was nothing left.
When the moment passed, Lilian rolled off him, but she didn’t go far. Her limbs draped over his torso like a blanket, and Hawk wrapped an arm around her without hesitation. Neither of them ready to let go again.
She kissed his shoulder. The salty taste of sweat lingered on her tongue. “I want you, too, Hawk. I want to watch bad TV with you. I’ll even watch sports as long as it’s with you. I want your advice, and to hear what you thought of The Raven King.”
He laughed, kissing her hair at that.
“What I’m trying to say is… I’ll bite.”
He tensed against her. But she meant the words.
“I want to have a relationship. I am committing myself to you. Your business proposals. Your family even. Because… because I love you.”
There. She’d said it.
He turned to her. The wide-eyed stare told her he hadn’t expected it, but she’d known it since the moment he’d bought her that book in The Pretty Pages. Or maybe it was when he’d gotten her the poisoned turkey leg. Maybe it had been when he’d first walked into Ten Cents Books.
He grinned, and the sight of that smile sealed her resolve. Even more so with the kiss he bestowed on her lips.
This was their fresh start. A new beginning. A new year and season awaited them, and she wanted this man by her side. For all of it.
