Chapter 358 Josephs Test
Zara was fast, so she caught up with Lucian almost immediately.
The moment she reached him, she pinched his arm hard. "Are you insane? You're making people misunderstand our relationship even more. There's nothing between us to begin with, and now you're acting like we actually have something going on."
Lucian hissed in pain from her pinch. He opened his fingers and tried to grab Zara's chin, but Zara dodged quickly, so he missed.
"You really are a vicious woman," he said, glaring at her. "I was cooperating with your act. This makes it easier for them to believe I've truly developed feelings for you."
Zara asked, "But won't they just think your taste is terrible and assume you've really gone insane?"
Lucian fell silent.
Zara fell silent too.
Only after the words left her mouth did she realize something was wrong.
Lucian looked at her in shock. "You tried to insult me and somehow hit yourself harder."
Sometimes, Zara really did seem shameless enough to survive anything. But now it seemed she was also terrifyingly good at insulting herself.
Zara froze.
[Damn it!]
She lunged at Lucian again, and Lucian immediately started running ahead. "I'm not the one who said it! You insulted yourself!"
"People slip up sometimes, you useless man!"
The spirits who had caught up from behind watched the two of them chasing each other down the hospital corridor.
Nicola fell silent. "Your nephew doesn't look like a CEO at all."
Monica added, "More like the spoiled idiot son of a rich family."
Robert was speechless.
He stared at his nephew, whose image had completely collapsed in front of him, and felt even more shaken.
The Lucian of the past had always walked with an intimidating air.
But now...
He was still that same CEO.
It was just that whenever he faced Zara, he could not help doing things completely unsuited to his identity.
Perhaps he had been led astray.
Robert thought for a moment and said, "...Let's look on the bright side. What if they really get married one day?"
Nicola immediately perked up. "Then Boss Lady Zara will inherit everything. That would be wonderful."
Robert stared at her. "...Are you even human?"
Nicola answered cheerfully, "Of course I'm not human anymore!"
All the spirits fell silent.
Dylan soon came to the hospital to visit Lucian as well. Of course, Joseph was with him, as always.
Lucian already knew there was something wrong with Joseph, but he still acted as if nothing had happened. Joseph was no fool either. If Joseph noticed anything unusual in Lucian's behavior, things between the friends would become very difficult to handle.
Of course, Lucian still did not know whether Joseph had always been this Joseph and had only recently been replaced, or whether he had been switched out long ago.
Those were two completely different possibilities.
Because Great-Grandma was staying in the hospital too, and because Lucian was sick, Zara could not find a good excuse to leave.
When Joseph and Dylan came to visit, Zara was sitting nearby playing a game.
Dylan and Joseph first expressed their concern and greetings to Lucian. Then Dylan glanced at Zara, who was sitting off to the side, clearly enjoying her game far too much.
He could not help saying, "Zara, Lucian is sick right now. Shouldn't you be showing him a little more concern?"
What was she doing playing a game?
If any other woman had the honor of staying by Lucian's side, she would probably want to watch over him twenty-four hours a day. How could she still have the mood to play games?
Zara said, "Don't panic. Let me take out that damn Teemo on the other team first, then I'll talk to you!"
Dylan fell silent.
Lucian's mouth twitched. Then he looked at Dylan with a fragile expression. "You get used to it."
He looked like someone who had endured this for a very long time.
Dylan was speechless.
Lucian still had not dumped this woman? Had she put some kind of curse on him?
Joseph, meanwhile, silently observed both Zara and Lucian.
Then he curled his lips into a faint smile.
"Lucian, have you seen all the things happening online recently?
The country seems to have discovered some new technology.
Your company's main business is related to the internet, and it should have some connection to holographic technology too, right?
Did you not hear anything about it beforehand? "
Joseph, of course, knew Noctilion had come over.
But now he had brought it up deliberately to test Lucian.
On the surface, the question sounded natural enough. Between friends, it did not seem particularly strange.
Lucian answered lightly, "I've heard a little. Our company is also researching related areas. But it's all internal confidential information, so it's not really convenient for me to talk about it. You understand, right?"
It was classified information. Even if he knew something as the company president, he could not casually disclose it to others.
Joseph smiled.
Dylan said directly, "We understand. It's just too sudden. The country never released any news about this before, and now holographic technology is suddenly here. Ah, the development of technology really changes by the day!"
Zara fell silent.
Maybe she should introduce him to Wilson. Those two idiots might actually find common ground.
Lucian felt that Dylan's intelligence was basically starting to lean toward Zara's level.
Joseph clearly was not willing to let the topic end there. So he brought up something else. "Actually, I know a little something most people don't."
"Oh?" Lucian raised an eyebrow and looked at him, as if surprised. "Joseph, what do you know?"
Dylan also turned toward Joseph. "What do you know? Wait, you did spend a long time in the guard forces. Is there something else going on?"
Joseph nodded.
Then he actually said it directly. "You may not believe this, but some things aren't as simple as they seem.
It's possible... that we've already discovered that this world, or rather what scientists call a different dimension, truly exists.
Right now, it seems traces of another world have been found. "
Dylan, "..."
Lucian, "..." Tsk.
Zara, "..."
