Chapter 41

Chapter Forty-One

Kash

Ihaven’t seen or talked to Mila’s parents since the wedding, when her dad caught us kissing and her mom gave us a small sex talk. To say I’m a bit apprehensive about dinner is an understatement. Fortunately, it’s just going to be the four of us. I don’t know if I could handle Mara as well.

I just got home, and Mila should be ready soon. We’re supposed to be at her parents’ house at six and I don’t want to show up late. I know Mila is mine and that isn’t changing. I’m not going anywhere, so I hope her parents get used to seeing me around. I’m a permanent fixture.

Setting flowers on the table, I listen for any sounds as to where my girl might be.

There’s a fresh bouquet of yellow asters in a vase on our table, along with a set for her mom.

Emma taught us better than to show up empty-handed to someone’s house.

Even if I never dated anyone seriously all through school, I heard her drill it into Rhett enough times.

Walking down the hallway, I peel my shirt over my head.

We have to leave soon to avoid being late.

Running my hand through my hair, I try to get the strands to lay in one spot, but they seem to have a mind of their own.

I thought for sure cutting my hair was the best idea, and for a minute, I thought Mila liked it better with the new shorter strands.

It’s just hair to me, so when she looked at me and told me not to cut it again, it warmed my chest.

Hearing sounds coming from her room, I head toward the noise.

I’ve started moving her things into my room bit by bit, but she still has some clothes here.

There’s shuffling and swearing, and I’ve gone from mildly confused to hard as a rock in a matter of seconds.

Pushing open the door, the sight of Mila, bent over a basket with her back to me, sends fire through my veins.

She’s standing in a matching yellow bra and panty set.

Her ass cheeks are peeking out of the bottom, as if they’re waiting for my hands.

I’m not even paying attention to what she’s muttering about.

All I can focus on is the vision in front of me.

My Sunshine in a yellow set, her back tattoo on full display and cheeks hanging out? Yeah, we’re going to be late for dinner.

Leaning against the doorway, I bite back a groan. “Whatever you’re looking for, I think it’s under the bed.”

Whipping around, Mila holds a shirt up to her chest. When her eyes meet mine, she smiles. Fuck me, she’s stunning. I’m so gone for her. “I didn’t hear you come in.”

“Why are you blocking my view?” Stepping further into the room, I yank the shirt from her hands and toss it on the bed behind her. “I like you just like this.”

Mila rolls her eyes, then folds her arms against her chest, pushing her amazing breasts up.

Pulling her into my arms, I kiss the top of her head and breathe in her scent.

It makes me thankful that I’m home and can hold her again.

In this moment, I realize just how much I need her.

How much I’m always going to need her. Not just sexually—which, don’t get me wrong, is amazing—but like this, holding her in my arms.

Mila is my home, and I can’t wait to add to it.

“I was looking for my favorite blue shirt, and I thought it was in my unfolded laundry,” she murmurs into my chest.

“You mean my blue shirt?”

Tilting her head up, she shakes her head. “No, my blue shirt.”

“I like you like this. I vote you keep this on. Actually, I vote we take it off.” She shivers when my hand grazes her shoulder before trailing down and pulling her bra strap as I go.

“Kash.” She shakes her head, pulling from my grasp. “We can’t do this now. Neither of us are ready, and I don’t want to be late.”

“We won’t be late. I promise. Give me fifteen minutes.” I lean down to kiss her. When her lips eagerly meet mine, I groan and hike her up into my arms. “Scratch that. I’m going to need at least twenty.”

Trailing kisses down my neck, Mila nips the skin where her kiss lays. “Or we get ready and leave on time, then, later on, I’ll let you do whatever you want,” she whispers in my ear.

Motherfucker.

Sliding her down my torso, I put Mila back on the ground and give her a pointed look. “Anything I want?”

Grabbing a shirt from the bed, Mila quickly pulls it over her head, then pauses to look at me. “You’re not going to do anything weird, are you?”

“Define weird.”

“Kash...”

“Mila...”

“We’ll discuss this later. Go get dressed, Casanova. Dad has a thing about being late.” She gives me a parting smile as she heads over to her dresser for a pair of pants.

My cock deflates at the mention of her dad. I’m not sure if the man hates me or likes me, and I’m a bit nervous. My dad was my favorite person, and I know she’s close to both her parents, but Mila strikes me as a daddy’s girl.

“Okay, fine, but you have no idea what you’ve offered me. I’ll be ready in ten minutes, Sunshine.”

“Yeah, yeah.” She waves me off, heading into her bathroom. “We’ll see.”

Oh, Sweet Girl, you have no idea what you signed up for.

Mila’s mom greets us at the door with a large smile.

She’s wearing a pair of jeans and a shirt similar to Mila’s, her light brown hair pulled back into a bun.

She doesn’t look old enough to have adult daughters, and it briefly makes me wonder what my mom looks like now.

I attempted to find her once, and even asked Emma to help, but nothing ever came of it. I guess she’s happier now where she is.

“Hi, guys. Come on in.” Willa moves out of the doorway and gestures into the house.

Mila gives her mom a quick hug, and I attempt to shove down my nervousness. Her mom already likes me, and we’re just having a meal with them. It’s fine.

“We brought you flowers.” I hold out the small bouquet to her.

Taking them from me, she gives me a warm smile. “That was sweet, Kash. Thank you. Now, come on. Dinner is just about done.”

Walking toward their kitchen, I look around the home Mila grew up in.

There’s comfortable, homey looking furniture, a large flat screen on the wall, and shelves with all sorts of photos lining them.

I’ve never had dinner with a girlfriend’s family.

I’ve never even had a girlfriend, and I think this is going well so far.

Walking into the kitchen, I find Mila’s dad at the stove, pulling a pan from the oven. His eyes light up when he turns around at her greeting, then they slightly narrow when he sees me.

My heart drops to the floor when her dad looks between her and her mom. “What’s he doing here?”
