Chapter 357 Masons Ugly Heart

This whole thing was truly strange.

Lucian made a mental note of it. He was also certain that his parents had never mentioned anything like this when he was a child.

Naturally, the rest of the Martin family knew even less.

Back then, Lucian's parents had not been married for very long, and they had not lived with the rest of the family. So, the others did not really know much about Lucian's early childhood.

It was only after the Martin family went through a major upheaval that everyone began living together, and Robert had mainly been the one who raised Lucian afterward.

After Great-Grandma finished speaking with them, she could not hold up much longer because of her age, so someone wheeled her away to rest.

Once she left, Zara clicked her tongue and sighed. "Lucian, who would've thought? Your childhood was pretty dramatic too. Unlike me. I barely got sick when I was little. Ah, I never even got to experience the troubles of being frail and sickly. What a shame."

Lucian gave a cold laugh. "That's because you're not human. How can you compare yourself to ordinary people like us?"

Zara froze. "Why are you insulting me?"

[You're the one who isn't human. Your whole family isn't human!]

Lucian fell silent.

Did she really not have any self-awareness about whether she was human or not?

Still, he found the matter of his childhood deeply strange. He had never heard his parents mention it, so why had things turned out this way?

Great-Grandma was already very old. Even if he asked her more questions, he might not get many useful answers. So Lucian immediately arranged for people to investigate.

If he really had been frail and sickly as a child, then what kind of master could have been so powerful that they had directly improved his health?

On top of that, his parents had died in a car accident when he was still young. That had always been a knot in his heart.

Now that these clues were being connected, he was afraid their deaths might not have been an accident after all.

Meanwhile, Mike called Zara outside.

In a low voice, he asked her, "How are things between you and Lucian now?"

Zara paused. "...Pretty good. Why?"

Mike said, "You must never let him know that we were the ones who brought you in. I'm afraid it might upset Lucian if he finds out."

Zara fell silent.

Do you know all my disguises have already fallen off?

Of course, she did not say that out loud. She only smiled sweetly. "Sure. I definitely won't tell him."

Mike nodded.

In truth, he was thinking that if there really was no other way, maybe they should just let Zara stay with Lucian for good.

He simply did not know how his nephew would react when he eventually learned the truth.

Mason, however, was not willing to let things stay peaceful.

After Mike finished speaking with Zara, Mason came over to stir up trouble. He looked at Zara provocatively and launched another personal attack.

"Zara, I'm telling you, with your background, you will never be allowed through the doors of the Martin family.

Just listen to what Great-Grandma said today and forget about it.

Do you really think we'll let you marry Lucian?

My cousin has lost his memory, but we haven't.

Don't start dreaming about things that don't belong to you. "

Zara fell silent.

Beside her, Robert immediately lost his temper. "Zara, hit him! Tell him I said so!"

The other spirits fell silent.

Uncle Robert had completely lost his mind.

Zara lifted her chin and put her hands on her hips. "You think I actually want to marry into the Martin family? Let me tell you, I have never had that kind of thought—"

"You don't want to marry me?"

Lucian's voice suddenly came from behind her.

Zara turned around.

[What the hell? Why didn't I sense him coming?]

Lucian, however, completely ignored her shock. Instead, he revealed an expression of deep disappointment and sorrow. "So you were never willing to marry me? Was I the only one who misunderstood everything all this time?"

Mason could not help gloating. "See, Lucian? Now you finally know this woman's true face!"

Zara stared at Lucian.

[What the hell are you acting for? Weren't you the one who said yesterday that you didn't like me?]

However, Lucian had clearly been trained by everything that had happened recently.

He had become a true expert.

The disappointment on his face looked so real that anyone who did not know the truth might genuinely think he was deeply in love with Zara.

"I thought you really loved me..."

His expression was so heartbroken that it could make listeners grieve and onlookers weep.

Mason spoke in a pained, disappointed tone, as if furious that Lucian refused to learn. "Lucian, now do you understand what kind of woman she really is?"

Zara fell silent.

What do you know, you idiot?

Lucian looked at Zara. "I'm so disappointed in you."

After saying that, he turned and walked away.

At a time like this, how was Zara supposed to react?

She immediately cried out, "Lucian, no! Lucian! Honey, listen to me! Let me explain!"

Then she chased after him.

Behind them, Mason shouted, "Your true colors have been exposed!"

Zara was silent for a moment.

Just wait, you idiot. I'll deal with you when I come back.

The spirits were left completely confused.

"...Are they serious?"

"Lucian did look genuinely hurt."

"Uncle Robert, was your nephew really angry?"

Robert hesitated. "No... right?"

What exactly was going on?

Had his nephew really been angered?

Robert suddenly felt a little uncertain too. Hadn't his nephew said he did not like Zara?
