Chapter 354 The Secret Behind the Holy Heir

Lucian tapped his fingers lightly against the table, his tone turning thoughtful.

"So, you so-called mystic beasts, even at full strength, couldn't withstand a single strike from that woman once you arrived on Earth."

Noctilion fell silent.

Right.

He reacted almost instantly. "How could Earth possibly have an existence like her?"

No. That was not right.

Even in the other world, someone like Zara should not exist.

The Imperial Clan of the past would not have had someone like that.

The Imperial Clan of today certainly would not either.

And strangely, it felt as if some unknown force had been restraining him from thinking too deeply about that unreasonable fact.

It was not until Lucian reminded him that Noctilion finally realized just how absurd the whole thing was.

Lucian said, "You don't know her identity? She went to your other world last time. The Imperial Clan said she was the child of the previous Holy Sovereign and Holy Consort. They claimed she had been brought to Earth and lost here, and they suspect she may be the Holy Heir."

"Impossible!" Noctilion rejected it without hesitation. "Even if she were the Holy Heir, she would never possess that kind of power."

Then his expression suddenly turned strange. "Unless... the rumor was true?"

Lucian immediately pressed, "What rumor?"

He knew he had made the right move.

The moment he heard that Noctilion had entered some forbidden zone and become a wanted fugitive, Lucian had known this dragon would be useful to him.

Of course, Zara would never have told him these things directly. But her inner thoughts sold information quickly.

In general, creatures who did not play by the rules usually knew hidden secrets.

Noctilion glanced at Lucian. "You ask, and I'm supposed to tell you?"

Lucian gave a soft laugh. "That's fine. But you're in my hands now. With me, you might still have a chance to return to the other world one day. In her hands, sooner or later, you'll lose your life."

He continued calmly, "Do you really think you'll receive the same treatment as Aurelion and the others?

At least they are legitimate mystic beasts from the other world.

But you? She'll hand you over to our world's authorities.

You'll be used for research, locked in a container for the rest of your life, and never see freedom again. "

His voice turned smooth and persuasive. "I'm someone who keeps his word. If you tell me what you know, I'll offer a suitable price in exchange. I'm a businessman. I understand rules."

Noctilion fell silent.

He had to admit that no matter how clever he was, he was still a country bumpkin when it came to Earth. He did not understand the complexity of the current situation.

After Lucian said all that, Noctilion felt tempted.

Still, he remained wary. "What exactly is your relationship with that woman?"

The way they spoke to each other seemed too natural. Clearly, their relationship was not ordinary.

Lucian answered smoothly, "Because of certain reasons, we are cooperating for now. But don't worry, it has nothing to do with the other world. Our world has its own rules too. In other matters, you can rest assured."

He paused, then added, "In other words, even if I have a connection with her, it won't prevent me from making a deal with you. When the time comes, I may even be able to give you a legitimate way to exist in this world."

Noctilion was moved. After a brief inner struggle, he thought it over and finally said, "Fine. I'll tell you a few things."

He knew it would be useless to make Lucian promise anything right now. After all, Noctilion did not have a proper bargaining chip to threaten him with.

But he could choose to reveal only half of what he knew and hold back the other half.

Once Lucian fulfilled his end of the deal, Noctilion could decide whether to tell him the rest.

Of course, whether he actually would say anything after gaining freedom was another matter entirely.

After weighing it for a moment, Noctilion began, "Back then, I happened to hear a few rumors. The previous Holy Sovereign and Holy Consort did not go to Earth first to explore it."

He lifted his eyes slightly. "They fled the other world because they had stolen the Imperial Clan's treasure, something that had been passed down for thousands of years."

Lucian had only heard bits and pieces about this matter before.

He raised an eyebrow.

It seemed things were far more interesting than he had imagined.

Noctilion continued, "Valerius Imperius, the current ruler of the Imperial Clan, has been doing everything possible to retrieve the Imperial Clan's sacred treasure. Not your so-called Holy Heir."

He bared his teeth in a grin. "Now there's an explanation for why the Holy Heir's power is so terrifying. It must have something to do with that treasure."

Lucian asked, "What kind of treasure is it?"

Noctilion shook his head. "How would I know?

The Imperial Clan has countless treasures, and plenty of them were enough to make even me jealous, let alone their sacred treasure.

According to rumor, aside from the Holy Sovereign who inherits the throne, no one knows what that treasure actually is.

It's basically the core inheritance of the Imperial Clan, not something outsiders can learn about casually. "

Lucian thought for a moment.

Based on everything he had gathered from listening to Zara's inner thoughts over and over again, Zara definitely did not know what the treasure was.

She probably did not even know such a treasure existed.

If that woman had some priceless treasure on her, could she possibly hide it?

From the look of it, if the treasure truly existed, then the Holy Sovereign and Holy Consort back then must have used it directly on Zara.

So, did the sacred treasure equal supreme power?

But using something of that level would surely come with a price. Lucian suspected a treasure of that rank would have some kind of side effect.

Unfortunately, there were too few clues. For something at this level, even learning a little was already difficult.

But all of this was based on the assumption that Zara truly was the Holy Heir.

If she was not...

Then the entire deduction would be wrong.

Seeing Lucian deep in thought, Noctilion could not help asking, "What are you thinking about?"

Lucian glanced at him. "Nothing. The information you exchanged was decent. Barely satisfactory."

He continued, "If you have any requests, you can make them. For now, you can only stay here. You're not allowed to go anywhere. After all, this is for your own safety too. If something happens, call me."

He pointed at a phone on the table beside Noctilion. "Press one. It'll connect directly to my phone. Only use it for emergencies."

Noctilion was silent for a moment.

Fine, then.
