Chapter Twelve.

Falcon

Myka’s cheeks were flushed, and her eyes glistened with joy.

I’d had a feeling she’d love riding, and I’d been right.

Inwardly, I crowed. I’d not taken Myka far, and even this short journey would make her ache later.

Usually, I’d suggest a bath with Epsom salts, but that might prove difficult with her arm and leg in casts.

When we returned to the compound, Cates’ police vehicle was there. Now what?

Luca heard us return and came outside as Rafe and Shelby opened the gates. I nodded and parked up, and Myka made a small noise of discontent. Luca lifted Myka off without warning, not giving her a chance to stiffen up, and carefully placed her in her wheelchair.

“Enjoy that?” Luca asked with a smile, and I snarled. Luca flinched back, and my message was received.

“You can quit that shit,” Myka ordered, and I glanced down in surprise. Riding my hog had given her balls!

Happily, I grinned and began pushing her chair away.

“Sorry, Luca, he’s acting like an ass,” Myka continued, and I growled.

“Don’t apologise for me!”

“Then stop being an idiot!”

Luca shook his head and walked ahead while we argued over opening the door. I passed him and offered Luca a cold stare. Myka was off-limits.

Luca gave a small nod, understanding my silent threat.

Calamity, Steel, and Glitch looked toward us as we came in. Cates stood with them.

“What the fuck has happened now?” I demanded.

“Wanda-Faye has reported Rawson, Dawson, and Lawson missing,” Cates answered.

“Not Jed?” Myka asked.

“No, that little shit has wandered home. He left town with some friends. Claims he knows nothing about where his dad and uncles are,” Cates replied.

“Do you believe him?” I folded my arms.

“No. I suspect they have holed up somewhere, and this is another of their games.” Cates didn’t look too amused.

Couldn’t blame her; the Beauregards were pissing me off too.

“All three are evading arrest. The DNA results have come back. All three of their DNA was on Myka’s body.

I sent deputies up there today, and they returned empty-handed.

An hour later, Wanda-Faye walks in and makes three missing person reports. ”

“What are they trying to gain?” Calamity asked.

“Me,” Myka spoke up. “They aim to make me rescind the statement. Falcon, I won’t do that. Elianna, I won’t go back!”

“Hey,” I said, squeezing Myka’s shoulder. “Nobody’s pressuring you to.”

“Myka, I’m only here to inform you that your husband has been declared missing.”

“Soon-to-be ex-husband. What do you think their play is?” I asked.

“I don’t know. It’s hard to tell with them. Beauregards might not have educations, but they are cunning and sneaky. We’ll have to wait them out. I think they’re planning to go after Jayes,” Cates replied.

Both Myka and I stiffened.

“Well, I’d die before they get their hands on my boy,” Myka hissed, turning all mama lion.

“It won’t come to that,” I promised, and Cates glanced at me. Myka reached up and grasped my hand, and approval flashed in her eyes.

“Stay smart and alert. I’ll keep you updated,” Cates said and took her leave.

Rosie

Afternoon off, round two. Jess’s spiteful gossiping hadn’t ceased, and we planned to make another point.

People like Jess never learned. Natalie was about to get a further huge sale.

This time we were buying Christmas presents for Rage MC.

Considering how many there were of them, I hoped Natalie had the stock in.

We marched past the Bath and Body Shop and paused, glancing in through her window. All of us sneered and then crossed the road towards Moon Showers.

“Why aren’t we shopping there?” Myka asked.

Demi was pushing her in the wheelchair, and it had been a struggle to get her out.

One week had passed since Myka had been at the clubhouse, and while her bruises had faded a lot, some were still present.

Myka hesitated to go out for several reasons—namely the bruising, gossip, running into the Beauregards, and sheer nerves.

“One, it’s not open because of the fire and her stock got ruined. And two, that bitch believes we’re criminals and whores,” I answered, and Myka’s eyes widened in shock.

“What?”

“Because we wear property cuts, we sleep with every guy in the club, according to Jess,” Oakley hissed.

“God, I hate judgmental cunts,” Demi chipped in.

“Wow. Okay,” Myka muttered as we kept her encircled amongst us. Trailing behind were four prospects: Leo, Elijah, Liam, and Felix. Neither seemed pleased to be here, and it tickled me. Prospects hated old lady duty. We reached Moon Showers and entered the store, still gossiping loudly.

Natalie glanced up and beamed. “Hey, how are you today?”

“We’re here to shop!” I stated, and Natalie laughed.

“I’ve only just restocked from your last spree! Be my guest!” Natalie spread her arms wide and smiled. She’d soon regret that—we were in a serious shopping mood.

Myka

Holy crap. I sat wide-eyed as the old ladies went nuts.

