Chapter Eleven.
Falcon
Steel had a death wish. He kept flirting with Myka, but she became uncomfortable. Steel caught on pretty quickly and toned it down to Myka’s evident relief. Women usually fell for his accent, which remained strong even after all these years. English fucker.
Myka looked to me for help, and I sent him a warning glare which, luckily, Steel paid attention to. Injured shoulder or not, I’d have beaten his ass.
I caught sight of Diego jogging towards Calamity and bending down to whisper in his ear. Calamity sat up, caught my eye, and nodded towards the pool.
“Texas, can you swim with Jayes? Keep him on laps to build up his core strength,” I called. Texas cast a glance over at Calamity and Diego before nodding. I pulled myself out and crossed to Calamity.
“We’ve got Beauregards at the gates,” Calamity murmured. “They’re demanding to speak to Myka.”
“Tell ‘em to get fucked,” I replied, and Diego snorted and began turning away.
“Nah. We’re gonna give them a show,” Calamity said. “Savage, Gauntlet, Ghost, Klutz, Hunter, Steel, Fragment, Priest—on me. Inform Myka and wheel her down.”
“Okay.”
Myka was looking at me, biting her lip, and despite the fading bruises, she looked gorgeous, although terrified. “What’s wrong?”
“Beauregards at the gate. They wanna speak to you. Don’t worry, you’re going to be surrounded by brothers. Calamity isn’t taking a risk.”
Myka shrank back, showing a mixture of emotions. “Dawson?” Crap, the terror in her voice was clear.
“If it is, Dawson’s gonna get jumped, and we’ll take care of him. You won’t be failed again. Fuck the cops,” I drawled. My words were enough to shock Myka out of her fear.
“Okay,” she whispered. I squeezed her shoulder and took the handles of the wheelchair.
“We’re right beside you, so tell them to piss off, and then we can get back to partying,” I ordered. Myka reached up and grabbed my hand. Gripping it tightly, Myka seemed to pull strength from me and then composed herself.
“Let’s go.” Damn, I wanted to crow; she was so brave.
Myka
I was freaking terrified. As we approached the gate, I could see seven people there. Wanda-Faye and Billy-Ray were at the front. Behind them stood Billy-Ray’s brothers, JimBob and Bobby-Joe. With them were JimBob’s sons, Merle, Hoyt, and Harlan. I quickly informed everyone of who each person was.
“Christ, the bad version of the Clampetts have come down from the mountain,” Ghost muttered, and several of his brothers chuckled.
“How many of them in total?” Calamity asked.
“Too many. There are cousins, uncles, aunts, about seventy, not including those locked up. At any given time, there’s usually about twenty in prison.”
“Holy crap, all inbred?” Hunter gasped, and they laughed again.
“God knows,” I replied.
We stopped at the gate as Beauregards glared through the bars.
“Bet that’s a view they’re used to,” Gauntlet quipped.
“Gonna keep us on the outside?” Wanda-Faye demanded, choosing to ignore the remark.
“Ain’t got any reason to invite you inside. You sure ain’t friendly neighbours,” Calamity retorted. Wanda-Faye sneered and addressed Ghost.
“Well?”
“The President said no,” Ghost replied.
Wanda-Faye frowned. That had confused her. She didn’t have book smarts, but she was as mean and clever as a rattlesnake. “Ain’t talking to no kid.”
“Then you don’t talk to anyone,” Calamity growled. He snapped his fingers, and I felt the surprise from the others. But none reacted. Calamity was acting on a level that Wanda-Faye would understand. Everyone turned around, and we began walking back.
“Oi. We want Myka and the boy. She needs to be with family,” Wanda-Faye called. Nobody answered. I tensed, and Falcon rested his hand on my shoulder again.
“Hey!” Wanda-Faye shouted, but Calamity kept ignoring her. “Alright, Mr President.”
Calamity stopped and turned back. “Now that I like. Mister President. Don’t forget that, woman,” he retorted, and I barely covered my surprise.
“Oh, Calamity knows how to handle these people,” Falcon murmured. “Just watch.”
“Myka and the kid gotta return to the bosom of their family,” Wanda-Faye stated.
“Not happening.”
“You can’t say no! Myka’s confused and needs help,” Wanda-Faye replied. She glanced at me and jeered.
“I said no. You deaf?”
“Ain’t no need to be rude. We’re gonna take Myka home, correct her lies and behaviour,” Billy-Ray slurred.
“Think Myka’s had enough of your correction. No man should beat women,” Calamity sneered. “There are better ways of handling women.”
“Look here—”
“Mr President,” Calamity interrupted Wanda-Faye. Her eyes narrowed, and Calamity smiled nastily.
“Myka has to pull the statement; she’s gonna get my boys into trouble,” Wanda-Faye snapped.
“Mr President,” Calamity repeated.
“Mr President,” Wanda-Faye ground out. Oh, hell, this was becoming funny. Wanda-Faye had met someone she couldn’t make cower.
