Chapter 395 Vivian and Her Son
Zara received a call from someone she had not heard from in quite a while.
Vivian.
"Where have you been lately? I called you several times, but I couldn't reach you."
Vivian's voice was as gentle as ever, but it sounded subdued, with a faint note of displeasure.
Zara remembered that she had been in the Divine World, where phone calls obviously could not reach her.
"Nowhere. I had some business to deal with in a remote area, and the signal was terrible. That's why I wasn't reachable. So, Miss Vivian, what do you need?"
Vivian got straight to the point. "I want Enoch to appear on a reality show."
Zara stared in disbelief. "Have you lost your mind, or have Spencer and the others lost theirs?"
"This is for Enoch's own good," Vivian replied.
This time, she explained herself clearly.
"I've already revealed that he's my son, but the media and paparazzi still won't leave him alone. No matter how hard I try to protect him, students at his school keep leaking information about him, and some of the speculation online has been vicious."
Vivian added, "I know what you're worried about, but Enoch is different. If he appears on a show with me, people will see what he's really like. With his personality, he'll win them over. That might actually make things easier for him."
Vivian continued, "Don't worry. I'm not trying to push him into show business.
I just want to give him a chance to show people who he really is, so they won't be so hostile toward him.
Spencer and the others have already agreed, and the show's producers are currently discussing the details with us. "
Zara paused. "But if you've all agreed, then go ahead. Why are you calling me?"
"The show requires Enoch and me to travel abroad," Vivian said.
"You know he isn't particularly close to me, so I'd like you to come with us.
Do you have time? It will only last a month.
I won't ask you to work for free. I'll pay you a hundred thousand dollars, and you won't have to stay by his side every day. "
Zara's eyes lit up.
A hundred thousand dollars was no longer a significant amount of money to her, but she had to admit that the offer was still tempting.
It was a pretty good deal, especially since she would not have to watch him around the clock.
Besides, if Vivian truly believed this would help Enoch, then going along to keep an eye on him would be worthwhile.
Ever since revealing Enoch's identity, Vivian had stopped trying to hide from the situation. The damage had already been done after all this time.
In a later interview, she had briefly explained that Enoch's birth had been unplanned and admitted that she had failed to fulfill her responsibilities as his mother. Other than that, she had declined to answer any further questions.
Appearing on the show was also her way of addressing the situation more openly and helping the public understand them better.
Zara agreed.
Not long afterward, however, she received another unexpected piece of news.
After Lucian's company signed Karen, they immediately arranged her first job.
She would be appearing on a reality show.
The exact same one Vivian and Enoch were joining.
Zara was baffled.
Money truly was a superpower in Lucian's hands, but even for him, this seemed a little excessive.
Any show capable of booking Vivian was bound to be a major production. The cast included several young celebrities and a number of veteran entertainers, all of them widely known.
Aside from Vivian and Enoch as the show's mother-and-son pair, the veteran performers were highly respected figures in the entertainment industry, while the younger cast members were some of the hottest rising heartthrobs around.
And then there was Karen, a food livestreamer...
How had Lucian even managed to get her onto the cast?
Zara thought sending a food streamer onto such a high-profile reality show was completely unnecessary.
But when she brought it up with Lucian, he simply said, "The publicity team will handle it.
She doesn't need to stay chained to her livestream all day.
The show will raise her profile, and once she becomes better known, her workload can be much lighter. "
Since Zara would be going along anyway, she decided not to object.
But the trip would last an entire month.
If she took Karen with her, would that not leave Soraya home alone?
The thought gave Zara an immediate headache.
What a mess.
Then something occurred to her.
Wait.
Wasn't Owen around?
After Zara settled everything with Lucian, she began preparing for the reality show.
Karen ultimately did not make the cast.
After some consideration, the production team realized her appetite posed a genuine problem. If they failed to provide enough food, she might actually starve. At the last minute, she was reassigned to a smaller food show instead.
The guests there were not nearly as famous, but as long as the show kept her fed, that was all that mattered.
Vivian moved quickly. She told Zara where they were going and what she needed to prepare.
Their first destination was a small country in Asia that Zara had never heard of, though it was apparently a wonderful place to visit.
Vivian's show was called Journeys of a Lifetime. It followed a group of people from different generations and walks of life as they traveled together and dealt with whatever happened along the way.
In other words, it was the kind of reality show currently in vogue.
The concept itself was nothing particularly original, but every member of the cast was a major draw.
Vivian appearing with her son was especially explosive. The show would not need manufactured drama or aggressive promotion. Curiosity alone would be enough to draw an audience.
Very little about Vivian's son had been reported in the media so far. The public only knew that he studied philosophy at Magior University and was rumored to be the most handsome guy in his department.
Of course, with a mother as beautiful as Vivian, it was hardly surprising that her son was good-looking too.
Once news spread that the son of a major celebrity would be joining the show, online interest began building almost immediately.