They were crazy. I envied them for how they picked items up and never once viewed the price.

It must be nice to do that—not to have to worry about money.

I couldn’t remember a time when I hadn’t had worries.

Even before Dawson, money had been a struggle.

“Why aren’t you buying anything?” Rosie stopped and asked.

Embarrassed, I blushed red, and understanding lit Rosie’s eyes. “Honey, Falcon gave me his card so you could have a splurge.”

“I know.”

“So, why aren’t you shopping?”

“Because it’s his money, not mine.” I shook my head, my embarrassment deepening.

Rosie didn’t bother arguing, yanked out her cell, and dialled a number. “Falcon. Myka isn’t behaving.”

“Hey!” I shouted.

“Nope and nope… okay.”

Rosie hit the screen and turned the phone to me.

“Myka, if you fail to spend at least one thousand today, there’s going to be a problem,” Falcon warned.

“Falcon, I don’t have that money!” I stated.

“Remember riding on the back of my bike? Spend,” Falcon ordered.

“No!” I couldn’t take his money.

“Rosie, if she doesn’t, then you buy for Myka. And if Myka ends up with crap she dislikes, tough luck,” Falcon said.

“Falcon!” I shrieked as Rosie grinned.

“What?”

“Look, I can’t spend your money; you worked hard for that,” I argued.

“Yeah, to look after my woman. Enjoy yourself, babe, because I suspect that nobody has indulged you for a long time. Pick what you want or run the risk of having shit you don’t like!” Falcon cut the call as I gaped at the phone.

Rosie smirked, dumped a basket in my lap, and began chucking items in.

“Wait!” I exclaimed, and she paused. “I don’t like this scent,” I said, resigned and handed her a bottle back.

In the end, I spent five hundred and refused any further purchases.

Rosie viewed that as a success. As we left, the women were gossiping happily.

I was stunned. Natalie earned a small fortune today, and the old ladies stopped before Jess’s window and waved their multitude of bags.

Liam and Felix took several loads back to various cars while Leo and Elijah had stayed with the group.

“Where now?” I asked Rosie.

“How about you join me on a ride?” a man requested. I turned my head and paled at the ten men confronting us. This wasn’t good.

Rosie

“You’re in Rage MC territory wearing colours. You’ve got a death wish.” I chuckled, grinning. In a blink of an eye, Liam, Felix, Leo, and Elijah were in front. My phone began shaking silently in my bag, and I knew one of the girls had hit the panic button on their phone.

“Prospects, stand the fuck down,” the arrogant idiot ordered. I read the asshole’s cut. Thief, President.

“They don’t obey a disrespectful asshole, Thief, and certainly not one from another club,” I pointed out casually. Demi appeared at my shoulder, dangerous vibes coming off her. On my other side, Penny came into view with Amberlea and Grace.

“Well, Rage sure as hell has some pretty whores.” Thief cackled and reached out a hand to stroke my face. I slapped his hand away before it made contact.

“Don’t lay a hand on her.” Elijah pushed himself forward.

Thief withdrew his fist and punched him. I responded without thinking and returned the punch. Elijah straightened, shoved in front of me, and sneered before releasing his own blow. Thief moved back with shock in his eyes—not because Elijah had hit him but because I had.

“Get lost, loser,” Elijah warned.

Thief leered and stepped towards us. “Boy, there’s ten of us and four of you. The odds are in our favour.” His brothers took out weapons and held them at their sides.

Fuck that.

“Yeah, I don’t think so.” I produced my own weapon as Demi, Grace, Penny, and Amberlea did the same. Behind me, I heard movement and realised some of the other women had drawn guns too. The prospects showed no hesitation but aimed theirs as well.

“Now, I did not expect that!” Thief laughed. “These whores have balls.”

“Yeah, because all females are to you, is a hole to stick your dick in, right?” I taunted.

Thief’s gaze flashed. This was one hell of a dangerous nutcase. There was madness in his stare. He’d pull the trigger first. Casually, I stepped forward as Leo made a grab for me and shoved my gun into Thief’s head.

“My father is Texas, my brothers are Cowboy and Wild from Rage MC. You think I don’t own my own brand of fucked up and crazy?

Wrong. Listen, you assholes might hit half of us.

But we’ll hit all of you.” Each of the old ladies would have chosen a different target.

“Now you can fuck off or accept the risk.” I hissed.

Thief was tempted. I could see it in his eyes.

Sirens shrieked, and I didn’t move. Thief waved his hand, and the Notorious Princes lowered their weapons and put them away. We did the same as Cates walked into view. Cates rested her hand on her service weapon.

“You’re not welcome here,” she stated without preamble.

“Free country, isn’t it?” Thief shot back.