“Yeah. Ain’t happening. One of my men has taken a liking to her. Now, I’m not gonna disappoint them. And your three sons beat the shit out of a defenceless woman.”
“My boys were correcting Myka’s deviant behaviour,” Wanda-Faye retorted.
Calamity cocked an eyebrow.
“Mr President,” Wanda-Faye ground out. Her eyes flicked over the bare chests on display, and Wanda-Faye inadvertently licked her lips. Oh gross.
“Which was?”
“What?”
“What was Myka’s deviant behaviour?” Calamity demanded.
“I…” Wanda-Faye stumbled. “Myka can talk for herself!”
“Not without my permission. Now I want to know what Myka did that led to three grown men, twice her size, nearly beating her to death.” Calamity folded her arms.
Wanda-Faye glanced at Billy-Rae, who was staring at me with lust in his eyes.
“Jesus Christ,” Falcon whispered in disgust. He’d caught it.
“Bitch back chatted her man and didn’t show enough respect. Look at her, enticing my husband,” Wanda-Faye said.
“Like you, then. You keep dropping my title and making demands; that’s disrespectful.
And Myka’s sitting in a chair beaten black and blue, and you think she’s flirting with your trash husband?
Get real. Why would Myka want him when she can have one of my brothers?
” Calamity nodded to Rodrigo. The gates opened, and they all stepped back.
“Grab her,” Calamity ordered.
“What?” Wanda-Faye shrieked.
“You showed disrespect; three of mine are gonna beat the crap out of you.”
“But I’m female!” Wanda-Faye yelled.
“So is Myka. Take her!” Ghost, Hunter, and Steel moved quickly and grabbed Wanda-Faye.
Her family didn’t even react. The rest of the brothers stood in front of them as she was dragged towards us.
Wanda-Faye began mouthing off, and casually Ghost slapped her face.
She gaped in shock. I barely held my emotions in.
“Ghost pulled the blow, Myka. Trust me, he hasn’t hurt her, just surprised her,” Falcon muttered. I was tense as I stared at the ground.
“Women should be seen and not heard. Now, which of you spineless cunts are gonna deal with my President?” Ghost rumbled.
“Let my woman go,” Billy-Ray finally spoke up.
“Hear this asshole. Myka and the boy are ours. You want to go to war, you’ll regret it.
I’m feeling generous; my woman’s gonna blow me later.
Take your hag and get off Rage land. Forget Myka and the kid exist. She won’t pull the statement.
If you’d raised decent men, they wouldn’t be in this position,” Calamity said.
“Don’t you agree, Billy-Ray! That bitch needs to be taught a lesson!” Wanda-Faye yelled. Ghost slapped her again, harder, and Hunter got into her face, and she quailed at his expression.
“We’ve gotta let Myka go?” he rumbled. “Bitch thinks it’s okay for three men to beat a woman. I wanna see if she still agrees after we’ve done with her. Some of my tools need breaking in.”
“You can’t do that!” Wanda-Faye shrieked.
“Yeah, we can. You said yourself that if a female is deviant, she gets a beating. We saw the looks you gave us. Bet your dried-up cunt creamed itself at all the prime flesh on display here. Better than that flaccid dick you married,” Calamity snapped crudely. I was shocked.
Wanda-Faye wisely shut her mouth. Calamity nodded to Ghost, and he grabbed her around the neck and shoved her into her relatives.
“Leave now or face the repercussions,” Calamity warned.
Diego, Rodrigo, Anchor, and Nightmare stepped out holding guns on the Beauregards. Their eyes widened, and Wanda-Faye sneered. Back amongst her kind, Wanda-Faye grew balls again.
“This isn’t over.”
“It will be because Rage MC don’t take prisoners,” Calamity said, and Nightmare fired a bullet into the dirt at Wanda-Faye’s feet. She squealed, and then they fled.
“Nice to see you’ve still got the trailer trash in you,” Rosie stated, stepping out from behind the guard hut holding her own gun.
“I hate talking like that,” Calamity replied as he walked into her arms and kissed her forehead.
“It’s the only language they would understand. We all know you don’t think or act like that,” Falcon agreed.
I was still unsure how I felt about watching Ghost slap Wanda-Faye when he stepped in front of me and crouched down.
“I don’t harm women, not decent ones, Myka.
That creature was trash; I gave her a light tap.
That was all. I’m no woman-beater, and I’d rather slit my own throat than hurt an innocent female. ”
I held his gaze and searched Ghost’s face. There was regret there for scaring me and truthfulness. Slowly I nodded and offered a weak smile. Ghost smiled in return and touched my hand briefly.
“We’d better get back because Texas will have riled the kids up,” Calamity said as the gates rolled shut.
Groans met his statement.
As Falcon pushed the chair, I tried to figure out what had happened.
One of Calamity’s brothers liked me? Had that been true?
If so, which one? I glanced up at Falcon, and he grinned at me.
Could it possibly be him? How would I react if it were?
What an idea. Falcon couldn’t be interested in me.
I was used and battered goods. Not good enough for him.
